This is my third time viewing this … most immediately To refresh my info with regard to food in Portugal. I have also shared this particular video with friends, I know who are embarking on the Camino.
I watched this video assuming I’d hear something about food in PT (which i did) BUT the commentary on the Camino was exceptional and very inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing this.
We just discovered your channel and now we're binging on your videos to get over the saudade that we're feeling. We have a place near Braga and will hopefully move there full time in July this year. I've heard many times that people who are gluten-sensitive in the US can actually eat bread in Portugal, so thank you for all the links to the studies. And by the way, the best papas de Sarrbulho we had was in Guimarães at a place called Monte dos Leitoes..... my mouth waters just thinking about it 🙂. Looking forward to your future videos!
Obrigado. Yes, love papas de Sarrabulho. We hare going to Guimarães for a day trip this week (second visit) and will check out your recommendation. Your support and encouragement is so appreciated. Bom dia, alegria!

Hey Trudy. Thanks for your comment and for your support. Let us know when you plan on visiting Porto. Hopefully we will make to Lisboa one of these days.
I found exactly the same thing, when I was visiting from Canada, looking into it I also found that bread is sped up , I think fast rising yeasts , where in the EU , They take much more time, which is apparently much kinder on your microbiam
So right. We were gluten free in the US for digestive reasons. When we are in Europe and now living in Portugal we have no issues. Kathleen has a bunch of info on this topic. Thanks for your support.
There is a fantastic restaurant, middle eastern cuisine, near the luminous fountain in Lisbon. Hands down the best Indian food we ever had the pleasure to experience.
Thanks guys for sharing your wonderful experience in my little Portugal, now I’m not going to say this just because it’s my country but the truth is the truth all of our veggies and food are all natural and this is why since my parents immigrated to the United States we noticed too when we go back to Portugal in this case the Azores we can tell the difference specially with my parents who are seniors here in America she can’t eat bread and ketchup etc. because it makes your stomach blown and she gets acid reflects all the time because even tho she can’t eat bread well we are Portuguese and we eat bread with all of our meals so she has to suffer once in while do to this horrible cause all because of the junk that the FDA puts in our foods, now yes I totally understand the population here are 100 times more then Portugal but it doesn’t have the rights for them to put basically which I like to call poison in our foods and this is why most of Americans are sick with obesity, cancer and the list goes on, now I’m not saying either that in Portugal we don’t have people with obesity we do and this is because we do eat a lot of pastries LOL.. well may God bless you and enjoy the food that we have there because I really miss all the natural food and even the water I remember when I was a child living in the Azores I could drink tap water but here in the US not safe at all and the reason the water there it’s drinkable and safe because we drink from the natural springs, like I like to say whatever is made naturally from God our creator is best for his children, peace be with you and may God bless you all the days of your life’s 🙏❤️🇵🇹🇺🇸👍
Joe, thank you for taking the time to compose such a wonderful comment. Food is such a big part of our lives and having good, clean, food seems to be more challenging to find. We feel so fortunate to be here in Portugal and trust the food we nurish our bodiew with each and every day. Here's to enjoying life and having as much fun as possible. Saúde!
Nice to see you two. How did you find the veggie option in Portugal? Of course the markets have all the fresh veggies you need, but just wondering food options when you venture away from main cities. Enjoy your travels and hopefully see you guys soon
Understood. I believe it is somewhat challenging to be a vegetarian in Portugal. We owned a small farm in Vermont for 12 years. Raised chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lot of vegetables, so have a perspective on what good clean food is and tastes like. Here in Portugal the fruit and vegetables actually have flavor and the supply is seasonal. Thank you for your comment and support. If you have any specific questions just email us: ourcontinuingadventure@gmail.com
