Planting Bermuda grass for grazing cattle Great Plains seed drill, John Deere 6403 and Ford 5600 Tractor Texas Tough Bermuda Grass Mix www.turnerseed.com/texas-toug...
I've had good luck with Cowboy Bermuda from Turner seed. Both times I've planted it I've been able to graze in the Fall. I've also planted WW B-Dahl four times and it's amazing stuff for grazing cattle
Great video, I see the Cowboy Bermuda and the WW, are these coastal types? I’m also wondering if I could use a Hay King or aerator and broadcast Bermuda over my mixed grass?
Coastal is a type of Bermuda that can only be planted by sprigging "roots" that are dug out of the ground. Cowboy is a mixture of several types of Bermuda that can be grown from seed. WW B Dahl is a bluestem bunch grass that is grown from really tiny seeds. It's amazing for cow grazing and cow hay as long as there isn't sometimes standing water.
I need to plant my pasture which was almost all sandburs. 1 hour SE of San Antonio. I thought bermuda seed was sterile? I'm looking into SPRIGGING with Coastal Bermuda.
Coastal, Jiggs, & Tifton must be sprigged but there are other varieties of Bermuda that can be seeded like common and giant. I planted a 3 type mix called Texas Tuff
@@LewisRenovation thanks Lewis. I planted Elbon rye in September. It's not a perrinial but I wanted to have something other than sandburs. I'm now wondering how to get pasture grazing grass started where I planted the rye. My thought is to seed into the rye then roll crimp it down onto the seeds.
Obviously you are planting a common type of Bermuda because ours is a Hybrid Cross so the seed are sterile so we have to plant spriggs.......(Tifton 44)
Great video. New follower. We are in North Texas and I’m studying what kind of grass I want to put out this spring. Appreciate the video.

I'm usually listening to either Aaron Watson, Craig Morgan, or Ted Nugent while I work.
Quite a variety of music!
5lbs per acre seems so little. I've read elsewhere that 20lbs would work too. Any disadvantages with seeding too much?
I think the concern with over seeding, besides price, is all the additional new grass sprouts compete with each other for water

@@garrymitcham7693 I would round up the rye at the beginning of April and seed or sprig at the end of April
What part of Texas is this ?
Central near Temple. Are you from Texas as well?
Don't die from the Roundup.
I’ll try not to

Nice choice!
AC/DC
Very nice! Music from my high school years

It’s an improved variety of Bermuda with viable seeds. I have pasture of half Jiggs and have this seeded variety and they produce the same
Just country music please❤
Country music is all good!
@@LewisRenovation ❤️❤️ Yes it is! Happy New Year and stay country!

Texas Red Dirt music
Yes. My favorite too.
Can you come to Lacoste Texas and seed my 10 acres
Might be a long drive on a tractor 😀
leave yourself a bigger headland, then you don't have to make such a harsh turn around
I guess that equipment belongs to you. If you were as violent turning around on my equipment I would fire you. Be kind to your equipment...
20 years of using the split breaks as they are intended and the tractor is still going strong
@@LewisRenovation well, that is what they're for. Lol
@massey_2298 exactly! Thanks for commenting
