      Well Phil. We had the same problem with starlings and other birds. Get a green laser off the internet and go out when it’s just about gettin dark or on a dull day and shine it at them. It’ll scare the life out of them. Try it a few times and I garuntee they will go away. We have absolutely no bother with it anymore at all

    a yard sweeper like the NC yard sweeper and link box implement would be a great investment. something handy to use to get the place looking just a bit more tidy. just something to consider. my uncle has one and he loves it.

    What we do to keep the crows of the pit is after the tyres are put on is put a sheet of netting on top

  • @petrokemikal
    @petrokemikal 3 роки тому +2

    I wonder could you put up a fine mesh netting over the shed entrances to stop the starlings from flying in and robbing the food... obv would need to be able to be folded or rolled to one side to get the tractor and feeder in... but im sure if you could come up with a way to be able to fold or roll it up youd be doin well keepin the little bollixes out.. the mother uses the netting to stop the birds flying into her big poly tunell and she said its the job...

    Great video Phil , we used to have a Keenan 100 and had to fill it half a dozen times but when it was completely worn out we changed it for a mech fiber 360 it will hold over 7 tonnes and it cuts so much time off feeding , that shear bucket looks like a great job

    You should invest in a few top sheets that you put on top of the plastic to keep the birds from putting holes in the plastic you can use them every year. since we have started using them we have had barely any holes

    I'm probably going to get grief for this but it struck me that you are taking barley grain and straw out of the field 6 different ways and then have 6 different ingredients in your various diets. I don't see the return for the extra hassle.
    Wholecrop is grand. One day in and easy feed out. Crimp and alkalai treated grain?? Pick one. Hard to see a benefit in having both. All straw after crimping is baled dry in this area. Can't see much benefit in having two types of straw. More streamlined harvest and feeding out.
    After all that considering ye have all your own gear have you considered going to 3 cuts? Might be easier to time the third cut to coincide with wholecropping. Get first cut out 2nd weeks or so earlier, second cut 5 to 6 weeks later and hopefully 3rd timed well with wholecrop.You'll burn very little extra diesel or time. You'll only be harvesting slightly more tonnes but of better quality.

    Does the jcb not have a option for crab/front/rear wheel steering?? May be to old for that function. But also the seals in the steering rams could be goosed causing it to loose pressure and go out of calibration.
