just wanted to clarify my comment in the beginning, my cat has diagnosed OCD from his vet! you might know I’m a mental health advocate and have a degree in psychology, I am the last person to throw around a term like OCD as a descriptor.
That makes sense! Over grooming is typically a sign of stress, be it from a mental disorder or life changes, so it is very good to know your vet was able to figure out the cause!
I love the Frighteners, but it's not exactly unheard of. It's one of Peter Jackson's bigger films. Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles are much more obscure Jackson films.
@@misterkite It's definitely a mainstream movie, but it gets left out of horror conversations a lot. I'm one of those annoying people who keeps recommending it all the time to everyone. It's just so much fun, and I want everyone to see it.
I’m not sure if Ginger snaps is obscure or just underrated but it is one of my favourites! It’s just so good in my and it’s early 2000’s with some 90s vibes still
Loved The Loved Ones! Nice to see a female villain who's genuinely rotten and don't rely on freudian excuses and the audience to sympathise with her. Lola is as sadistic as any male comparison.
I would highly recommend The Blackcoat's Daughter. It's directed by Oz Perkins, the same director as Gretel and Hansel and I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House, and I never hear anyone talk about it. I love it so much! Highly recommend!
I might have to check it out. I skipped it when it came out because it looked way too similar to another movie called February that came out around the same time.
@D Leo it's okay my dude, you don't have to yell. I believe the restaurant is when you're supposed to figure it out, because that's when I did as well. The movie is definitely about emotional loneliness and abandonment, and some people aren't into that kind of thing. Were allowed to like different things ✌🏻
How about A Cure of Wellness?! I loved that film and it's underappreciated. Dane Dehaan stars as the main character and it has been inspired by Lovecraft
I really liked "A Cure for Wellness." It was disturbing, I thought. One of the funny things is that if you watch the 30 sec. Super Bowl spot, when they read off all the side-effects of 'The Cure' it's actually not *that* much worse than the sorts of side-effect warnings you hear 100 times a day if you TV. LOL :)
I absolutely love A Cure for Wellness! It's a movie ahead of its time in my opinion. Had it been released in 2020/2021 it would have caused a huge impact. Love everything about it.
THANK YOU for bringing up Frailty! I literally gasped, I love this so much and never hear people talk about it. It's so good and leaves you with such a sickly feeling.

I rewatched it last night and then seeing this today I thought it was funny it was ! mentioned because I rewatched it randomly! It's SO damn good even after the 4th or 5th time I've watched it over the years! Mathew Mcconaughey's best work after True Detective in my opinion. I don't consider him to be that great of an actor he usually plays himself in movies but hes so good in Frailty and True Detective! It's free to watch on Amazon Prime right now too!
I love frailty! I heard you talk about it in your first underrated horror movies video from waayy back in the day, and found a copy shortly afterwards. Very underrated
id have to recommend mayhem from 2017. steven yeun and samara weaving. office building gets quarunteed bc of an outbreak of a virus that erases all inhibition and turns emotions up to the max. its not at all for everyone and is a little gorey but the story is so current and the acting is incredible. also just great for living vicariously LOL
I just watched Triangle today! I don't know why I was expecting it to be a little campy, but they totally played it straight and really successfully pulled you into the suspense and stress as it unfolds. It was so well acted! Also a great palate cleanser after watching Pet Sematary the other day (UHG).
I’m so glad you included Triangle in this list. Not enough people know about it and it’s been one of my favourites for over a decade! I recommend it to everyone, it’s so well done! I just re-watched it again last night
"Ghostland" is not that underrated but it's directed by the same guy who made "Martyrs"... it honestly was so disturbing to watch and I found it extremely effective and original
That would be a good idea. For many years I didn't realize that was a horror film. It was one that my parents owned, and I assumed it was an action film whenever I glanced at the DVD cover.
i can’t wait for your thoughts on Hell House LLC! i just watched it pretty recently for the first time and as a found footage fan, it was instantly one of my favorites. like... genuinely scary
Have you seen “Host”? It is based on a Zoom seance during lockdown, and it scared the hell out of me!! One of those films that sounds awful but is actually very effective - also less than an hour long, no filler!
I watched Starry Eyes a couple months ago thanks to another video where you talked about it and it was AMAZING!!! im so grateful i found your chanel, always recommending great movies.
I am a Shudder subscriber, and enjoy it very much. I highly recommend subbing. I have seen all the movies you suggested, and your list is spot on. Like you, the zombie genre is my least favorite horror, and needs to be tucked away for awhile. But, "It Stains the Sand Red' is a very different, very original take. I felt the zombie was in love with her, and it was kind of heartwarming. Great list and great reviews!
not enough people talk about the love witch!!! probably one of my favorite movies I found over quarantine its one of the most beautiful movies I’ve seen you can tell a lot of love went into it!! it was written and directed by a woman who also handmade all the costumes :)
Id be interested to hear what you think of these: Stoker, The Awakening, No One Lives, A Perfect Getaway, Faces in the crowd, Audition, A Tale of Two Sisters, Dead Alive. Not sure if some of these are more thriller than horror though. Also, your kitty may do better with one of the inflatable collar/cones than the plastic one it has right now-its easier for them to eat. You could also try a cat booty for the one foot. Just a thought Id share in case its helpful. I know what works for one pet may not work for another.
A topic you touched on that I relate to a lot: most of the horror movies I enjoy end up being the ones that are “off-label” in regards to not fitting within the mainstream horror genre. So I always love when you cover movies that maybe aren’t as clear cut to categorize! Great video
This is the beat list you've made (as in I agree the most) besides FearDotCom and I haven't seen It Stains the Sands Red. The Loved Ones is horrifying, in the best way possible. Robin McLeavy, Xavier Samuel and John Brumpton give extraordinary performances, it's one of the most disgusting movies I've ever seen, and it isn't my type of horror, but my God is it expertly executed and terrifying. FearDotCom is one of the worst movies I've ever seen haha. It literally makes NO sense, is hilariously cheesy and it's incredibly boring. Triangle is also one of my favourite movies of all time. It's perfect. Melissa George is up there with Jamie Lee Curtis, Essie Davis and Kathy Bates in female horror movie performances. She's mind-blowingly good and it's heartbreaking Eden Lake is relentless and that it goes on and on and on and it's amazing. Fantastic performances (fun fact, the female star, Kelly Reilly bullied my mother in school), especially by Reilly and it's visceral as f***. Antiviral is fine. It's beautiful in a gross way, and it's very interesting. The plot doesn't go anywhere and Landry Jones is very good. The interconnected aspect of Southbound is what makes it work for me. It isn't perfect, as always with movies like this, some of the stories aren't as good as others, and it is silly, but it's entertaining. Starry Eyes doesn't work for me, but the acting is really good. I think it's too shallow with the commentary, it's just the most basic way show themes like this. It's also really entertaining despite my issues.
ugh i’m such a huge fan of your channel!!! starting my own soon and i definitely study all your videos for some insight on how to execute and etc. keep being great, you’re the coolest :)
No particular order, just a few underrated gems of the last decade or so. I'll go deeper if anyone is interested. Super Dark Times (2017), The Invitation (2015), Splinter (2008), Oculus (2013), Excision (2012), Blood Creek (2008), Black Water (2007)
I remember watching «Frailty» with my brother on a rented VHS and we loved it, but I couldn't recall the name. Thak you for that! (And I love the shirt, I'm a huge fan of King)
I immediately went “aw” when I saw Pepe. So cute. And Fear Dot Com is definitely a bad movie, but for some reason I like it. Sets a good tone for Halloween season.
I highly recommend watching Relic to everyone. And also Amulet, which is another unique and underrated movie that was released this year. For those who liked The Loved Ones, you should watch The Devil’s Candy by the same director.
OMG, the Devil's Candy is so good! It's one of those gems that you don't expect to find. I loved everything about it. And the dad/daughter relationship is so cute and utterly believable.
Just getting back into horror and one film that I used to watch when I was a kid was Dolls from 1987, Stuart Gordon directed a very gothic fairy tale type film about dolls who kill bad people. Very well done and atmospheric!
I am always so happy to see someone excited for Triangle!! I recommend this movie to everyone i can!!!! Such a great hidden gem! Keep spreading the word so more people can see this awesome movie!
I’ve never heard literally anyone mentioned the movie May. It was one of the first bad horror films I’ve ever seen and kind of jumpstarted my fascination with them. Please check it out
Love the channel. I think more love for 2002's 'May' (why does no-one speak of that film anymore?), and 2012's 'Excision', if you're looking for the more obscure killer horror/thriller films. :)
Hey, Sarah. LOVE Pontypool, Triangle and Starry Eyes. I have two 'found footage ' films currently on Tubi to recommend, Final Prayer and The Conspiracy. Both are high up in my favorite films, in fact I call Final Prayer 'Britain's Blair Witch' because of it's downright creepiness and originality. Amazon Prime is LOADED with hidden gems. I don't mind low budget if it's realistic. I find some found footage films to be some of the scariest I've seen. Speaking of, Occult Angel and Mortal Remains are two of my favorites on Prime that I watch often. Evidence of Blood, with David Strathairn, is not horror, but one of my favorite murder mysteries of all time, and after you watch it, you'll see why I recommended it. Another one that's not quite horror, but really disturbing, is The Fields, with Cloris Leachman as you've never seen her before. Mike Flanigan's Absentia, his first film, is the only movie in memory that I had to sleep with the lights on after watching. Two more on Tubi that I forgot are Evidence with Stephen Moyer and Banshee Chapter with Ted Lavine. And finally, on Shutter, so you might know this one, is Let Us Prey with Liam Cunningham. I couldn't do this without mentioning it because it is brilliant! Cheers!
*FRAILTY NEEDS TO BE MORE WELL KNOWN!* EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH IT! I just rewatched it last night! That's so funny you brought it up! Its such a good movie. I rarely rewatch movies but I've seen Frailty at least 4 times! I usually don't like Matthew Mcconaughey but he's so good in it! Frailty and True Detective are his best pieces of work in my opinion. Frailty is a must watch though. I wouldn't really call it horror more like idk actually. It's almost like a drama but with a dash of psychological thriller or even mystery but it's not really a thriller it's like it's it's own genre. Watch it. It's free on Prime right now! *GO WATCH IT NOW!*
There’s a recent horror movie called BLISS, which is pretty great, IMO. And for some reason not one talks about it, if you haven’t checked it out yet, you should.
Every time you talk about Triangle it makes me want to rewatch it. I remember loving it so much! Eden Lake is definitely one of the most disturbing films I've seen.
Session 9 (2001) in my opinion is very underrated. Honestly the area it was filmed in is more famous/infamous than the film and it's actors. The Danvers State Mental Hospital. That's right haunted central. The Danvers State Hospital is believed by literary historians to have served as inspiration for the infamous Arkham sanatorium from H.P. Lovecraft. Once you understand what really happens it's very disturbing. A second viewing helps connect the dots.
I watched that "Triangle" movie once for just $0.50 on a mall somewhere in the Philippines. But the title is "Ghost ship". And when I searched this movie a couple of times, I just couldn't find it. Now I know why.
The Den!! It's a found footage type film that takes place mostly on webcams and chat rooms, but it's SO good. I think it's hard to make a movie that takes place on a computer screen, but it really pulls it off and manages to build a lot of suspense
There is a 2014 film called Last Shift I thought was pretty underrated. If you get a chance, check it out. It was on Netflix when I saw it but that was years ago.
I think the movie No One Lives (2012) doesn't get enough attention. It is a criminally underrated revenge slasher, imo. Luke Evans stars as the main character.
Ooh, I have seen Triangle, what a surprise! I rarely watch any niche movies. I loved its complexity. And I know Starry Eyes as well and loved it, too! Great idea and execution in this case. It just got better and better. I also watched Eden Lake but thought it was kind of boring. Can't remember most of it unfortunately... Thank you for sharing these movies. :)
I’m SO excited for more of your thoughts on Hell House LLC! It’s one of my all time favorite movies! 😍👻 And great to see Frailty getting some love! I saw it in the theater with my dad when it came out and we were blown away! It has such a creepy unsettling vibe. The Loved Ones and Starry Eyes are also 👌💯
👍👍👍 Yes! Finally! I literally can’t find a single person who has seen Starry Eyes, The Loves Ones.... OR the freaking best found footage ever, HeLL House LLC!! Also I’m going to have to re-watch Frailty (saw it at like 14yrs old on VHS & can’t remember) if someone who loves the previous 3 loves it, clearly eye need to go back to that one 🤜🏽🤛🏼
Frailty is one of my favorites. The wonderful Bill Paxton (RIP) directed it (and starred) and did a fabulous job. And Fear.com--I watched it because my greatest hero Roger Ebert (RIP) was not afraid to say good things about it. "I give the total movie two stars, but there are some four-star elements that deserve a better movie. You have to know how to look for them, but they're there. If the final 20 minutes had been produced by a German impressionist in the 1920s, we'd be calling it a masterpiece." Thank you Roger (miss you)! And Pontypool--BRILLIANT. Loved Southbound and Triangle. Great list, thanks!!!
eden lake might not be one of the most visually disturbing horror films there are however when i was watching it, i had barely gone through the first half of the movie and i encountered myself doing something i think i have never done for a horror film, i was hoping and praying that the protagonists wouldn’t encounter the antagonists, and the fact that it was barely the first half of the movie therefore they were bound to meet at least once again made me so anxious and nervous, that it almost made me happy that a horror film made me feel stuff again… it was definitely hugely disturbing to me because of how it put me inside the story. huge recommendation
So happy to find your channel✨❤️ i have been looking for some underrated horrors, your channel is perfect. Keep at it🙌 binging your every video right now and making a list🤣 P.s.- i saw you wearing Slipknot merch in other video! Love to see a fellow maggot 🤘
I don't know if you have seen it and I know you're not a zombie fan but I'd recommend you Train to Busan (2016). I'd say it's one the best zombie movies ever made !
Omg !!! Fear dot com.... I have a story about this movie: when I was little I used to go to blockbuster and spend a couple of hours finding a movie to rent and always looking in the horror movie, and a movie that always appear in the shelves was fear dot com and the cover was everything to me.... the nlonde girl with blood in the keyboard.... omg was so interesting... but never rented because I found another movies so, I always wanted to watch it until last year that I found it and it was so the dissappointment lol its embarassing 😂 hahahaahha norhing to do with the cover 😭
Thanks for suggesting Triangle. Watched it a few nights ago and really liked it. Also, that movie May that was suggested by some of your viewers was a lot of fun. I watched it last night. Definitely gonna hang with me for awhile. Slow builder, I think you're gonna like that one.
The Loved Ones...got to know that one from it being paired with Billie Eilish's "You Should See Me in a Crown." All I can say is...I feel so bad for the main character 😬. A movie where you can almost feel everything that's happened to them to the point where it becomes hard to watch at times. But that's what makes it effective.
A horror movie that I don't think I ever hear anyone talk about is Nine Dead. Came out in 2010 and is more of a thriller-mystery kind of thing with a realistic setting. Nine people are kidnapped and have to figure out why they're there before the clock runs out. Pretty simple plot, but the story, I find, is compelling enough that you want to keep watching just to understand why they're all there. I don't know where it can be streamed, but I'd recommend it; it's a good time even if others were to say it's good, bad, or meh.
Your recommendations make up my Monday movie night, and I appreciate how you give just a brief synopsis with no spoilers. PS My fave unheard of movie is Housebound. Please do a review! PPS Please take little Pepe to the vet. 🐈
I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen/ talked about this movie before but you should check out (it’s a zombie movie) Dead meat released in 2004 it’s an Irish horror that takes mad cow disease and twists it into a very interesting take on the genre. Please share your thoughts with us?
Yeah agreed, I’m actually a big fan of zombie films, but I like them a little bit different, like the scene where the lead female actress sucks out a zombies eye n whatever else with an old school vacuum, can’t say I’ve ever seen that before this movie or after this movie.it is definitely a fun watch!!!

Have you ever seen the show My Cat from Hell? The host was Jackson who is very knowlegable of cats. Maybe ask him for advice.
Jose Mendez I watch him too! Definitely interesting stuff.
That makes sense! Over grooming is typically a sign of stress, be it from a mental disorder or life changes, so it is very good to know your vet was able to figure out the cause!

I thought Xavier Samuel did a swell job in the newest "Frankenstein" redo. Am I alone on that one?
ugh i’m such a huge fan of your channel!!! starting my own soon and i definitely study all your videos for some insight on how to execute and etc. keep being great, you’re the coolest :)
Glad you mentioned Triangle, so underrated imo
OMG- just watched Triangle!!!!! So freaking good- thanks for the repeated recommendation!!!
Just getting back into horror and one film that I used to watch when I was a kid was Dolls from 1987, Stuart Gordon directed a very gothic fairy tale type film about dolls who kill bad people. Very well done and atmospheric!
R.i.p. stuart gordon
Please check it out
Bad?! Are you serious? You just broke my heart.
I love "May." Jeremy Sisto is a TOTAL hunk!!!
@@Aster_Risk Seriously! This movie terrified me when I was 12 and I still get that damn doll song stuck in my head. It will always be in my Top 10.
I stopped watching after a particular scene. Won't give it away. However, after that scene, I could not root for her so I turned it off.
It’s so underrated! Such a strangely endearing and very disturbing film.
Love the channel. I think more love for 2002's 'May' (why does no-one speak of that film anymore?), and 2012's 'Excision', if you're looking for the more obscure killer horror/thriller films. :)
Excision was wild asf !
Southbound has hands down the coolest Grim Reaper you will ever see.
Need to give Kill List a watch. British horror film thats an extremely uncomfortable viewing. One of the most effective horrors ive seen.
The House of the Devil. I never hear anyone talk about it and it's so good!!
Such a great movie!! Perfect slow burn, bonkers finale. Total perfection.
Cheers!
The Loved Ones is SO GOOD
*FRAILTY NEEDS TO BE MORE WELL KNOWN!* EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH IT!
Lincoln Lawyer was his best work
There’s a recent horror movie called BLISS, which is pretty great, IMO. And for some reason not one talks about it, if you haven’t checked it out yet, you should.
Agreed! Loved Bliss.
I really want to hear you talk about house on haunted hill! that and maybe 13 ghosts if you like it too
I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on the Channel Zero series!
That was twisted for sure. I think I saw two or maybe three seasons but not sure about the third one.
Oooooooooh, I've seen it. I love them, especially the one with stairs in the park! Haunting . . .
Every time you talk about Triangle it makes me want to rewatch it. I remember loving it so much! Eden Lake is definitely one of the most disturbing films I've seen.
If you like hell house llc, would recommend the houses October built.
I love those movies!
There’s a ...houses that October built sequel out!
I like your "Stephen King Rules" shirt. 😆
Thank you for posting this! I was trying to figure out what is says lol I couldn't see the King so I was like huh
@@kelly82485 Np 😉
I’m pretty sure it’s a nod to The Monster Squad; a replica of the shirt the main kid wears. I may be wrong
I just watched Triangle. Thanks so much for the recommendation. It is 100% underrated. Highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My depression has me forgetting some of the cool unknown horror I’ve watched like it stains the sand red WTF I loved that movie
I watched that "Triangle" movie once for just $0.50 on a mall somewhere in the Philippines. But the title is "Ghost ship". And when I searched this movie a couple of times, I just couldn't find it. Now I know why.
The actor who plays the crazy captain is excellent, what's his name already?
you just got a new follower! women critiquing horror movies is everything! thank you for sharing!
Eden lake YESS! That movie actually shocked me and made me cry
Have you watched The Skin I Live In? It’s a Spanish movie that I’ve never heard anyone talk about but I love
Great flick 👌
The Den!! It's a found footage type film that takes place mostly on webcams and chat rooms, but it's SO good. I think it's hard to make a movie that takes place on a computer screen, but it really pulls it off and manages to build a lot of suspense
I think ‘wind chill’ - 2007 and ‘the children’ - 2008 could make the list!
Wind Chill is pretty good. That's one of my younger sister's favorite horror movies, and she's picky about her movies.
Love "Wind Chill.". I love movies set in Winter; especially Horror!
The Children! Yes. Super creepy movie.
oooh, i loved this list! i've only heard of one of these before (double recommend for pontypool here) and i'm stoked to check out the others tysm
There is a 2014 film called Last Shift I thought was pretty underrated. If you get a chance, check it out. It was on Netflix when I saw it but that was years ago.
The same year, ATM is good too....
I know I have seen this, but in my mind, I'm confusing it with something else. I might have to go and revisit that one.
I've seen The Loved Ones so many times, fun stuff, really needs a blu-ray release, Scream Factory maybe. Great List!!!!!
Watched Triangle today after your recommendation. Loved it, wasn't expecting the twist it has! Thanks, made my night!!! 😁😁
Maybe PePe has anxiety from the horror movies. Lol. He's very cute.
So glad you mentioned Starry Eyes! One of my favorites
Pontypool defies description. Calling it a zombie movie is such a disservice, but where else do you start for a reference point?
I love " Frailty. " So heartbroken that we lost Bill Paxton. Such a good actor and so handsome. ❤
The best video to watch before I go to sleep tonight 🙌🏻🙌🏻😃
that’s my routine lol
One Cut of the Dead is really underrated.
I don't know why it's not more popular than it is.
eden lake might not be one of the most visually disturbing horror films there are however when i was watching it, i had barely gone through the first half of the movie and i encountered myself doing something i think i have never done for a horror film, i was hoping and praying that the protagonists wouldn’t encounter the antagonists, and the fact that it was barely the first half of the movie therefore they were bound to meet at least once again made me so anxious and nervous, that it almost made me happy that a horror film made me feel stuff again… it was definitely hugely disturbing to me because of how it put me inside the story. huge recommendation
So happy to find your channel✨❤️ i have been looking for some underrated horrors, your channel is perfect. Keep at it🙌 binging your every video right now and making a list🤣
P.s.- i saw you wearing Slipknot merch in other video! Love to see a fellow maggot 🤘
yesssss 🖤🤘
I don't know if you have seen it and I know you're not a zombie fan but I'd recommend you Train to Busan (2016). I'd say it's one the best zombie movies ever made !
Omg !!! Fear dot com.... I have a story about this movie: when I was little I used to go to blockbuster and spend a couple of hours finding a movie to rent and always looking in the horror movie, and a movie that always appear in the shelves was fear dot com and the cover was everything to me.... the nlonde girl with blood in the keyboard.... omg was so interesting... but never rented because I found another movies so, I always wanted to watch it until last year that I found it and it was so the dissappointment lol its embarassing 😂 hahahaahha norhing to do with the cover 😭
omg SO grateful you mentioned Fear Dot Com this movie is a GEM
Have you had the chance to watch Tetsuo the iron man...it's rather fun.
Tetsuo! That movie is so weird and I love it and the soundtrack. Japanese cyberpunk films are so underrated in my opinion.
A classic
I love frailty, triangle, and house on haunted hill . I saw house on haunted hill in theaters and I loved it it's a very well made horror.
Please watch and review “The Wind!” Really curious about your thoughts on it!
I feel like you’d enjoy it!
omg yes, I was just about to ask her!
I’ve been asking for so long!!!
@@loganjones9123 agreed. "The Wind" is pretty solid.
Glad you put Pontypool on this list, I love that movie! Put a bunch of the others on my watch list, always appreciate your recommendations.
I've seen fear dot com and it wasn't that good.
Thanks for suggesting Triangle. Watched it a few nights ago and really liked it. Also, that movie May that was suggested by some of your viewers was a lot of fun. I watched it last night. Definitely gonna hang with me for awhile. Slow builder, I think you're gonna like that one.
The Loved Ones...got to know that one from it being paired with Billie Eilish's "You Should See Me in a Crown."
All I can say is...I feel so bad for the main character 😬. A movie where you can almost feel everything that's happened to them to the point where it becomes hard to watch at times. But that's what makes it effective.
great video! Here are some of my picks:
- Mute Witness
- ils (Them)
-
- Sweetheart
- Autopsy Of Jane Doe
your cats are too cute.
I really love the movie Time Lapse. It’s kind of horror/suspense but I never hear anybody talk about it. Stars Danielle Panabaker
I respect your choices, but fear dot com honestly bored me
sorry :(
A horror movie that I don't think I ever hear anyone talk about is Nine Dead.
My cousin Hassie is in southbound! She’s the blonde with the golf club! 😝
ahh no way! that’s amazing
