    Dear Brompton Headquarters: If it were not for Brian's channel and several others, I wouldn't have purchased our two M6L's Bromptons
    in 2021. I just recently purchased two T-lines because of my love for everything they provide on a daily basis. Two new M6L's in 2021
    and two T-lines a few months ago, hmmm let me see.....do the math! To deny Brian one to three hundred dollars after all that he's
    represented to your company just isn't fair. Memo: PR department, reconvene Monday morning.

    The old excuse of not registering it, they already have it registered in the shop.
    Another loophole to save them some cash.
    And stress excuses that don't make much difference in stresses at all.
    Hold your hands up and admit a joint wasnt as strong as it should be and put it right.
    I wonder how many Bromptons have been sold due to this youtube site.
    I was wanting one myself, but I think I'll give it a miss now , due to after sales treatment here.
    Shockingly disgraceful

    I only ride 20" folding bikes and broke frames at the seat post and also at the steering stem because I have heavy loads on it. When it happened to quite a new frame I looked around for somebody to weld it. It was that expensive that I bought myself a gassless weldingmachine. They are quit cheap and if you practice a bit you can do it too. And if it works again you feel like you are on top of the mountain because you fixed it yourself, as I do with everything on my bike(s). I also build my own strong wheels with 36 12G spokes at my rear wheel, so I can transport anything I want. And if I would ever buy a Brompton it would be secondhand, black, with broken wheels. Black is an easy color to paint broken spots for instance or to add other spare parts which you can spray black.
    And by the way you feel helpless, as I can understand, because you cannot do anything about it. But with a welding machine you can 😊 I even reinforced my frame at the seatpost where it broke, so it will never brake again. Hope this will help you 😊

    I'm interested in buying a Brompton T-LIne. I went to the Brompton Junction store here in NYC and asked about their warranty. I was told that I could not change a thing, not the seat, not a light, nothing, or I would void the warranty. The repair shop was empty and no work was being done. I got the overt impression that the Brompton Junction stores are retail only. They sell product. Once you buy it, it's yours. They will not fix anything unless you pay for it. Leaves a sour note in my mouth. I've heard of other Brompton owners who've had the same experience. Btw, have you checked out the Burke 20? It's been around for a while. It's full titanium. There's not much info about them but they look promising? I suppose that the devil is in the details and it's all about the fold... oh, and at 14:40, you ARE special !!! Don't buy a T-Line - riddled with recalls and mfg issues. I had one, rode it for a month, hated it and sold it. I now ride a custom P-line - I'm sure it isn't covered by warranty but that is OK with me.

      @@davidhunternyc1 I am the Chuck at Freedom Folding Bikes and have been a Brompton dealer for 15 years. Trust me on this one. If you want a bike that creaks and groans under hard pedaling then be my guest but so far I have not seen a T-Line bike come through my shop - and I've seen/sold a good number of them - that doesn't creak and groan. I was ready to throw mine in the creek after a month. As an engineer by training I have an educated guess as to why this happens. I won't get into it here but if I'm right it isn't something that can be fixed long term. The fix Brompton recommends is more grease and the flex points, which lends credence to my theory of why it happens to begin with. For me the fix is to stick with the P-line. It's light enough. I converted mine to a 5-speed so I get a better climbing gear (I have a 54T front chainring) and a better shifter. The stock 4-speed shifter never felt precise or fast. The new 5-speed shifter I installed is both.

      @@52blackshadow folds very neatly. The biggest attraction is the network of people. Which is why this doesn’t make any sense. The rear frame actual cost to brompton is a fraction of the customer cost. Brompton is nothing without its customers who are there salesman. No one saw a paid advert on gcn or ig or other UA-camrs and thought I must buy one. Usually it’s a friend or friend friend that expose the brompton experience or culture. So it makes sense for them to maintain that more than anything with good will because some clones are just as good or better but they have no established network.

    Brian - I have a brompton SL6, modded with genuine labour and parts to a M bar with new stem to boot with all the cabbling with the 5 year frame warranty from 2021. I am very disappointed to hear of this and the only guarantee they are offering is simply to disappoint. You have used you bike as you should without misuse and I feel they have just made a reason to not honour their 5 year scheme it appears.
    I think after watching this I will switch to another brand who will uphold a genuine warranty without hassle.
    Please do complain and appeal. I feel very strongly about this and may even write to Brompton as I am very disappointed at their response. You are essentially growing the brand with your videos and work so that should be respected and in my book you are still in warranty as long as you have the original receipt. Perhaps, register it as you are still within warranty and claim under warranty again!
    Honestly bro - I am not happy! Ride well and be safe! 🚲

    Greetings from the Russian cyclist! Thank you for making such a video! On the one hand, it is very strange that such a well-known and rich company as Brompton refused to guarantee you, on the other hand, this is capitalism! Do you understand? Some little-known Chinese company may send you something for free if you bought something from them and it broke, but any large company will send you away! Unfortunately, that's how it works and yours (for example) Samsung smartphone dies the day after the end of the warranty. And the company will say, "oh dude, we're really sorry, sorry, but there's nothing we can do to help you." In any case, I wish you good luck!

    Anyone buying foldy bikes for the first time, watch out for fakes, do research. There is A LOT of them, (especially Strida bikes). Otherwise forget about warranties. You won't even be able to sue the company, if something serious happens, say, frame splits in two, while riding.

    Yeah I can understand why they didn't approve it also. Touring on a Brompton is WAY beyond any use that a Brompton is meant for. They are OUTSTANDING in multi mode travel/commute and nothing even comes close. The only thing that does a better job is living closer to work so you can ride a bike the entire way.
    That being said, a trailer is part of the weight the bike can handle? That really doesn't make much sense, and that was just what Brompton really needed to deny the claim... along with the warranty not being registered. If you went by the "use" policy of any bike, it would never be used.

  • @nickbernstein
    @nickbernstein 3 місяці тому +1

    Bro, read between the lines. It's not covered under warranty but they *suggest you apply for the affiliate program which would put you in touch with marketing* -- you know, the group who could green light non-warranty repairs for, say, a UA-cam who helps the brand.

  • @torinsall
    @torinsall 4 місяці тому +2

    From one perspective, if they say frame coverage is 2yrs unregistered or 7yrs registered and then cover your unregistered bike past 2yrs, then by rights they would be expected to cover every else's unregistered bike frame. I expect companies to treat you the same way they would treat me, regardless of whether or not either of us has a yt channel.
    So...when you get a new bike, register it on the Brompton site.
    Which is what I will do when I save up for their 12spd electric. 😉 Which we cannot afford now. Which brings up a question on a bike we might be able to afford...do you have any thoughts on the zizzo eforte? 🙄

Here in Singapore there was a case where the carbon fork got hit by a stone from a passing car and the hmm…and ahhh…but this and that…not sure if it’s covered under warranty etc and finally replaced it foc… there were no scratches on the carbon fork just a hit from a stone/pebble/granite chip.

    As a Dane, who has changed most parts on my 2019 Superlight to titanium, I hardly expect to be able to make a Complaint if anything brakes! I did take the first, Free Service after the buy (paid for by the buy), and got my crank changed to titanium with ceramic balls during that. And since then I have changed most loose parts, seat post, handlebar, discs, all bolts and nuts, axle in front, to titanium and carbon, so it is weighing below 9 kilo and still with mudguards, as a "Rainy Dane"! Honestly, as an old bike-builder I hardly expect anything to break, as most looks very solid and well made, and I hardly give it any challenges when riding, and not that much use anyway (The solderings on its frame looks near perfect!)! It is hard to ride on the small wheels and its Prime use is Transport as folded! Finn. Denmark

      I don't get all the Brompton love. The warranty doesn't cover what? Are they denying Brian warranty coverage because he didn't fill out a form, which I question the legality of, or how he road this bike? Perhaps both? I am old. All we had "back-in-the-day" were steel frame bikes. I beat the shit out of mine and never had a frame failure. Brian's Brompton is also a steel frame bike. It is a road bike. Regardless of "road conditions" or how it is being ridden on said road, it should stand up. It's not like he is mountain biking with it and doing huge drops lol. I can understand things like bent rims, etc. But frame failure? That's not good. All the bikes I have owned in the past three decades have had aluminum frames. I have damaged those. A steel frame bike? Never. I read Brompton's response to Brian's inquiry. It seems to me that they would have not his fixed bike even if it had fallen into the so-called warranty period. Basically, Brian is not getting warranty coverage because he has featured the Brompton on this site. People have purchased Bromptons due to Brian's posts. If I were him, I would not show or talk about any of Brompton's products again.
