yeah, just came across this after fumbling through video of color brush replacement or some selection based processes. for what i was doing, this was perfect.
I'm sure you know by now but in Affinity all adjustment layers already have masks, so all you have to do is paint in black to remove the color spill. The extra mask you made is redundant.
this is the color change method i WAS LOOKING FOR and not where you use the selection tool. Thank you!
