Well you can hit the cash Machine in Whitehorse and resupply at Walmart... lol! Outside of lonely stretches of highway. It's like driving to work in Minnesota all winter...lol??

I work in a diamond mine up in the Arctic. Extremely beautiful country but it gives a whole new meaning to painfully cold haha. Omg you should have stopped at hungry herbies for a monster burger in cache creek BC. Sooo good!!
I gotta say as someone new to the channel, the drone footage of the winter landscapes is just amazing! and the 'fast-forwarding through through front window' is really nice too because is gives you an actual perspective without taking too long. Keep up the good work and keep exploring! There's hundreds of little towns up there going all the way to the Bering Sea as far West as Wales, Alaska. *Liked & Subscribed.

Thank you Chad! That is a long hike from where you came from. Chad, the thing I love most about your videos, is there’s no Drama! It’s nice just sit and watch a relaxing, interesting video. I would like to see you make Breakfast. I always find your dinners appealing. So breakout the skillet and make some breakfast van style.
Hey, Jesse- No drama by design. Life has enough drama without adding more in your favorite vids, right?! Breakfast.... Good idea! I normally have just a simple yogurt and granola before starting my day, but a nice skillet breakfast sounds good! Thanks for watching!
I loved everything about this video! The sprinter van is a beast!! So cool! LOVE the drone shots. Absolutely beautiful landscape up there. The icy roads had me on the edge of my seat. Not gonna lie! I’ve driven icy roads way too many times. Thanks for sharing with us Chad. Can’t wait for part 2!!

As an Irishman who lived in Canada for 10 years pretty envious that I never created the opportunity to do anything like your doing but now I am doing through you great job Chad.
Hi;my name is Kelsea,I'm 19 years old,and I'm going to Norway north of the 66th parallel for 6 months in November with my self-built 419 Sprinter.It is 7 meters long, almost 3 meters high, and weighs 4.1 tons.I sleep (except for storms) in the roof tent.I have installed a 4 KW diesel heater, as well as a bathroom with shower and toilet.I also have 3 x 12V 200Ah lithium batteries for my electrical devices.In contrast to you, I do not travel all alone, but have my Alaska Malamute as an accompaniment.I really liked this first part - I'll watch the second part right away. Greetings from Germany,Kelsea
YES! This has what I've been waiting for. Welcome back Chad to winter camping. I found your channel last winter and fell in love with it. I am so happy you are back into winter camping. Stay safe and warm! Hello from Michigan!
This poem is a bit long but I think anyone who takes the time to read the whole thing will love the way it ends. It just fits in beautifully with your trip to the Actic Ocean. The Cremation of Sam McGee, By Robert W. Service Now Sam McGee was from Tennessee, where the cotton blooms and blows. Why he left his home in the South to roam 'round the Pole, God only knows. He was always cold, but the land of gold seemed to hold him like a spell; Though he'd often say in his homely way that 'he'd sooner live in hell'. On a Christmas Day we were mushing our way over the Dawson trail. Talk of your cold! through the parka's fold it stabbed like a driven nail. If our eyes we'd close, then the lashes froze till sometimes we couldn't see; It wasn't much fun, but the only one to whimper was Sam McGee. And that very night, as we lay packed tight in our robes beneath the snow, And the dogs were fed, and the stars o'erhead were dancing heel and toe, He turned to me, and 'Cap,' says he, 'I'll cash in this trip, I guess; And if I do, I'm asking that you won't refuse my last request.' Well, he seemed so low that I couldn't say no; then he says with a sort of moan: 'It's the cursed cold, and it's got right hold till I'm chilled clean through to the bone. Yet 'taint being dead - it's my awful dread of the icy grave that pains; So I want you to swear that, foul or fair, you'll cremate my last remains.' A pal's last need is a thing to heed, so I swore I would not fail; And we started on at the streak of dawn; but God! he looked ghastly pale. He crouched on the sleigh, and he raved all day of his home in Tennessee; And before nightfall a corpse was all that was left of Sam McGee. There wasn't a breath in that land of death, and I hurried, horror-driven, With a corpse half hid that I couldn't get rid, because of a promise given; It was lashed to the sleigh, and it seemed to say: 'You may tax your brawn and brains, But you promised true, and it's up to you to cremate those last remains.' Now a promise made is a debt unpaid, and the trail has its own stern code. In the days to come, though my lips were dumb, in my heart how I cursed that load. In the long, long night, by the lone firelight, while the huskies, round in a ring, Howled out their woes to the homeless snows -O God! how I loathed the thing. And every day that quiet clay seemed to heavy and heavier grow; And on I went, though the dogs were spent and the grub was getting low; The trail was bad, and I felt half mad, but I swore I would not give in; And I'd often sing to the hateful thing, and it hearkened with a grin. Till I came to the marge of Lake Lebarge, and a derelict there lay; It was jammed in the ice, but I saw in a trice it was called the 'Alice May.' And I looked at it, and I thought a bit, and I looked at my frozen chum; Then 'Here,' said I, with a sudden cry, 'is my cre-ma-tor-eum.' Some planks I tore from the cabin floor, and I lit the boiler fire; Some coal I found that was lying around, and I heaped the fuel higher; The flames just soared, and the furnace roared - such a blaze you seldom see; And I burrowed a hole in the glowing coal, and I stuffed in Sam McGee. Then I made a hike, for I didn't like to hear him sizzle so; And the heavens scowled, and the huskies howled, and the wind began to blow. It was icy cold, but the hot sweat rolled down my cheeks, and I don't know why; And the greasy smoke in an inky cloak went streaking down the sky. I do not know how long in the snow I wrestled with grisly fear; But the stars came out and they danced about ere again I ventured near; I was sick with dread, but I bravely said: 'I'll just take a peep inside. I guess he's cooked, and it's time I looked then the door I opened wide. And there sat Sam, looking cool and calm, in the heart of the furnace roar; And he wore a smile you could see a mile, and he said: 'Please close that door. It's fine in here, but I greatly fear you'll let in the cold and storm - Since I left Plumtree, down in Tennessee, it's the first time I've been warm.' There are strange things done in the midnight sun By the men who moil for gold; The Arctic trails have their secret tales That would make your blood run cold; The Northern Lights have seen queer sights, But the queerest they ever did see Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge I cremated Sam McGee. I would love to see a comment from anyone who read the entire poem and know what you thought of it.
This looks like the start of a fantastic adventure. Basically I'm watching to see how the Mercedes-Benz holds up. I wish you all the luck on this journey and I'll be looking at the next episode in a second 😂👍☮️🇺🇲
Thanks for sharing your amazing journey. I love the scenery from all the different angles. Watching your videos will probably be the closest I get to experience the Artics. Safe journeys to you!
Dear Chad, this is really an adventure! Literally a very cool trip...😉. But it´s fascinating, what kind of great pictures you made so far. I´m looking forward to the 2nd part, I´m curious, how the van is performing under such brutal conditions. Really worth for waiting so long, thanks for this great video! Many greetings from Wuppertal, Germany, Wolfgang. 😃👍👍👍
He’s got a great attitude about the journey & I appreciate the candid shots of remote gas stations & lodges as well as the drone footage showing the vast expanses he’s sojourning through. About 23 years ago I set off into interior Alaska for two summers for many of the same reasons / seeking adventure & finding one’s self. Thank you for the content, man.
Love the inside of your van the window film is an excellent addition, Sounds like this will be an epic adventure . fantastic footage snowy but beautiful , sure would not want to be stuck out on the highway up there . moving on to part 2
Just subscribed to your channel after watching this episode. Awesome adventure! Also went back and watched your build episodes. Love the attention to detail during your build process. Keep the vids coming. Greetings from BC 🇨🇦
Thank you for bringing me there from the Philippines. It is amazing that we thought of the same thing in terms of the changes in landscapes and vegetation. I've been playing red dead redemption 2 and the changes from like desert to some arctic like places in the game and it is just amazing.
Amazing as always Chad. Living in Australia, these trips certainly give many of us a view of the world we may never see or inspiration to do so. Also. Your YT vids are the most Shazam’d. The artist you find and your perfect way featuring them in your vids have now found a home on my play lists. Maya Isac at the start of this episode was brilliant. Loved it.
Well Chad, I just found your channel on UA-cam & watched your Part 1 to Arctic Ocean. I must tell you right off the bat.....I hate you. You are doing something I have wanted to do for the past 15 plus years, but my health has kept me from doing it. I have a friend right outside Prince George on a couple hundred acres wilderness building his own log cabin. You all just amaze me. I really don't hate you, Chad.....just envy you. The drone shots take my breath away. It reminds me of some of the scenes in S. King's movie Dreamcatcher. This supposedly was in Maine, but the shots remind me of what you just passed through. I'm just a 68 yr. old woman living in Tennessee, homebound & I do believe I'm going to be following you along on your adventures. Stay warm & I can hardly wait to see more of your trip. Thank you muches for sharing it with me., Jamie Crabtree-Messenger.......Tennessee
Chad, "Van Life in the Arctic" caught my eye... and what a find! This is pure adventure. I would not have the courage to travel alone in such conditions. My past RV travels never came close to your chosen destination...I'm on the edge of my seat. I am amazed as to how you were able to take such beautiful drone videos while driving in such challenging driving conditions. Beautiful sceneary. I would have never started your journey without a good stash of cash as a backup though. I'm onto your part 2. Great work!
Thanks for giving me the idea for the road trip. I loaded up my 2015 Rogue, Sept 1 2022 and completed the trip from Halifax Nova Scotia to Tuktayuktuk. I tented along the way. The Yukon was amazing!
Congratulations for this new adventure and the fantastic film with the best music of all the Travellers here on UA-cam. Greetings from Germany, Andreas
Great series so far, can't wait to watch the rest. I wonder how many folk you have converted into van dwellers..? You make it look so interesting and dare I say it, easy, which I am sure it isn't an easy life to lead, losing all/most of your creature comforts of a home but I would love to do it one day, I don't think I would ever have the opportunity tbh. I will live vicariously through channels like yours for the time being. 👍
Awesome adventure! You never disappoint Chad! Always feels like I'm watching a movie with your productions. Keep on trucking! I appreciate all the work you go through to make these video’s, the drone shots to putting yourself out there in remote places at the mercy of mother nature! I enjoy the video’s Keep safe Chad! See you in your next video!
23:43 I felt like watching a mission impossible movie... That sound track that surroundings ...and above all THE VAN...💯 Universal picture 🎥🎬.this will hit 10M in no time. Legitimately done.
Hey Chad….love your Artic Adventures…I’m a truck driver in Canada for 43 years…I’d still be adding some fuel conditioner in those cold climates, especially when you are on the highway…don’t want your fuel freezing up in those remote areas…keep the vids coming…Cheers….Howie
Wow, just found your video, beautiful land and what a trip. I am 63 years old so I don't think I would attempt this trip so I am glad I get to see it from your video. Thank you, stay safe.
I don't think age has a direct bearing on a trip like this, Laura. Rather, are you fit, are you experienced, do you understand what you and your rig demand to survive such temperatures and challenges? Lots of preparations and pre-trip planning. It certainly isn't a trip to be taken lightly. Thanks for joining me for the adventure-
Fabulous and Epic! Reminder, it’s all about the journey and not the destination! Enjoy the drive. Just my unsolicited input. 35 mph is fine when that’s what the conditions warrant. Congratulations on 625,000 subscribers! Holy cow! I think I was onboard around 35K! Just noticed! Thanks
Isn't it crazy!! 35k, that's been awhile back in the old Westphalia days. Thanks for coming along and your support on all the great adventures, RV Boondocker-
Thanks for showing us your life in a van. Your videos are like watching National Geographic. I lived in my van for a year when it wasn't so popular. I hid it from my friends. It was the best time of my life. I live in a 40ft travel trailer, luxury now. I bought 11 acres in DBNF on the Rockcastle River in the mountains. I do it because living in the van made me so greatful and humble. I love adventure and Van Life Living is always about Survival and Adventure.
Thanks, Robert, for the kind words. It's crazy how popular living in your van has become. When I started the channel 11 yrs ago there were only 2-3 other van content creators out there. And now..... So many! Yes, van life is definitely very humbling as it teaches you how to live a truly minimalist lifestyle. Good luck to you, sounds like you enjoy a piece of paradise on the river. Thanks for watching!
You really did it this time!! Winter camping to the extreme!!! I know that mac and cheese was delicious and those window coverings gave me comfort I didn't know I needed. Excited for your next adventures and so glad you're comfortable and safe!
I'm in a wheelchair, living vicariously through you, friend! THANK YOU!!
Cheers Barb! Thanks for watching!
Inspiring ❤
Ooohh my sweet heart.... I just hope that you are living your life at best... 🫂🫂🫂 and everything is fine with you.... Just take care of yourself
Putting out content in 2 months solo what a film crew takes a year to do. Production value of your videos blows my mind. Amazing
It's crazy!!
he is on IMDB videographer for movies i think or something like that. Been while I checked it.
Agreed!!
This has to be one of the best content ever made on your channel and on UA-cam 👏
Nothing but respect and appreciation
Very true...
My thoughts exactly. What a treat.
I drove trucks in Alaska for years, one thing I loved was the trip from Anchorage to Seattle, such a beautiful drive. I sure do miss it.
All people wanted was a simple easy going winter camping video.
Chad : hold my beer, I am travelling to Arctic.

It wasn't much fun, but the only one to whimper was Sam McGee.
And that very night, as we lay packed tight in our robes beneath the snow,
And the dogs were fed, and the stars o'erhead were dancing heel and toe,
He turned to me, and 'Cap,' says he, 'I'll cash in this trip, I guess;
And if I do, I'm asking that you won't refuse my last request.'
Well, he seemed so low that I couldn't say no; then he says with a sort of moan:
'It's the cursed cold, and it's got right hold till I'm chilled clean through to the bone.
Yet 'taint being dead - it's my awful dread of the icy grave that pains;
So I want you to swear that, foul or fair, you'll cremate my last remains.'
A pal's last need is a thing to heed, so I swore I would not fail;
And we started on at the streak of dawn; but God! he looked ghastly pale.
He crouched on the sleigh, and he raved all day of his home in Tennessee;
And before nightfall a corpse was all that was left of Sam McGee.
There wasn't a breath in that land of death, and I hurried, horror-driven,
With a corpse half hid that I couldn't get rid, because of a promise given;
It was lashed to the sleigh, and it seemed to say: 'You may tax your brawn and brains,
But you promised true, and it's up to you to cremate those last remains.'
Now a promise made is a debt unpaid, and the trail has its own stern code.
In the days to come, though my lips were dumb, in my heart how I cursed that load.
In the long, long night, by the lone firelight, while the huskies, round in a ring,
Howled out their woes to the homeless snows -O God! how I loathed the thing.
And every day that quiet clay seemed to heavy and heavier grow;
And on I went, though the dogs were spent and the grub was getting low;
The trail was bad, and I felt half mad, but I swore I would not give in;
And I'd often sing to the hateful thing, and it hearkened with a grin.
Till I came to the marge of Lake Lebarge, and a derelict there lay;
It was jammed in the ice, but I saw in a trice it was called the 'Alice May.'
And I looked at it, and I thought a bit, and I looked at my frozen chum;
Then 'Here,' said I, with a sudden cry, 'is my cre-ma-tor-eum.'
Some planks I tore from the cabin floor, and I lit the boiler fire;
Some coal I found that was lying around, and I heaped the fuel higher;
The flames just soared, and the furnace roared - such a blaze you seldom see;
And I burrowed a hole in the glowing coal, and I stuffed in Sam McGee.
Then I made a hike, for I didn't like to hear him sizzle so;
And the heavens scowled, and the huskies howled, and the wind began to blow.
It was icy cold, but the hot sweat rolled down my cheeks, and I don't know why;
And the greasy smoke in an inky cloak went streaking down the sky.
I do not know how long in the snow I wrestled with grisly fear;
But the stars came out and they danced about ere again I ventured near;
I was sick with dread, but I bravely said: 'I'll just take a peep inside.
I guess he's cooked, and it's time I looked then the door I opened wide.
And there sat Sam, looking cool and calm, in the heart of the furnace roar;
And he wore a smile you could see a mile, and he said: 'Please close that door.
It's fine in here, but I greatly fear you'll let in the cold and storm -
Since I left Plumtree, down in Tennessee, it's the first time I've been warm.'
There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold;
The Arctic trails have their secret tales
That would make your blood run cold;
The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I cremated Sam McGee.
I would love to see a comment from anyone who read the entire poem and know what you thought of it.
A movie, i imagined it to be.
One of the best vlogger on snow storm
Love the inside of your van the window film is an excellent addition, Sounds like this will be an epic adventure . fantastic footage snowy but beautiful , sure would not want to be stuck out on the highway up there . moving on to part 2
this, my friends, is what real freedom looks like.
O Lordy! Love this video - your editing and choice of music are beyond mind-blowing!!!!!
Loved it.
Love the little transition at 17:50
Watching all the way from Guyana, South America. Love the channel.
Thank you!
Thank you muches for sharing it with me.,
Jamie Crabtree-Messenger.......Tennessee
Great one Chad !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to watch.
Great work!
Well done Chad! Great storytelling as usual. Stoked to check out episode 2&3!
Forwards Ever, Backwards Never
Epic adventure and you never disappoint Chad! Always feels like I'm watching a movie with your productions. Keep on truckin' ;-)
Thanks for giving me the idea for the road trip. I loaded up my 2015 Rogue, Sept 1 2022 and completed the trip from Halifax Nova Scotia to Tuktayuktuk. I tented along the way. The Yukon was amazing!
Well, that would be an amazing feat......
Congratulations for this new adventure and the fantastic film with the best music of all the Travellers
here on UA-cam.
These are incredibly well produced - wondering how long it takes you to get those wide drone shots?
23:43 I felt like watching a mission impossible movie... That sound track that surroundings ...and above all THE VAN...💯 Universal picture 🎥🎬.this will hit 10M in no time. Legitimately done.
Great video Chad loving the snowy scenery and wilderness of it all
Great episode Chad! Can't wait till the next one.
Bother, that is an amazing vid, drone shots, travel dialogue...simply awesome !!
This is the best content
Chad is camping in the Arctic.
can't wait until the next Episode..😍😍
Thanks for coming along and your support on all the great adventures, RV Boondocker-
Possibly the best van lifer on the planet
That's exactly what I feel my Astro van today go anywhere under any conditions
Wow. I almost didn’t click on the thumbnail but I’m so glad I did. Another great, innovative and interesting channel! Now I’m hooked!
I love the arctic. Alaska is home for me, and always will be to my heart.
You really did it this time!! Winter camping to the extreme!!! I know that mac and cheese was delicious and those window coverings gave me comfort I didn't know I needed. Excited for your next adventures and so glad you're comfortable and safe!
Superb Chad. Nobody does drone shots quite like you. Stay safe..........and warm.
The only outdoor channel i'd love to watch
Je viens de passer un bon moment avec ce voyage ! Je regarde vos autres vidéos et c'est la même chose ! que du bonheur... Merci beaucoup
Kraken spiced rum and Old Jamaica ginger beer is also one to beat. Another amazing video, Sir.
