Yes, freshers coming into IITs are socially drained people, but over 4 years, the clubs, fests, and highest independence of any Indian college turn them into creative human beings. I think the main problem with our system is that we perceive certain skills to be 'much better' than others. If we were to randomly ask students which profession they would want to choose for themselves, most of them would choose from engineering, medicine, legal practice, chartered accountancy, civil services, etc. There is nothing wrong with these careers. The problem lies in the fact that students are opting for these professions not because of their genuine interests in these fields, but because they feel that other fields are not even an option. Naturally, if you get into a field in which you are not genuinely interested, and on top of that, if you see that as the only means to improve your life, then mediocrity and frustration is natural. One cannot deliver anything in such a situation, be it an IITian or a non-IITian.

IITs & IIMs are great but students are more into to get huge packages than self learning. They think there is no need to learn something else because of that platform advantage. what we need from IITs is to give innovative ideas or work on a cause rather than doing same jobs like others. Steve jobs said a beautiful line regarding this "I want these students to build for others rather than saying Yes Sir"
@@venkatesh-con Then what is the difference between a student who got the same job as an IITian just by self learning rather than having a platform advantage. Eventually, Brain also behaves like a muscle. Preparing for IIT helps you in working out your brain. I think that helps a lot in the future whether you get into IITs or not. Even UPSC exam, right now focuses a lot on analytical skills, which makes it easier for engineers to crack it. As a 30 year old, my advice is to give your all in JEE preparation, whether you make it or not, it will help you a lot later in life. And if you make it, IITs provide a lot of freedom and infra to students compared to any other college in India. Things about social and emotional skills might be true, but you will learn them quickly once you get out of college and might even get better at it than most people.
What you said is true but do you really think all people are interested in the preperation itself? I mean people have their own interests. Let us consider someone wants to become a sportsman, what the hell will that person do by wasting time in JEE preparation? I think what you said applies only if the student is not so much into aspects which include academics. They say when knowledge becomes a compulsions, the mind does not tend to retain that information. What do you think sir ?

Yes... People think that IIT is something great and IIT graduates are immediately given higher roles in foreign. The reason why IITians are hired in US and other countries is because even after giving extra training to IIT Graduates, companies find an IITian cheaper than the resource of their own country.

I can speak for the education part in Physics dept: Almost every prof is very good in their research area. However, it is not often the case that they are also good at teaching. In fact, majority of students don't wanna attend classes because its often the case that the content is way too rigorous (often the case in physics). Also, due to so many years of experience in their fields, profs assume we know certain things, hence while teaching such rigourous stuff they often skip some imp. concepts. However, excellent profs do exist. These are pure legends and you wouldn't wanna a single class. So, overall its like any generic case (with very less spoon feeding). For the comment that "since research is good we would be taught latest stuff".... Nooooo, this is not necessarily true. A standard curriculum is followed for any course. So, its kinda like monotonous. If you wanna know latest stuff, you have to go out of your way to ask the prof how the things that are taught are related to the latest research.
IITians get good jobs coz the employers are very smart, as they know these kids have slogged their way to reach this level and will continue to slog in their organisation without complaining. Who can relate to this fact..?
This is exactly the reason why the top consulting firms MBB only take the top students from IITs/IIMs because they know that these are exactly the people who'll slog.
There is huge difference between founder and CEO - a founder is only one time for a company (he builds, creates and also runs the company), but a CEO can be multiple times (he runs the company) and can be replaced by another CEO 😅
there have been many people who have never been to IIT or any top universities or colleges. Forget top colleges, some didn't even do graduation but have been guest speakers in IITs and IIMs. So we all have a scope. We all can learn things from the outside of these institutes as well, especially in today's times when internet has revealed everything to us. Main thing is to gather skills because knowledge alone can be ignored but skill is something we use to execute our knowledge in reality and create a tangible outcome. We must also remember Eklavya who never got great teachers, mentors and Gurukul and learned himself and still beat Arjun who had received best of the everything. If Eklavya without any resources can do this, why can't we do with the help of almost all resources?
Eklavya also had to pay the Biggest price after getting knowledge in that manner!!And after that he was merely around Arjun or Karna.. Hope we won't have to suffer like him.

Main problem of iit is we are not producing any real engineer . In mechanical electrical and manufacturing i sector we are lagging .All are behind package.( even students of coaching institute have same mentality). I am also preparing for jee adv( not to study engineering but I love science. studying jee syllabus helps in understanding science better) I started preparation from class 9 th , but from end of 10 th I realized that i have be completely developed from all aspects not just fast problem solving skill( most of which will not be needed in future). So i am starting to become more social , working on my hobby of chess and also preparing for foreign universities to study my favourite subject(not engineering)
As an IITian myself, I've developed some of the most important social and emotional skills during those 4 years on campus. Some of my friends are national level sportsmen & professional musicians. The video is an oversimplified and generic take based on random surveys. I don't think it represents the legacy of the last 70 odd years of IITs' existence.
Brother can you guide that how to prepare for JEE I think I need to practice a lot in Organic Chemistry so can you recommend some books which is easy to understand and contains IIT JEE level question
How tf are IITians managing to be national level sportsmen?? I can accept that a couple of super-productive students exist that comply with this, but being a national level sportsmen and cracking JEE as well 100% guarantees that the person did all this while sacrificing his/her social life at the mere age of 14-18. We all need to have our fun and build personalities at this time, not become factory workers and studying things in deep for these 2-3 years that for those interested in taking up fields like Computer Science aren't even relevant. This makes me just come to the basic point- The competition for CSE and Data analytics and fields like this should involve skills based on the particular field. CSE should have coding entrance exams, and Automobile Engineering should have Mechanical Physics/other things related. All of this should be decided by students aged 15, and they should be taught for two years on the field chosen. Then they should take a break (drop) of an year for preparation for their entrance examination. Then, at 19-20 they can enter their wanted colleges.
My mantra is you keep working hard throughout the life, keep learning new things, Keep building professional network. That will guarantee a better success rather than work extremely hard to get in to iit and later get complacent in life. The day when we stop working on ourselves is the end of our journey in life.
Man, you are humble, that's captivating. Saying best or worst are the two extremities of the same pendulum, we gotta stay in the mean position. One shouldn't let his rage of not getting into IIT turn into aversion, because aversion is a destructive form of attraction itself(we crave what we don't have). And at the same time not getting overtly attached to the idea of getting into it.
As an IITIAN I think I am qualified to share my geniune experience. Currently I am pursuing masters from IIT Jodhpur which is 2nd generation IITs and have less facility than old iits. But I will have to disagree what you said about sports. IIT spends ample amount of money promoting sports and have carzy big sports complex. Also the point about mental health, we have student counsellor available in health care centre 24*7. It helps a lot of student who suffers from mental depressing. So, I think IITs really worth it.
As you are pursuing Master's, I am quite sure you liked the subject enough to go for higher studies. A lot of students don't have an interest in the subjects they start pursuing the problem lies there. There's no denial that IITs are some of the best in the world, but it is not that they are the only option out there.
@@ShubhamRaj-mu8ol absolutely right. The time you spend to prepare for iit, it's really worth it. That's all I am saying. That doesn't mean there is no other option.

I am a founder and have hired 2 IITs n till now. One of them was okay I would say like acceptable & timely work was delivered throughout their tenure while the other had absolutely no idea about what he was doing. We had to even spend more on his training than we had to for someone our basic college graduates. But I do know IIT kids as well who are excellent ideators and have immense potential. Actually being a part of their ecell groups I have realised that these kids are no different but just have a higher will to do things hence they end up clearing difficult exams but that does not add to your skills. They are just proof of your dedication. So don't make IIT the goal. IIT is just a step to your success. You still need to continue to be opportunistic and always try to gain and advance in your core skills to actually make it. Remember learning is always from the cradle to the grave and your dedication to learning and growth should never stop, even if you have cleared IIT.
All graduates give 100% productivity for you sir.....I doubt....education is different working knowledge is different....one who can't even calculate small addition can give more productivity....situations , interest, mindset....lot of possibilities so plz don't just judge simply by recruiting two iitians
I agree on that part with social and emotional skills but you can't blame diversity. There should only be skilled faculties which is important for a strong foundation and better future of India. It's sad that there are only 9% of sc/st/obc faculties capable to compete with general faculties. If they can't secure a position at IITs even after lot of support in terms of reservation then it's their fault not the fault of IITs.
LOL....SC,ST ,OBC selection unike hathome hota hai.....Jan bujh kar selection karne nahi dete.....Ask any IIT insider....Govt. selection nahi karta....senior professor karte hai...Govt.sirf vacancy nikalte hai
Then same logic can be applied for poor ranking of IITs compared to international Universities - because if IITs have such skilled faculties, government funding and such extraordinary students than it is IIT's fault that it cannot come in top 500 universities in the world.
The reason for lack of high level faculty from OBC/SC/ST communities is because a lot of their journeys start at very low levels. Reservation is not a quick fix to reverse the centuries of caste oppression. It was intended to work over generations. Starting at the lowest level Each generation getting better than the previous. The upper caste castes individuals had the resources and connections to start off very well. So they could easily rise to the quality required of a professor. Most of the faculty all over the country are from that generation. The real benefits of reservation were reaped by the new generations. The real fruits of reservation are going to be visible when the millennial and gen z complete their degrees and acquire the experience and merit required of a professor. So please don't say "they" are not talented enough despite reservation or it's "their" fault. "They" had a really rough start.

Bruh that is an extreme schedule tho I had a somewhat similar schedule too. When I was in 11th-12th as a science student I was studying in this coaching class. Now at the time I didn't knew what was that coaching institution for just that their initial lectures were good, surrounding around basics so I liked the teaching staff there & so I opted for the class. Until I realized that they were taking too much time of my day. My college was from 7:20AM-12:00PM even then I had practicals 3 days a week so my college then would be finished around 1:00 PM. I had class right afterwards at 2:30PM & I was coming home at around 6-6:30PM. I actually didn't wanted to prepare for entrances at all tbh but I didn't knew they were going to include the entrances fees in my total too. Now since I paid for it I had to attend those JEE/NEET lectures. Even then we had some extreme topper students who'd attend both JEE/NEET lectures. I opted for NEET as my maths wasn't that good, but turns out I lack the whole base for physics & chemistry from academic times (8th onwards) itself. Then in the end I didn't applied for neet I ended up applying to MH-CET (state level entrance). Back then I felt giving those exams was useless until now when I look back, I atleast saw how they conduct exams, how they ask questions etc. Most people around me were serious so I was under pressure but even then some strong souls were there, giving these entrances just to experience" I think that is indeed important. Tbh I took science due to my parent's pressure, even now i was pressured to continue science & now I'm stuck in Bsc but I did realize one thing- your mental peace is important. Whether you're an arts student or commerce, pick a stream you like, work on your skills there & better learn how handle your failures. I wasn't used to the schedule mentioned above so I scored 57% in my 12th boards. I was honestly very disappointed & felt useless (still do sometimes) until now when I'm doing my degree. I honestly don't have any perticular interests in this field but tbh I'm glad I can atleast study in peace & not under pressure

The engineers can start with 5000 or 7000 but belive me once you gain experience even for 2-3 years in a domain which has demand in industry you still can beat IIT grads. I have been through depression during my college days may be I was not confident enough, I dint had friends , no one was talking with me in the college I really don't know the reason but when I passed out I learned so many things with built my personality and I was able improve on my weakness. Today after 8 years working experience I am really doing so well in my life. Not only in terms of salary but also a good profile which I always admire of. College teach us lot how to maintain a sustainable growth in life. The more challenges you face easier the life is in future.
@@atharvakhandelwal I am really sorry to hear this Atharva, but remember nothing is permanent. The first year is always challenging for students .The most important thing is realization that something is not well in life. List out the things which makes you feel low. You cannot change others so just work on the points which you can improve your weakness.
I usually love ur content but there are three points I would like to share 1) Being a non iitian I have felt the difference in teaching , placements and even research , where IIT gives a purpose to engineering , tier 3 colleges only provide degrees based on mugging up books . 📚 2) faculty being a general or sc ,st ,obc shall not be a problem , as this is not politics . We must accept a teacher as a person who is imparting us knowledge and no gender or religion or caste shall be a topic of discussion . Every teacher appointed there goes through the same process of appointment . 3) also gender diversity resulted due to 2 reasons , first female students prefer other streams or courses than engineering. And the other that may raise a debate , their inability to compete in the exam . Nowadays India is witnessing lots of female engineering students too. But still ratio remains less in iits and bits due to the fact that major females fail to qualify jee . But if a girl does qualify she gets same respect in college and society as a male candidate without discrimination. Even they are preferred in placements, due to diversity hiring . And no doubt IIT has always been the best !
Sahi bola aur kuch tier 3 colleges toh fake placements bhi kara dete company ko paise deke fir company internship karwa ke out kar deti yeh bol ke ki aapka kaam acha nahi laga but reality mein usse lena hi nahi tha ussne college walo se paise khakar aapse yeh sab kiya
Good video. I just realized how impactful Rancho's character was in 3 idiots because sure, he is a hard-working guy who is really smart but also knows how do make friends and do social stuff and is very wise, but not only that, on top of that, the thing that I find more interesting about him is that he makes other people become more like him in that way instead of becoming like them even though it would probably have been a lot easier for him to have just become like everyone else to adjust and fit in with em.
Mohak, one key aspect that you missed, in my opinion, is the ability of top IIT'ians to manage their workload. This top IIT-ian percentage could be a lot, so I am not trying to weed out any large percentage of the students. The time from when JEE prep starts and till they graduate from IIT, the most important quality they pick up is how to manage a large workload of study. This is a key factor in IIT-ians being preferred more, they are productive from Day 1 at their jobs, whereas others might spend a few months to a year to learn how to work (which is not bad in any way, learning to work is an important skill and it can take a lot of time and jobs to learn effectively). For students watching this video and curious about my comment, getting good enough grades across most of your subjects in any school and college is a good sign of your productivity and efficiency, it usually shows up as graduation credentials in your resume, but go an extra step and highlight this as a skill on your resume.

Is there scope in other fields in india is there a market for that, answer is no what should one do then, india is a poor country, people don't have money here.

I can speak for the education part in Physics dept:
Almost every prof is very good in their research area.
Apart from job , education. I believe IIT alumni network is best! And the stuggle to join IIT is worth it .

Exactly broo !!! They know that these kids have learnt how to work and put in efforts since this early age !
Correction at 12:13 - you said 'Google ke founder IIT se hai' , but correct statement is 'Google ka current CEO IIT se hai'.

@@ShreshthSharma99 but brother the main takeaway is that he got so skilled even after having no resources at all. Main problem of iit is we are not producing any real engineer . In mechanical electrical and manufacturing i sector we are lagging .All are behind package.( even students of coaching institute have same mentality).
I am also preparing for jee adv( not to study engineering but I love science. studying jee syllabus helps in understanding science better)
I started preparation from class 9 th , but from end of 10 th I realized that i have be completely developed from all aspects not just fast problem solving skill( most of which will not be needed in future). So i am starting to become more social , working on my hobby of chess and also preparing for foreign universities to study my favourite subject(not engineering)

@@bond69690 no way bro . I am from too middleclass family .
Brother can you guide that how to prepare for JEE
I think I need to practice a lot in Organic Chemistry so can you recommend some books which is easy to understand and contains IIT JEE level question
IITian detected opinion rejected !!
Though not IITian I got in IIM. In general IITians do have better interpersonal skills.
Are bhaiya tumhre muscian nova jaisa hai toh rehne do 😂😂😂 iit ke tag se ki hui cheez plzz don't give eg.
And at the same time not getting overtly attached to the idea of getting into it.
his facts are still incorrect
The main reason for the drop in quality of IITs is the RESERVATION ASCENT
True But no one supports you.
Can I know what tf "M21PH015" means?
(just curious no offence)
As you are pursuing Master's, I am quite sure you liked the subject enough to go for higher studies. A lot of students don't have an interest in the subjects they start pursuing the problem lies there. There's no denial that IITs are some of the best in the world, but it is not that they are the only option out there.
@@hindustanimapper 🤣. Actually it's my institute email id where they also pin roll number with email for convenience

Bhai bohot sahi point Bola hai tune
@@abhijitsethi600 There's no reason to discriminate if someone is skilled enough. Whether it is IIT or some private company, they want best candidates. Imagine yourself as HR, would you hire someone with 100 rank or 10000 rank for your company?

I don't think people who prepare for IIT only have that in mind. They also look for opportunities outside and that's the good thing about all this.

@@hunsdicker I left that institute in class 9th only, I couldn't handle that shit

I usually love ur content but there are three points I would like to share
1) Being a non iitian I have felt the difference in teaching , placements and even research , where IIT gives a purpose to engineering , tier 3 colleges only provide degrees based on mugging up books . 📚
2) faculty being a general or sc ,st ,obc shall not be a problem , as this is not politics .
💯💯💯💯💯
