In February of 2022, in search of the ultimate discomfort in van life, I decided to challenge myself with driving my 2022 Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 all the way to the frozen Arctic Ocean in the middle of winter. I originally released a series of 3 videos documenting my travels. This is the FULL DOCUMENTARY film of my travels to see if it is ACTUALLY possible to live in my van in these extreme winter conditions. Now this is not simply driving my van from one comfortable warm hotel to the next... This is LIVING in my van during my trek to the Arctic. Is it possible to survive the extreme winter temperatures of the frozen arctic tundra?
This guy blows Discovery and the History channel out of the water with his filming and editing skills, he's an awesome creator, and also crazy for actually doing these extreme trips he's awesome, and thank you buddy ✌️
agree 100% wish we had more content but realize that to make this type of video takes a lot of time
yes awesome channel
@@hdc2766 also quality>quantity
💯 agree, the dron shots are crazy.
Im Watching it on 230" projector screen in cinema mode.🤯🤯.
One of the channels I never skip adds on.
Thx Chad.👍
Do you need a napkin? He's ok.
I'm 88 yrs old was a truck driver out of Bend, Ore. owned, and drove trucks for over 30 yrs. Ive. been to a few places myself, But this [Your ] adventure, I was just a passenger!! But what a great trip it was !! Thank You for your Fabulous work . I shall go with you again on this adventure. Thanks and God Bless !! KennyMan
I stumbled onto this video because I follow a couple of other vandwellers, but I could not believe how great this single video was!
The trip itself, the drone footage, Chad's positive attitude, and the array of visual and situational presentations was by far the best UA-cam video I believe I've ever seen.
Great job Chad.
Rick
Wow! Thanks for the kind words, Rick! Hopefully you can find some time to check out some of Living the Van Life's previous episodes and travels. Cheers!
Me also Lol
@@LivingTheVanLife What was the overall price of this build? This looks like a close to 100k build tbh
Thank you so much. !
Absolutely spellbinding!
Awesome footage! Great job,Chad!
The production value of this guys videos are as good as any documentary I’ve seen, dare I say even better. Absolute joy to watch the adventure.
I live in Pa. I’m a Grandmom and because I’ve never traveled anywhere in this United States let alone Canada, I’m just letting you know I loved this trip you took all the way up to the Arctic Ocean. I loved all of your stops along the way and all your drone scenery. I was in awe of all of your trip, and me at 79 yrs old in November, would never or could never make. Loved it all and will watch more of your traveling. I had an Aunt that lived in Bellingham, Washington, and have 3 cousins with there families that still live in that area. My Aunt lived till she was 105 yrs old. She died of old age in 2020. I really miss her and looked up to her. I was surprised that you said you were from there. I now live alone in my old age near Hershey Park where they make all that wonderful Hershey candy. So I was with you on this trip and that little puppy made the trip all worth while to me anyway. You take care getting back home and a safe trip to you. By the way, my name is Betty and I loved it all. You take care.
I love this guy to. I have a niece around his age many times I’ve thought what a wonderful couple they’d make. She would enjoy his travels and would paint all that beautiful scenery. I too live in Pa
In love in Lancaster PA let’s travel together 😂😂😂
@@Hustlerfrr that’s not funny, your a young buck and I’m an old married lady
@@lisamillerbuchert9447 I am buying an Earthroamer soon. How old is your niece? I am looking for a good woman. Do they still exist?
@@metalman69201 they do still exist 😊
UA-cam needs to bump this up their Algorithm. It should have millions of views. Amazing filming and narration Chad.
Thank you!
I totally agree.
Genuinely one of the most beautiful documentary movies I have ever seen. The way you managed to drive over 2500 miles into the cold, snowy unknown while letting us in on the adventure, and all the while being a curious and respectful visitor… really well done. Thank you for this beautiful gift!
Chad filming is out of this world! Congrats man, you are second to none! I must say, Canada is majestic! Thank you! 👍
His channel blows discovery channel easy. Hopefully chad don’t sell his skills the “doohickeys channel” 😂😂his maverick one of kind.😎👍🤙
that doggo welcoming you at the atlantic ocean was the cutest thing ever🥰 And the northern light time-lapse looked unreal. good stuff!
Yeah, taking a dog for his evening walk. Real adventure I'll say.
Atlantic Ocean? I thought it was the Artic? Oh well. I'm still trying to figure out what parts of Alaska borders Canada lol
Where did the poor dog go ? I love dogs.:)
@@maryscavone5622 I was wondering too. I hope he took the dog with him. Seem super sad to just leave him there.😢
@@maryscavone5622 The owners came and got him.
I cried at the end of this video because of how freaking astonish I was. You should be really proud of yourself and what you’ve accomplished 🧡
It was that good .... ❤
Chad - you probably won’t see this, but this is one of the most outstanding UA-cam videos I have ever come across. The filming, the narration, the beautiful drone shots, absolutely second to none.
I came across your channel 2 years ago and became a subscriber. I watch a lot of your winter camping videos around Christmas time. You truly make these so that we as viewers feel we are right there with you on your adventure.
Thank you for all that you do, you are an inspiration!
Cody
Hey, Cody, glad to have you along for the adventure. My pleasure! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel-
Chad, I'm just floored. Absolutely outstanding work on this one! The shots of the mountains and ranges are mesmerizing. I'm surprised the Drone could handle the low temps. Thanks for enriching my life once again by taking trips I'd love to take, but simply can't due to life constraints. You're an amazing human being Brother!
Thanks so much, John, for coming along on the adventure and the kind words- Cheers!

What an amazing filmmaker this man is. Over the years watching this man's journey has been amazing.
I have watched this video 3 times already, entirely. It is safe to say this is the best video I have ever seen. Such beauty, thanks for taking us along in this adventure.
Wow! Thanks for your support of the channel, Gloria- Cheers!
Don't forget give this a 👍 Gives it a major boost and it's the least we can do for this epic, monumental adventure! Thanks for bringing us along Chad. Love from the UK 🥰
Thank you!!
@@LivingTheVanLife the dog at the end of the road made me laugh . He's like, " what's the hundred thousand dollar van for? Why do you need a heater? What, you can't just walk and run for miles? " For you it was a big accomplishment and for him it was just another Tuesday. 😀 Very cool film. The dog was such a great commentary on relativism.. plus it sounds fun to pet a dog in the middle of nowhere at some random house or businesses after a long trip.
Your a good dude Chad. You spending time with that pup was heart warming to see, as most would never do that. Im a dog lover myself and hope the little guy went back home and is nice and warm on a bed somewhere, where a dog belongs! Keep up the good work sir.
I thought the same thing I would have took it with me it seemed to like him perfect dog for van life he stayed right with him.

What a well documented adventure, I didn’t want it to end, great job Chad!!
Thank you!
Congratulations Chad, on making it to the top of your Arctic mountain!
As a 73 yr old grandma with an adventurer’s heart, I loved every minute of your trek!! Your cinematography & editing are spectacular!! Seeing the sunshine on the snowy landscapes were some of my favorite shots.
Thank you for taking us along on a trip all of us will not soon forget!

Thank you, Judith, for the kind words and your support of the channel- Cheers!
Dude them drone shots are epic great editing from the choice of the music to the cinematography it was a great movie what an adventure thank you for taking us along
Watching on my tv but pulled this up on my phone just to see like minded people enthused about the filming (especially the drone) how does he pilot it while driving? There must be a “follow” mode or something of the sorts
I don't see how you manage the drone so far away and driving. How do you do that? I am A 74 Grandmother. Stay safe . Yes you are blessed 🙌
I came across this video by chance, and was so impressed by the filming, the scenery, everything, in fact. I’ll defo be watching more of this guy’s videos.
Being honest, this is one of the most incredible documentary I’ve ever seen.
There are less that 5 documentary that marked me, and this is one of them.
Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us.
He's fearless💕. He deserves ALL the awards, cinematography, editing, soundtrack, the "script," ALL of it!" I haven't seen them all, but he has to be one of the best film editors, etc on UA-cam. 💕
Fearless? I thought that word was reserved for ghetto rat poets.
Love your winter van videos...especially those you do during snow storms....hope you do more!
I can say your channel and especially this film is one of the most breathtaking real life films I have watched. My friend I have watched several of your films and I am astonished. I have been watching you from Greece (Athens) for a couple of months. I have to say that I find the way you built your mercedes van, the way your organize you travels, the practicality of the storage spaces, the planning of the tools you carry with you depending of the places you travel, the well thought plans, the attention you pay, the proactive attitude on how you are going to deal with emergencies and of course the pictures and videos you present that to the viewer......is AMAZING. Congratulations my friend !!! You have a HUGE GIFT!!!
Shortest 1hr and 48mins of my life. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Incredible! May just be my favorite youtube video of all time. I've watched hundreds maybe thousands. Thank you! So nice to be able to go an adventure with you, and just be warm at home. You deserve the joy of actually being there.
I, too, feel that this is my favorite UA-cam video, period!
Having a van is my utmost dream, a dream that might have to stay a dream. I have rented vans for my holidays here in AU but just unable to afford one. This man is so skilled in cinematography and we are so lucky for him to dedicate his skills to people that love the van life. Thanking you is an understatement.

Chad I hope you read your comments. I just want to say that you’re an inspiration. I’m retired Military and have been through a lot and seen a lot. Your videos have helped me deal with those issues. What an amazing and beautiful video, it was very relaxing to watch the beautiful raw isolation and to appreciate the community of the Northwest Territories.
The northern light show was epic, must have been awe inspiring to experience it !
Great work guy and all the best from the UK
Sometimes I wonder if people who make these realize what a blessing they are to those of us who can’t travel. I have traveled all over the United States through these videos, and yet it’s hard for me to drive much more than an hour. So thank you so much for your amazing work, it is really wonderful. Keep up the great work.
One of the best things about your channel is that it appeals to every age group! When I have several generations of family over, I can play it knowing everyone will love it and be inspired to go out and find an adventure. ❤
One of my goals when creating episodes, so glad to hear it's coming through in the content. Thank you!
Your videography and editing skills are absolutely second to none. That was such a pleasure to watch, although I did find myself worrying about the van, but it performed flawlessly. 👍
Thanks for watching!
I really like the set up of your Sprinter Van.
TIP: Here's a tip to keep your pan from boiling over. Just put a wooden spoon across pan and it won't boil over!

I salute you, i felt sorry for that puppy almost like all he needed was companionship. That was a beautiful thing you did, bringing it inside to get warm and a hot meal
Chad -- One of my favorite YT videos of all times. You deserve several million views for all this hard work and I'm sure you will get them. I know it was brutally cold out there; we sincerely appreciate you taking us along on this "journey of a lifetime". Your van was a real trooper too. Appreciate you looking after that pup. Thank you for the wonderful adventure to the Arctic. It got so cold I actually had to put on a heavy sweater! LOL! This was the best vicarious trip I can remember taking. So beautiful and so very informative. I especially like the part where you found the little puppy. He was so cute!
Beautiful scenery, amazingly captured. To film it so well while harshing those conditions and making headway as well is a monumental effort. Enjoyed every bit of the adventure!

Most people dream of tropical climates - the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the South Pacific. Not me. I long for Antarctica. Canada has become a more realistic and manageable stand in. So when I saw Foresty do this trip, I almost lost my mind. And now I get to do it again. The first scene of you with the beer is now my background. And I really appreciate you showing some love and respect to the dog by making sure he was accounted for. Just because they are bred for the weather doesn't mean he couldn't have been abandoned, so I'm glad you made sure he got home. Thank you so much!! 🙏🏻💙❄

You got me at about 17 and a half minutes when you opened your fridge and I saw your sticker that said ''Make America Kind Again''...I had only watched this for the Arctic interest, although I am a van lifer, and I hadn't subscribed until NOW...Indeed...lets make America kind again...from a Canadian neighbor friend and ally who loved loved loved visiting the USA until things got ugly...when I saw Nazi flags being proudly carried down the street in the USA, my heart broke...it was the final straw...and I haven't seen my American friends and family since as I refuse to cross the border until people have learned to be kind again...Love that sticker!...and yes, I subscribed...LOL...love the attitude too....travel safe my friend.

Just catching this now. Planning the "same" journey next summer. Lived in Whitehorse in 1968- 69. Returned to the Yukon in 2018 to Keno Hill to experience the Summer Solstice in the midnight sun (bucket list item). Heading to the Arctic Circle in 2025 via the Dempster during the Summer. You have learned about the North in North America. I admire your tenacity. I ice skated in the backyard ice rink in Whitehorse in 45 deg F in 1968. My wonderful mother kept repeating, "After 10 minutes, you've got to sit next to the furnace" (in French Canadian). A wonderful, privileged childhood living in many places in Canada. The Yukon was my favourite. It's all good to experience these adventures. Take care.
Oops, ice skated in mi us 45 deg F.
Dude awesome video. You have to do more adventures like this. I need more content like this. I watched it previously when it was in separate parts. I had to subscribe after seeing it. Your shots were so well edited it, it could’ve been for TV.
