I'm an older lady, disabled so living vicariously thru you. I love you videos and drive to go to places rarely visited. I am worried about your safety on this trip. do you have a sat phone in case of emergencies? please be careful and warm. Hugs from this old grandma.
Thanks, but i'm mobility challanged.. can only walk maybe 10ft then knees give out and have to sit in a chair with feet elevated for about 20-30min before going again. Awating knee surgery but not looking promising in the near future. 😕
I'm an older lady also and I would give anything to live out the rest of my day's doing what this man is doing! It's just not the same watching it on UA-cam but I guess it's better than nothing!
Every time I watch one of his amazing videos I’m reminded why I don’t miss having a tv. It’s like watching the best produced tv show I’ve ever seen. Thanks for sharing Chad, I’m a big fan ♥️👍
Chad, your travels and documentation are on level with epic series like “Long Way Around”. Except they had a support and film crew. Your solo adventures are inspiring and amazing! Thank you for letting us be part of it.
Long Way Around had a team of support vehicles from BBC and that was directed with too much drama etc. Chad does it all by himself and his filming and editing is better imo.
What did you have to do to prepare yourself for this Arctic Circle trip? How did you prepare your equipment and yourself physically and mentally and spiritually. I love video you have made.
AND epic drone shots of the mountains around 18:00. Thanks for sharing those with us. In case I don't go see them myself, you showed me all I will ever see of them.
How do you do the drone tracking shots of your vehicle . Do you stop , send it up, then fix on the van in “track me “ mode, and drive awhile , then stop and bring it in? What drone do you use? Man I enjoy your content. Just as much a van lifer as a filmmaker .
My wife and I had the privilege of living in Northern Alberta, Canada for a few years. This adventure of yours brought back great memories. I was awed by the beauty of the landscape. It all seems very sacred to me when I open my eyes to the beautiful complex world that was created for us all to live in.
Adds such a new dimension and depth to the videos, doesn't it. Yep, I've been super stoked on the drones ever since they came out. And I've used several drones, but this little guy is just a work horse. And for those that aren't aware, check out my Behind the Scenes episode - ua-cam.com/video/prCRrB8f46o/v-deo.html. Thanks for watching and thanks for the kudos!
If the batteries were stored outside, in the cold, yes they would be effected. But being charged and stored inside the heated van, I never had any issues with them
Stunning cinematography, editing and storytelling; not to mention the steel cojones needed to take on the challenge of such a journey alone. Huge kudos to you.
Finally got an opportunity to just sit down, relax, and enjoy this episode. Again blown away by how beautiful everything is and finding myself in aww on how beautiful our planet is. Thanks for taking us on your journey Chad, you’re the best!!!
To call this trip "epic" does not do this adventure justice. Absolutely an incredible accomplishment to not only complete the trip, but to document it as you have and take us along for the wild ride. Would love to know the your thoughts on the things you did to prepare, got right, got wrong and the behind the scenes challenges. Something as simple as drone flight had to have been a struggle operating in that temperature range. Incredible series and looking forward to seeing the rest if it.
Critically important: In temperature like that, start your engine every couple of hours, don't let it seat frozen all day or night, or have engine antifreeze heater system active. Second, do you know what engine oil you use? It's gotta be specific oil for arctic temps to avoid engine damage. Pay special attention to tires, rubber can become brittle, so make sure to keep proper pressure to avoid excessive flexing which may cause some cracking in rubber.
Hear me, you brave man! Coming from cold Norway myself, sitting in a warm living room waiting for warmer times. You have my deepest respect for what you achieve. And as usual, incredibly beautiful shots of nature made me (almost) welcome the winter back.

Chad+ you are a true inspiration to those of us with a pioneer’s heart. Thanks for this effort. It is truly an adventure and a testimony to your preparation of you equipment. You literally put your life on the line to traverse this region.
Your camera work is excellent and the fact that you have to turn around and pick up your cameras for some of the shots that you do must make the trip twice as long. Also your drone work is fantastic I’m surprised they work in below zero temperatures. You definitely have a lot of balls doing this by yourself .mad props!!

I am gonna enjoy this! And welcome Chad. So glad you could explore our far north😀 And can we just acknowledge the editing and the DRONE SHOTS. Really top notch and second to nothing !

Awesome overhead footage, as I would have to say National Geographic worthy. Hope you enjoyed the trip. I've had enough winter adventures for a lifetime having been stationed in Iceland. Again, outstanding!
Chad, Of all the "Van Life You tubers" you exceed them by far. My wife and I have an E-350 Econoline that we camp in and you have certainly influenced our Van life for the better. Thank you for all of the hard work that you put into each video, we are NEVER disappointed in your travels. Travel safe, my friend. Paul & Kim
I love the risks involved with this adventure. The times when I really found myself was during times of immense doubt desperately trying to bottle up the dread boiling over.
Chad, I have much respect for your accomplishments and success on this journey. The beauty of the land and the unforgiving harshness of the climate really make you feel alive! I lived in the Northwest Territories for 10 years. There are many stories of people who were not as prepared us you who have gone in the ditch, broke down, or got lost and have perished. You were prepared and got to live it to the fullest. Thanks for sharing. Part 2 is really showing the intensity of the experience. Greetings from 🇨🇦.
Episode 1 in this series was the first time I discovered this channel. So glad you somehow popped up in my feed. The views, the drone work you do is spectacular.
The drone footage is stunning (as usual). I guess we now know that extreme cold does not prevent drones from flying and capturing footage. Looking forward to Part 3.

Yes the drone shots are wonderful. They give us a spectacular view of that part of the world. And actually informative you know. Kudos mate, quite brave of you. Looking forward to next episode!!
Hey Chad, as a Canadian who’s worked in the far North for years. Here are a few tips. 1. When it gets really cold. I don’t shut my diesel truck off. 2. Layers are your friend. At -40 in a parka you can barely move. 3. Winter front on your van. Keeps the really cold air out so your truck heats up better. 4. This tip saved a guy I work with life. He hit the ditch in a white out blizzard and ran the truck till he was out of fuel. Then he took his spare tire, punched a hole in his gas tank. To use the little bit of fuel that was left to cover the spare. He lit the tire on fire and huddled by it until we found him in the morning. 4. Personally I use 4 wheel drive a lot and I leave it in. Because some times when it’s really cold it would not engage when you really need it. Better to be in 4 wheel drive then to need 4 wheel drive and not be able to get it to engage. 5. If you can help it, never let your fuel get below 1/2 a tank and always use diesel fuel conditioner. 6. Get yourself a good tow rope. It’s not a matter of if you go in the ditch as a matter of when. So when a someone comes along they can pull you out. (Side note I’ve been blown off those roads because your still just on ice) Just found your channel and am enjoying it. Keep it up.
You are really bringing everyone in on this experience..great production, incredible drone shots..wow! I look forward to the next video . Well done and stay safe
I don't remember how I stumbled upon your channel several months ago, but I'm so glad I did. I simply love you and your adventures. Thank you so much for sharing.
Simply incredible….scenery, editing, and that drone footage, this is some of your best work Chad. Is their a temperature at which you would not shut the sprinter van off, I know a few truckers who won’t shut their semis off for days or even weeks at -30 to -40f
I just got to where I would set an alarm during the night every 3-4 hours and remote start the van from bed and idle it for 30-45 minutes to maintain some heat in it.
As a truck driver I know these kinds of roads and driving for hours with no one around can feel eerie and lonely but all good when you get to your destination. Your van is a cool build handling the cold like a champ.
really nice drone shots, i think little one i wanted to add is maybe bit more history on the small towns and cities you stop by - can appreciate its more research needed before the trip great to see the locals in the video (glad the guy agreed to being in this)
I’m appreciative and grateful of being allowed to share this journey with you brother. You may want to try for your tuna fish salad recipe these ingredients: Mayonnaise, sweet relish, honey, diced celery, diced parsley, ground black pepper, ground sea salt, garlic powder, diced red bell peppers, diced onions, and whipped cream cheese.
Man, you have taken the Van Life to levels seldom if ever seen, let alone documented for the rest of us ! I envy you brother but in the best of ways ! Looking forward to part 3 and praying for you all the way 🙏🥃
“EPIC”……no other words to describe this Journey. Soooo Well Done!!!!!!! Couple of questions: Did you keep the van running overnight, or did you have any issues starting it in the morning in those sub sub zero wind chill temps? Did you keep the diesel heater running day and night?…..to keep your batteries warm? Living vicariously thru you on a place I would never see otherwise. Wonder if the Vanagon could make this trip? Part 3 will tell the tale. Looking forward to the continuing Adventure.
Chad, Fan here from Toronto, Canada. Been watching you over the years from the old van to the new sprinter van. I must say the quality of your filming, the editing, the music we can only imagine how long all of this takes. Youre hands down one of the most creative, gutsy and down right badass van life youtuber Ive ever seen. Those areas are no joke to begin with and youre on a fun adventure to explore. Hats off to you sir 🎩 Stay Safe!
So that's how a frontier town looks like in the Yukon. Really captures that frontier spirit in its buildings. Well, I have really no idea since I'm from the tropics and the only "snow" we could get is from the insides of our refrigerator. But there you are, Chad, showing us what it feels to travel from Washington state to the Yukon. Thanks for letting us tag along!
Hey Chad....Great series. Wife and I are planning that trip leaving Minnesota in mid June. You've had some great weather. I've seen some others not quite so lucky. Hope it held. One question, what's the story with the dog sitting by your front tire at the beginning of the video. We figured you were gaining a travel buddy?

(Side note I’ve been blown off those roads because your still just on ice)
Just found your channel and am enjoying it. Keep it up.
Hey, Dale, glad to have you onboard. Thanks for joining the channel. Great tips, man, thanks so much for the input!
You are really bringing everyone in on this experience..great production, incredible drone shots..wow! I look forward to the next video . Well done and stay safe
Love the show. What a great experience. I’d love to do what your doing. All the best.
Those temps are straight up terrifying for me 😂 absolutely epic adventure so far, can’t wait for the next episode
I don't remember how I stumbled upon your channel several months ago, but I'm so glad I did. I simply love you and your adventures. Thank you so much for sharing.
Chad, what an incredible adventure! I am so envious. You have memories that most will only dream of.
Shine on brother.
Amazing adventure, sceneries and music, great job … Can't wait to see the rest
You're doing a great job, inspiring many others to not be materialistic and how to enjoy the real Beauty on this earth. ❤ Thanks for everything
Yes - part 1 was Brilliant.. been looking forward to this !!
Thanks for watching, Neil!
Chad, I keep watching your Arctic episodes repeatedly this whole 2 months!! Awesome and Love your winter living the van life!!!!
Chad, I love this series!! So interesting!
Thanks, Andrew. It truly was an amazing trip-
I don't know how this guy doesn't have millions of subs by now..this was a masterpiece
As a truck driver I know these kinds of roads and driving for hours with no one around can feel eerie and lonely but all good when you get to your destination. Your van is a cool build handling the cold like a champ.
Better than any tv show today. I lose myself in this show. Priceless.
really nice drone shots, i think little one i wanted to add is maybe bit more history on the small towns and cities you stop by - can appreciate its more research needed before the trip
great to see the locals in the video (glad the guy agreed to being in this)
Agree. A little more history of the areas would be interesting.
Did you see that guy's teeth?...are there no dentists in that part of the world?
If my van was built similar to yours, I think I'd really like to caravan a trip like that 😇😉
Wow! New fan here. I really enjoy watching your adventures. How do you get those insane drone shots of you driving down the road? So incredible!
I’m appreciative and grateful of being allowed to share this journey with you brother. You may want to try for your tuna fish salad recipe these ingredients:
Mayonnaise, sweet relish, honey, diced celery, diced parsley, ground black pepper, ground sea salt, garlic powder, diced red bell peppers, diced onions, and whipped cream cheese.
This has got to be one of the most visually pleasing channels on this app
Man, you have taken the Van Life to levels seldom if ever seen, let alone documented for the rest of us ! I envy you brother but in the best of ways ! Looking forward to part 3 and praying for you all the way 🙏🥃
“EPIC”……no other words to describe this Journey. Soooo Well Done!!!!!!!
Couple of questions:
Did you keep the van running overnight, or did you have any issues starting it in the morning in those sub sub zero wind chill temps?
Did you keep the diesel heater running day and night?…..to keep your batteries warm?
Living vicariously thru you on a place I would never see otherwise.
Wonder if the Vanagon could make this trip?
Part 3 will tell the tale. Looking forward to the continuing Adventure.
Did you watch the part of the vid where he shows a start?
Chad, Fan here from Toronto, Canada. Been watching you over the years from the old van to the new sprinter van. I must say the quality of your filming, the editing, the music we can only imagine how long all of this takes. Youre hands down one of the most creative, gutsy and down right badass van life youtuber Ive ever seen. Those areas are no joke to begin with and youre on a fun adventure to explore. Hats off to you sir 🎩 Stay Safe!
I agree 100%! Best channel and creator on you tube
Hey you okay out there? Waiting for more on your Arctic journey ❤️ I absolutely love the guitar tunes your playing.Fabulous
Hey Chad did you ever think about installing studded winter tires on the van for this trip or did the ko2 held up well? 😊
That's probably the first thing I would've changed. A dedicated snow tire would be much better than the KO2, which is in itself, a great tire.
