The plus side is that you guys have what it takes to be an expat: highly adaptable individuals, who see beauty through the differences, and love people.
Thanks V. The is what we strive for each and every day. Mainly because it just makes life so much more fun and interesting. See you all soon!
This was especially helpful - thank you!
Thank you GW. That's exactly what we were going for, helpful! Keep having fun!
Having just spent 5 glorious weeks this June in and around Porto, the weather was indeed perfect. A few days when it was a little chilly, one drenching downpour but mostly sunny days eventually climbing to the low 80's. Occasionally needing a wrap or long sleeve of an evening.
We experienced Porto a year earlier in May and found it a shade cooler but lots of sunny days in high 70's and some occasional mistly on/off rainy days.
Just to remind me of how wonderful the weather is in Porto I keep an update of the latest Porto weather on my phone .... That is especially revealing as Louisiana hits it's 10th day in a row of 100deg F
Transportation is amazingly good, busses, metro and Uber is inexpensive plus there is a cheaper version called Bolt. plus you will get plenty of exercise walking around .... a most inviting walking city with small neighbourhood parks everywhere
Couldn't agree with you more. We love Porto and all that it offers. Plus, we look forward to your return!
Really appreciate you all putting useful information out there. My wife and I are very interested in Porto, especially after your e-mail and now this video. Our biggest concern is dreary winter weather, but after several weeks of 90+ weather in Florida I would gladly take a few dreary wet winter days. We are also very encouraged that you did no scouting trip at all, I believe we will be following your example.
Understood about your weather concerns. There is the 'damp' season, but it is short lived. Beats having to shoveling snow off the roof (we lived in Vermont for 12 years). Email us to ask questions and keep us updated of your plans.
Thank you for all of your videos! We are not planning to move to Portugal but are considering a 2-3 months stay each year and your insights and advice are so helpful!
Thank you for your kind comment. Feel free to email us at OurContinuingAdventure@gmail.com with any questions about your future adventures here in Portugal. Bom dia alegria!
Great video, thank you for sharing your experiences. We really appreciate it.
Thanks for the great comment. Just email us if you have any questions. Is Portugal on your Adventure list?
@@OurContinuingAdventure I can answer for @ahajacobs1967 (she is my much better half) Portugal is without question on our list.
@@OurContinuingAdventure we plan to move to Portugal, we have only been to Porto and Lisboa on a cruise. We saw very little but have been researching for quite some time and Portugal checks all our boxes to retire early. Your information has been very helpful to us. Obrigada.
We absolutely love it here! Email us and we would be more than happy to assist in anyway we can in getting you back to Portugal! OurContinuingAdventure@gmail.com
Good info! Thanks for sharing. See you next time.
Obrigado! Let us when you plan your return. Keep having fun!
Not forgetting food and wine, of course!
Sincerely.
Marc from France.
Ha, never forget the great food and wine here in Portugal! Merci Marc. Speaking of great food, we just had a friend bring us several tins of rillettes from their Paris visit.
@@OurContinuingAdventure Good evening,
Pork rillettes from Le Mans (Le Mans in Sarthe), no doubt. Otherwise in my region, near Toulouse, there are also duck or goose rillettes. To taste if one day you have the opportunity.
In the meantime, Bon Appétit to both of you!
Merci! Keep having fun!
Very helpful! I like your primary questions, simple and impactful! I'd add one more that informs cost of living for us: we compared the price of a Sagres (sorry, Super Bock fans) and a bica & pastel de nata everywhere we visited when we did a deep dive on the Algarve & Lisbon regions in 2021. We think that Porto (most likely Guia) will be our landing spot, but may ultimately end up in a small city. Maybe Aveiro or Viana do Castelo? Which town is the Tavira of the north?!
Thank you for your comment, and yes, knowing what things cost is very important, rent being you biggest expense. We did a post, along with documentation, explaining what our expensed were in getting here and then for our first year. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/NenTJdb8DPU/v-deo.html
@@OurContinuingAdventure I forgot to congratulate you on walking the Camino! I watched your video on the Portuguese Camino but did not realize you are a full-fledged pilgrim! Hope to meet you both some day.
Being able to walk the Camino, any Camino, is so greatly appreciated. What is so much fun here in Porto, right our apartment's front door, is that we get to be 'on the Camino' every single day! It passes right by us with it's yellow arrows a constant reminder. And definitely would love to get together. Bom Caminho!
❤
Obrigado!
Another awesome video.
Thank you. Your continued interest, support and encouragement is greatly appreciated.
