What really slays me in this version is how when she sings with the backing chord in the chorus (rather than the melody), she hits the minor 7th, which gives the overall chord this tension that's just seeking resolution and gives those little moments in the song such a feeling of yearning. It's such a tiny little detail, but it sounds so good and adds so much to the arrangement. Kimbra is such a brilliant talent and artist.

I come here year after year... I bought your first album Kimbra and I enjoyed it thoroughly, but the recording on there does not compare to this perfect masterpiece you created on that day at this studio. In fact, I have lost touch with your modern music, there was one video in particular that did not grip me, and while I promise to get back into it some day because I think you are amazing, nothing will ever compare to this little piece of music. All 6 songs recorded there were amazing, but this one in particular has captured a piece of my heart. Beginning to end.

This is one of the most perfect songs and performances I’ve ever seen in my life! Truly staggering how much emotion this song invokes!
I saw this video, and the rest of the Sing Sing playlist, when it was at about 2,000 views. And suddenly Kimbra has come such a long way. I'm someone who loves the Golden Echo album ( her most recent ), for its creativity and jazz influence, but this style also suits her so well. I find myself in the Sing Sing studio section from time to time, just reliving the time when i first found Kimbra. This set up suits her voice, her performance skills and everything so well, it's a joy to see. And obviously the band are great too.
Pretty much exactly my own experience and thoughts. Stumbling upon this set when it was first posted to UA-cam was a revelation. I love the way her music has evolved, but these videos are still my favorite performances of her. Looking forward to the third album!

2:22 --The vocal break in this song is POWERFUL. You know Kimbra's good because she is almost always better live and each live performance has its own character and really stands on its own. The album version, Sing Sing version, and billboard version are all amazing but for different reasons! So dynamic.
Recently became a Kimber fan. Video is 10 yrs old: won't blame myself. She does not get much play in USA unfortunately. She was featured on Somebody I Use to Know in 2012. Hope the 2020's is her decade.

If I had the kind of money that finances KUWTK and all that nonsense, I would put it to much better use, by paying Kimbra and Sia to allow me to just watch them sing live. THAT is proper use of riches in my opinion. I would melt if I were in this room watching her record this. On a related note, it is my dream to dance to this song at my wedding.
