I Love Derek’s setup! Very practical setup for everyday enjoyment. And it didn’t break the bank. he’s happy with it, that’s what matters most!
GrandmasterAJ Amen to that! I do love this space! NFL playoffs have been nothing short of amazingly enjoyable in this space!
I’m runnin 5.0.2, I would like to add a small sub for lfe eventually once I find a reasonably priced one but I have to budget my money wisely. I too have a multi use space that includes my modest setup; Plus I’m sorta new to home theater. So seeing this is inspiring ideas for future stuff. I Love the bar top.
GrandmasterAJ I like the bar top too and super easy to make!! Adjustable legs from IKEA, a 4 ft by 12 inch by 3/4 inch board from Lowe's normally used for building stairs and stain color of your choice!! Each table cost me about $70 and my time👍🏻
This guys house looks like an interior decorator was involved. So nice, my wife would have no objections with this setup at all. Super amazing job in working with what you have, and making it amazing.
I agree
tkcdac Um wow that was an awesome compliment!! It was all me and a lot of the stuff I made myself in the room! Even the sunset canvas on the wall was a picture I took at Siesta Key beach in Florida shortly after my second nerve damage VA surgery in 2016. This comment made my day! My 3 daughters love this space too!
Derek's setup is amazing. The screen is massive
I like his vision on what to have in a entertainment room, just the basic’s
Love the space, it looks so cozy and welcoming. Again thank you for your service. It would be great if something can be done to let this veteran keep the gear.
Great setup Derrick. I love your honesty. You're a great guy and thank you for your service. I hope you can get everything you want and can afford. Thanks Youthman for sharing.
Thanks Johnny.
Johnny Greenway thank you and the way I see it I have been blessed more by the friendships and kind words than many may understand. My God has been good to me by his grace!
Great set up and from one vet to another Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your service as well Dwight
Dwight Guyette brother, thank you for your service as well it is an honor!
When life becomes too hard to stand..... Kneel. Love it!!!!
Awesome theater room! That is one great looking room. Love the speakers that were chosen for the theater. I bet that thing can plain out rock some movie soundtracks. Thank Derek for sharing his theater with us viewers.
Hi-Fi Haven thank you for watching I certainly love this space!!
Thanks Hi-Fi. You always have been so supportive.
Thank you for your service Derek.
with him being a disabled vet I really expected a surprise towards the ending of this video. That would’ve been a possible home theater tear jerker.
What surprise were you hoping for?
Youthman I was thinking a projector giveaway from one of the companies mentioned in the video for sure.
@@JoseTorres-vo3pv That would be fantastic if a manufacturer would be willing to donate one.
If this is “budget,” then I’m more poor than I thought.
Haha.Well my sunshine we’re $5000 a pair so I would consider it budget friendly. The projector however is on the pricey side.
It is budget if you are willing to save up and buy a piece at a time as I could afford it. Also some used equipment and built a lot of the items in this space and yeah.....that expensive projector...is a loner and will go back but I will enjoy while here and save up for something else! Hoping Youthman can get a couple options in for review so I can hopefully find one that fits my budget..... while I save up😂👍🏻
Youthman Yeah, your room is a little intense for sure. Probably awesome, though!
bucfan1993 It’s a decent setup for sure. Beats my Polk’s any day of the week. I understand your rear speaker placement. I have a shotgun layout room like yours. I ended up putting mine on the wall behind outside of the couch on either end facing inward. It works but I’m sure it’s not, “correct.” Lol
Preston Thompson I'm considering mounting mine as well and since this video I have moved them farther away and back a bit. Still think I may mount if my landlord allows!👍🏻
Hey Youthman I wanted to ask for your opinion. I just started my 5.2 set up and I went with a pair of RP-280 Piano Black for my front speaker. For the center I went with a RP-440C Piano Black and for surrounds I went with some Klipsch in ceilings speakers the Cs-18c subs are 2 Klipsch R-120. My question was your thoughts. I went with those fronts and center for 1 being the price I paid $400 each for the Rep-280 and $380 for the center. And 2 was the Piano Black finish 😍. Do you think I should’ve gone for the newest 8000fs and 404c more expensive and no Piano Black. Do you think Im missing on sound ?
Nice job in the room!
Jeff Newell much appreciated I love it!
Great job! Thank you for your service!
bucfan1993 You have shone what they can do in a small space because you have prove it. Cheers
That's a pretty sick setup man I would totally be cool with that 😎👌
This is a beautiful setup!
Very nice comfortable setup 👌👍👍😊
Lovely setup!👌🏻
Great video Youthman as always!!!
Thanks David
Just a question... is that Atmos speakers as rear surrounds? It’s honestly not a bad idea for limited space...
Yes, they have a switch on the back of the Klipsch RP-500SA that allows you to use the as either height speakers, surround speakers or upfiring Atmos speakers.
How far is your viewing position and how is the listening experience with the center channel angled up from a low position?
Don Guillermo my primary listening position is about 13ft from screen and maybe 11ft from center speaker. I did after this video move my rear speakers back and a little farther away but I find it perfect for me!! As far as angling the center channel it makes a huge difference! I know it looks like the ottoman is in the way but when I move it back to where I rest my feet it in no way impeads the sound. I am more than pleased!!
Let’s all donate to let him keep this setup!!! Could be.50 cents per subscriber and he’d get $20,000 dollars. I’m down!!!
Can we double that to $1.00 per subscriber and send the other half to Youthman? 😂😂😂
Youthman setup a go fund me account. I’ll donate right now! I’ll give you $2. Lol
Okayyy... Idk the back speakers....? Personal preference is all I could say
Lion Sin Escanor I moved them back after hearing from many of you and I am glad I did👍🏻 Live, learn & repeat!
Well done brother , that's what it's all about, enjoyment .
Thanks
nice setup
That is one badass projector! Stellar setup gotta work with what ya got. And Idk that you could do much better than that within the given space..
Mike Maners thank you that is an exceptional complement!👍🏻
@@bucfan1993 thank you. Def wanting to upgrade to rp towers upfront myself in the near future. Got some r26f's holding it down for now
I have build my Hometheater in a smaller room then this i use a 90 inch screen and a Epson projector you can see it on my channel. There are other options available from lg ultra short throw projctors .1080p versions from lg are not expensive like the uhd versions.Ore you mount a projector like the epson 4010 i have one and it is great!and it not breaks the bank.
waynebruce8 as I have not completely settled yet on which one I go too but am locked into UST with this screen and I truly enjoy my Xbox One X in 4k so I will see where I go😁. Also I am extremely patient and willing to save my money up in order to purchase when I can afford! I am super grateful to Eastporters for allowing us to use this review unit!!
congratulation very nice you did a good job in your room.
gary fietcher Thank you! I Just wanted to show people that it doesn't always have to be a dedicated space and not to limit themselves on possibilities!👍🏻
Hey man.. I felt projector picture colours are oversaturated... no true colors... it's just my view... what do you say?
I personally do not feel they are over saturated. I have seen OLED with more saturation. That’s why projectors and TV’s have picture adjustments
how effective/not effective is angling up the center channel speakers since the UST projector takes up the traditional space of the center channel? great room!!! nicely done
If you are not able to place your center channel at your level, it is extremely important to angle the center channel to where the Twitter is aimed either up or down to where it lines up with your ears. And the reason for this is High frequencies are very directional. That’s why if you staying in front of a speaker it sounds great but as you move off to the side which is called off-axis, The sun will begin to become muffled and not as clear.
That is one of the challenges of using a UST, especially if you are wanting to place your projector directly on top of the speaker.
@@Youthman that’s the big problem w UST.. it’s really convenient “in principle” for folks w mixed use HT / living room but HT furniture hasnt caught on
It’s still a relatively new concepts so I’m sure it will get better over time
@@Youthman still a lot of upsides and WAF is high
I have a pair of RP-6000f's, RP-600c and for now an older pair of R-51m's for my surrounds. I live in an apartment as well and truthfully , the RP-6000f's can hold their own without a sub. I also have a pair of RP-8000f's dedicated for music and the RP-6000f's can hang with the RP-8000f's pretty darn well.
Hey Michael. I would be more than happy to send you a pic of my set up. If you think you would be interested in taking a look. Plus maybe you could give me an opinion on a pair of rear surrounds that would work for my 5.0 set up? My living room does open up to my kitchen. Pretty much like Derek's. I was thinking of getting the RP-502's for the surrounds.
Hi Christopher. You can email me at michael@youthmanreviews.com
@@Youthman okay. Thanks and keep the videoes coming. 👍
Excellent vídeo 😉👍
Appreciate it Ricardo
I got a little bigger leaving-room 23 x 12 x 8 , is a apartment, i got 5.2 and i have an amazing sound system course i spend a lot money for me it is, like Youtman says u can be created thats all you need, an for your friend i think a projector with 4k will be more cheap, 8k this day is a fortune to buy it yes saying
I'm looking for the perfect short throw. True 4K, 3D, 90% Rec 2020 color, Hdmi 2.1, VRR, Perfect scaling, 4000 nits, Dolby Vision - all for $2500 or less.
Let me know if you've found one!!
Good luck with that haha
You forgot to mention with speakers capable of hitting below 20Hz.
Forget about that today but you can easily find that stuff even, cheaper , after 10-15 years 😉
So yo believe is unicorns to? 🤔
have you noticed any fan noise from the lg projector ?
I honestly don't notice the fan noise mostly because of the overhead fan but I did ask Youthman what he thought and he had to get next to it to hear it noticably.
Any chance of reviewing the Epson LS500 UST?
Roberto Val I would love that! I had not considered Epson but will be checking that one out so thank you!
Great job youthman!! Do you like speaker grills on or off?
Grills off for me. But in my living room I keep them on my RF7 III at the request of my wife
Nice theater space also what kind of wireless mic are you using thank you for reading
Thanks Darin. I have a RODE Wireless Go that I used for this video. Usually I have it connected to my RODE Lav Moc when it’s just me in the video.
Youthman ty I greatly appreciate it
Why don’t you prefer in wall speakers compared to standing ones for a room dedicated to home theatre?
In-walls have a lot of compromise in sound. Always go with floor standing or bookshelf speakers when possible.
Youthman thanks for your reply
Youth man are you Canadian? Just wondering because eastporters it's Canadian
Floridian. Eastporters found my channel and reached out to me to review some of their products.
happy Happy home theater system
Great vid! good vibes
Thank you
I guess this is typical for the "average" HT guy. That few have the luxury to a "dedicated HT room" they built from the ground up. It's usually taking an existing room and converting it. Dealing with windows and sliding doors. Or an open 4th wall.....which in some cases makes it impossible to acoustically treat let alone do any "sound suppression" (to contain the sound in the HT room).
Hopefully you (Michael) will meet some one that's checked all the boxes for a "HT of the month video". Some one who had an unfinished basement or was building a new home--and was able to FIRST "sound suppress" the room (allowing the owner to watch movies at any time at reference levels and not wake a baby outside the room)....who then "acoustically treated" the room...THEN bought the electronics and then seating.
Too many people ignore (or can't) acoustic treatments and sound suppression.
Youthman is being discussed at avsforum PSA thread
Let me take a look. Thx for the heads up.
You can’t please every one. It’s cool though. I’m not offended with negative comments. There are 43,000 others on this channel that enjoy my content. 😀
@@keepingupwiththejones2933 And I certainly welcome you disagreeing with me. I know I'm not always right and I'm perfectly ok with that. Thank you also for the kind words. I just try and treat people the way I would like to be treated and to Love God, Love People. Pretty simple in theory, much more difficult in practice. I don't always succeed but do the best I can. Life is too short to get ugly with people. I would rather remain positive, regardless of what others say or think.
@@Youthman You def. don't deserve the name calling.
Nice set up!
My mind can’t comprehend the no sub though. It...just....doesn’t....seem...right haha
If it sounds good to u that’s all that matters
Bateman61405 I think you would be surprised at the output of these but I certainly would and have considered some subs
He doesn’t listen to it nearly as loud as I do lol
bucfan1993 I’m in the camp that believe that unless you have utterly outstanding towers with multiple large woofers (12inch like the legacy focus towers) and more than enough amplifier power to truly power them, your towers just simply cannot provide the low bass like a subwoofer can. I mean that’s what the subs job is. It should be able to do it better/cleaner. It’s just the camp that I fall into.
The PSA speakers I have don’t produce low end bass cuz of how loud they can play, so I absolutely need a sub(s). Again if it sounds good to you that’s all that matters. However, there’s no denying it would sound even better with a properly placed/set up subwoofer in the mix.
Bateman61405 interested in what you might recommend and a single or pair?
bucfan1993 dual subs should always be what you aim for IMO. I have a SVS PB4000 and am planning to add a second
Having a second sub helps with nulls and eliminating being able to localize the bass which is my main reason for wanting duals.
There are so many brands to choose from. It looks like you have a big room there. Subs fill the whole room not just where you actually sit. For that alone I would recommend ported subs. 2 SVS PB1000s would be my bare minimum recommendation. SVS is not the best bang for your buck, but they make quality stuff and their customer service is great.
SVS, PSA, HSU, Monoprice, Rythmik, and JTR are the brands I would say to checkout. SVS would be the easiest entry point due to their 45 day free trial and free shipping. The more serious you get the bigger SVS sub u can get or go to brands like PSA.
If you absolutely cannot do dual subs, get the biggest/best ported sub you can fit/afford. Just know, when placed/set up properly, dual SVS PB 1000s will sound better/ more convincing than a single PB2000.
The PB1000s aren’t huge and they sound great for the size/price IMO. You might be able to score a deal on the outlet store for them as well and save $$. I had one years ago and upgraded. Once you get a proper subwoofer that can actually play down to 20hz with authority you will never not have subs in ur system ever again.
Yo dude! Interesting rig but it's time to be at CES, no?
I wish. This is the first year going full-time so I have to be careful what I spend, especially when I just lost a full-time income. I do have plans to go to CEDIA and possibly AXPONA
Is the TCL 75'' microled within budget as an alternative? I hear good things.. plus the price..
Not sure but a 75” isn’t very exciting next to a 110” projection screen
Funny thing is.....I have a 75" Sharp Aquos in my bedroom😂 it is an older 1080p set but......it's in my bedroom😂😂
Agreed. I have 110 projection and still prefer over television. It gives a much more cinematic feel to the experience. Unfortunately budget vs install restriction. I really hope you find a satisfactory solution. I know once you've seen the bigger picture it's never the same again..
Was curious if this person ever added a subwoofer to the system.
I believe he has a small 10’ Klipsch sub.
The surround speakers need to be placed further back
DaDevastator24_7 I agree and have since this video I have actually moved them farther away and back and considering mounting them behind my listening position👍🏻
What's the projector life?
20,000 hours for this laser projector. In comparison, my Epson 5040UB has a lamp rating of 3000 hrs
Do your own home theater tour I want to see your home theater pleaseeeee
Thanks this on the to do list very shortly since I have a lot of new equipment, Theater Seats etc. but here is a tour of my room from 2019 - ua-cam.com/video/9rQxNd1Lf38/v-deo.html
I have already seen your 2019 home theater tour and now I want see your latest home theater upgrades please do a 2020 home theater tour
@@fozianaveed5044 It's on the to do list
I am waiting for your home theater 2020 video
Hey I’m a vet and I’m broke so if some of you guys with time and money please donate something to help this guy keep this gear he obviously likes it and deserves it.
Is it just me or does that screen NOT look 8 feet wide (96")? It looked smaller during the install video and still looks smaller now. The dimensions should be 55" tall by 97" wide (including black trim).
Weird.
Could be my wide angle lens.
@@Youthman Yeah, I thought about that. I'm guessing that you are using an aspherical, really wide angle lens. They prevent the fishbowl-like distortion, but can distort the relative sizes. Kind of like that scene from the original Jurassic Park movie ("Objects in the mirror are closer [and larger] than they appear"). 😏
When you were standing in front of the screen in the previous video in this series it looked like you could spread your arms AND touch both edges at the same time.
Thanks for the reply!
I use a 15-35mm lens.
@@Youthman On a full frame camera? That would explain it.
Correct Canon R6
The center channel is to low
If it's angled upward that location is fine.
jsil36 I do have it elevated to position to listening position. I am considering my options but this works for me and the entertainment center I built myself (first time ever making.... anything from wood) 😂. Would love to hear your recommendation and preference too!👍🏻
@@bucfan1993
I couldn't see it in the video.
jsil36 I used angled speaker foam.
He used to have it much higher before we added the UST projector but placing the center under the projector causes the image to be too high. He does have it angled up at his listening position.
wouldn't being 100% disabled make you a vegetable?
8k and budget in the same sentence????
I said I’m the video apart from the projector it is a budget setup. A VAVA projector would make this a budget UST setup
"budget"
My pair of subwoofers are $5,000 so considering he does t even have a subwoofer, I would say yes. My friend has a $100,000 home theater. Budget is relative.
Press on video because of title, but if you call this set up budget, then you are rich guy!
With your title you deceiving people!
Everyone’s idea of “budget” is different. I have done home theater tours on my channel up to $100,000 so yes, I would still consider this setup very budget friendly. If you are looking for a $300 home theater in a box with a 65” TV from Black Friday, this likely isn’t the channel for you. Thanks for watching.
@@Youthmanl was looking for budget home theater 👈 and NOT $300 set-up from black Friday ! I don't fallow your channel, and don't know how expensive setups you reviewing.
All what I'm saying is :
If you type on UA-cam search budget home theater then this is absolutely not budget !
@@hmfilms3506 I understand where you are coming from but again, this is budget when it comes to home theaters. It is by far the least expensive theater tour I have reviewed on my channel. The only thing that isn't budget friendly is the projector but as I shared in the video, VAVA would make this even more budget friendly as it's around $2000 - $3000 vs the $6000 LG UST projector.
phew. back to reality.
Haha. I try to present all size and budgets so there’s something for everyone. 😀
