The PS5 pro will sell out due to limited availability and people will go crazy trying to get one, but I hope Nintendo really steps it up with the Switch 2. They can steal the spotlight easily right now..

I got my PS4 Pro for $400 AUD and now I will have to get the PS5 Pro + Disc Drive for $1360 AUD (No, I am not buying it) that is over TRIPLE the price!

Its literally a cash grab thats it.
It's almost on par with the 7800XT GPU but, the near 6 year old Ryzen 3700X is to slow to get much of the benefit, it's a hard CPU bottleneck system out of the box.
Few games on PC with that CPU is already at CPU limit. GTA VI, well, probably will have lots of NPCs, they all need decent AI, then physics then some rendering related CPU tasks, many other things... the game can be easily CPU limited on PS5 and PS5 Pro. And they might need to cap it to 30 fps or 40 with VRR.

They were probably going to show off Concord maybe even at 4k PSSR/120fps. But at the time of the PS5 Pro conference, I think Concord's shut down was already announced. So they can't show off a dead game.
It's not an impressive machine at all, there is nothing wrong by calling a crap product a crap product. What annoys me even more is that so many so called experts (this includes Richard, Destin etc) talk about price development. Like the only price development is to go up. But when those same economic laws dictate prices should drop, we never see that difference back as customers (this doesn't only apply to gaming). Which is a different discussion if something is over priced or not. And there has been a lot of developments in gamin why prices should drop like global labor has been dirt cheap for years, huge savings by going digital, companies hardly paying any taxes, secret tax ruling's, ISDS courts, huge subsides/grands, years of industry access to dirt cheap (investment) capital etc etc.
But everybody tows the line that development is (to) expensive, without really knowing what the actual production cost are, and everybody picks out one part of development that is indeed expensive like animation. And use use as if there is nothing else. Never taking into account economical events and developments according to the same economical laws that should lead to prices to drop. The same applies to everybody always talking about and pretending "macro economics (big multi & transnational corps, big institutions & governments, big capital) is the entire "economy" and the only thing that matters. While they keep ignoring "micro economics" (small & midsize businesses, labor & people etc). It's really shocking how since 2000, the economy and economic developments are so extreme narrow minded interpreted.

So when GTA6 comes out you’re looking at $869.99 at minimum to play one game.
I really hope they reveal Uncharted 5 during The Game Awards. It's the perfect showcase title for the PS5 Pro, since it's a singleplayer action game that is very linear - so Naughty Dog could really show the muscles of the Pro. In general I really, really hope they change course and cut funding for live service after the Concord desaster and focus again on what Sony is the best at it - epic singleplayer experiences.

People have already excepted high prices for less hardware with the switch and NVIDIA GPU'S and that's oke because of the quality you usualy get what you pay for.

They don't have that much potential anymore. It's 4 years into the generation, and they are pretty much just PCs. Base PS5 is comparable a self build $600 PC.

someone said it was so short because they were planing to showcase Concord. idk about that but the things that guys was saying are good reasons to get the PS5 Pro felt way off. like why was he focusing on the background crowd resolution... like what? then some of the side by side comparisons din't look any different, you have to really look hard to spot the difference. and even the frame rate comparisons were very sus.

People buy RTX 4090's for $1600 which is 100% more money than a 4070ti Super to get 40% higher FPS than an RTX 4070 ti Super. They can justify that. Why can't you justify spending 40% more money get to 45-100% more FPS pn PS5 Pro? This makes no sense.

@@D4C_LoveTrain1 It's double RT performance, though. In raster it should be equal to an RX 7700xt, and in RT like a 7800xt. That means 100% more RT performance. Previous games where RT was on at 30 FPS should be doable at 60 now. You can look up and compare RX 7800xt to RX 6700 RT performance, and it's about 100% or double.

Ignorance is real. By 2025 when RTX 5000 drops you will laugh about this PS5 pro nonsense. Even cheap cards like 5060 will most likely match or outperform 4070... Which is already more powerful then PS5 Pro. Why they charge 800 Euros for this outdated technology is beyond my understanding. Its not even out yet, and its already outdated.

Sony's new plastic toy is made specifically for influencers like DF who obsess over minute details like a pixelated grass 50m in the background and want it to look better graphically.
To the average user(and by that I mean 99.9999999% users), all that graphical improvement in the background is invisible to the naked eye unless you are pausing the game and zooming 100x into the background.
Even if it is a visible improvement(which it's not), even then I don't think anyone actually cares about it tbh. I have never heard anyone go " I paused Witcher 3/Elden Ring and found a pixelated grass in the background. How dare they 1/10 game. Won't recommend" or something like "They improved the graphics of the grass in Concord & Forspoken. This game is 10/10 game of the decade"

It's crazy how they used graphics & fidelity as a talking point in their presentation to justify spending 700-800 bucks. Just so you can get slightly better graphics in the backgrounds. As if it's such a quantum leap in the technology that would change the gaming landscape & user experience forever lol.
I like DF, they do good work... but it's made online idiots believe they are experts. I've seen gamers say a game sucks cause it uses Screen Space Reflections lol I've seen gamers brag that the "other guys" version of a game can sometimes dip to a lower resolution lol I've seen gamers also brag that "their version" of a game only dip by 5 fps and not 8 like the other guys "lol your box sucks"

It would be easier to judge what Sony is up to if we knew what the production numbers were. If they're not making many, they're just catering to the graphics snob niche. If they're cranking them out in huge numbers, they're trying to rip people off.

I'm from Europe I tried to build this PC and it ended up being $638 before tax. (Yes, we have some sales now) So I threw in an Xbox Controller, basic keyboard, mouse and Windows license and it's still 40 bucks cheaper than the PS5 Pro price in Europe!!!
*The PS5 Pro has the same processor as the regular PS5. In real tests, it is similar to the Ryzen 5 3600. The Ryzen 5 5500 has the same performance, but is a generation younger. Yes it's very slow by today's standards, but so is the PS5 Pro. Of course we can use a better processor, but so can the PS5 Pro. But it didn't. But they still charge $700! Shameless!
The ps5 pro is equivalent to a 4070 all that shit u just wrote doesn't apply. Oh and BTW since u think u know ur shit pull up horizon forbidden west on that pc and run it on the specs it was intended. I guarantee u it runs like garbage
@@philbosh03 yup... the Pro's GPU equivalent is closer to 4070 when it comes to feature set - no AMD currently on market has such RT perf, bespoke ML chip for upscaling (PSSR) + it has 13.7 GB VRAM available for games (4070 has 12GB in total, which means like 11GB is available for games since Windows + apps eat VRAM too).
PC would cost about 1200 (without VAT)
But it's impossible to make a valuevalue comparison because PC can do much more than just gaming, so the value is higher in that regard.
Also just by looking at the speed of RAM selected - 16GB DDR4 3200Mhz is slower and less than available RAM for games on PS5

@@philbosh03 According to the Techpowerup GPU Database and other reviewers, the 4070 is on average 60% better than the regular PS5. In some games it is up to 100% more. The PS5 Pro is UP TO 45% better than the regular PS5. Not on average. Which means the average would be even lower. The RX 6800 is ON AVERAGE 44% better.

Something I don't think is factored into the cost of 'console gaming' vs 'pc gaming' is that, in a perfect world, both Playstation and Xbox would have exclusives that are selling the console to you. I purchased both a PS5 and an Xbox Series X (more the fool me). The idea being, I want to be able to have the option to play ANYTHING.
Thing is, both consoles exclusives just end up on PC now anyway.
For me, a switch to PC gaming isn't comparing the PC to the cost one one console, it's comparing to the cost of TWO consoles.
As a PC player it bothers me that console still doesn't have replaceable parts. Buying a console is like buying a laptop, you'll have to replace the entire thing to upgrade.
He definitely jumped the gun with the criticism, sure its expensive, but one does not have to buy it. Luke is definitely buying it.
I'm not too fussed about a lack of PS exclusive games right now. There's enough multiplatform to keep me entertained across PS and PC. It's more that the general behavior and anti consumer practices of Sony over the last few year has started to turn me off the brand. Thinking I'll commit fully to PC next time. I'm not really about spending £800 on a console. That's money better put toward a good PC, a nice desk and set up. Internationally, wages haven't increased at the same rate as inflation, most goods and services have increased in price well beyond that, so what Sony are playing at I have no idea. I'd love to say they were giving the cash to people on the ground, but no, it's 100 mil on Concord and the like instead. They want to be the next Epic + Fortnite, but those times have passed now I think, at least, we're in their twilight. People are looking for something different at the moment.

See the PS5 is not in a crazy drought as some may perceive. Helldivers 2, Astro Bot, Rise of Ronin, Silent Hill 2, Stellar Blade.
Plus Wukung is still a no show on Xbox along with some others. I think since we had such a crazy 2023 that now things calmed down this year it is seen as this terrible drought. I’m still trying to finish that 2023 backlog phew.
I think the better point is…even if they showed every single heavy hitter on the pro…like if the lineup for the fall was a new GOW, TLOU, Killzone, Resistance comes back..just a crazy lineup. The PS5 Pro will still not be worth it because you can just get a PS5 for almost half the price for just a tiny hit to performance.

If you've played on PC the difference between mid/high settings and Ultra is huge depending on your rig offcourse. And PS5 pro will deliver Ultra settings almost accross the board.

@@s3rv3r3rror8High to ultra on PC is minimal at best sometimes even unnoticeable visually but more taxing... Medium to high is noticeable. I have a 4090 and still play every game on high because ultra is just not worth it.
@@Jet-ij9zc Let me educate you you liar. The CPU on the PS5 pro is 10% faster, on CPU bound games it wil not make a lot of difference in framerate. But the GPU alone is 67% "bigger" with dedicated machine learning cores for a.i. upscalling. The base performance will go up by at least 45% and that is without PSSR. 90% of games will be GPU bound and for that other 10% devs need to make concessions or extremely optimze their games to run at 60fps but Ultra settings is a given!!
In the PC space we would kill for those gains for just 200$ extra. Digital foundry has a unit and their benchmarks sugest the pro has a GPU the equivalent of a 4070 (been saying that for the longest) that is a 550$ or in europe 800€ GPU. Now unless you're telling me a 4070 can't play games on ultra settings where did i shill you clown!
They dont have true exclusives to sell consoles anymore, Might as well build up a slightly more expensive PC or even a PC that is lower spec for the same price and have a multi purpose machine than a closed off box that is only meant for games with a subscription to play online. Plus sometimes using it to watch UA-cam or Netflix

I think the best game to showcase PS5 pro should have been Cyberpunk 2077. Nvidia used that game to showcase their RTX4000 series new Ray Tracing and frame generation which is totally on different level how that game runs in PS5.
PS5 pro doesn't have the same level of Ray tracing that is there in 4000 series card and also they didn't confirm if PS5 pro will come with some Frame Generation capabilities that can run game in 120FPS.
I have a PC connected to my living room TV that behaves just like a console. I can turn it on with my XBox controller and it auto-logins to Windows. To start games, it just uses Playnite in console mode, which can also install them.
The biggest failure too is no mention of if GTA6 is gonna be enhanced on it. That is honestly the only real selling point of the console at this point. Why would anyone buy it until it is confirmed that GTA6 is gonna be enhanced on it as well as in what way it's gonna be enhanced, lol.
Why get a ps5 pro when the power of ps5 has hardly even been used yet. demon souls is really the only game.

The next Sony showcase will be very very interesting. Sony has to reveal something massive, they just have to. As of now we don't know what new first party games the PS5 Pro is for. We don't know if there even are any. They showed of old PS4 and PS5 titles, but they can't seriously expect these to be the selling point. So I'm asking myself will a Last of Us 2 Remake be the big selling point? Will it be their next live service game Fairgame. If these are the only types of games we will presumably be seeing at the end of the month from Sony, that would be pathetic. They better deliver something that is actually meaningful. Ghost of Tsushima 2 or something of that caliber.

The last of us part 2 on base ps5 can be ran unlocked 9n fidelity mode with vrr and usually let's about 50 fps, so the pro going to 60 fps in that title dosent mean that other games will do the same
The 2 big problems with this are 1. The console will be outdated in 2 years because games will continue to get more powerful and 2. Games also determine the frame rate and fadelity. Remember the callisto protocol? The game could easily run at 60, but at launch, it wasnt finished and so the higher frame rate for the pro really doesnt do much because the game wasn't optimized to be able to hit those numbers, except on older games. And again, once newer games come out, the system will be back down to 30-60 anyways. But as someone whos going to buy a ps5 next week, i will NOT spend the extra money on this, rather get a used discless for the 420 mark.
The console is already outdated. The cpu in it is a mid range cpu from 6 years ago
It comes out as outdated. All consoles are outdated on release. PS5 Pro might be held back by its CPU. CPU bottleneck in some games will be a real issue.

The PS5 Pro is for fidelity gamers that dont want a PC. The original PS5 had the raytracing pf the 2050 and the Pro is equivalent to the 4070 Super

Ps5 pro super awesome but cpu bottleneck is inevitable. I prefer slightly faster cpu n slightly faster gpu over base ps5. More balanced
You do know most games are gpu based not cpu
Only very few games are CPU limited, and even then a better GPU means higher resolutions and more detail at the same framerate

On 4K gaming the cpu isn’t that important anymore. For me the problem is that not all games will be supported. Like you have with PC. Plus the jump in power not that big. Just buy a PC at this point. So at least every game runs at max capacity of your system

Doesn't matter how powerful it is if they don't bother making next gen games. Instead of photorealism, they should be pushing boundaries for new experiences. The dual sense is a game changer when combined with graphics and gameplay, but sadly , theres only 2 games that make good use of it. Sony's direction sux this generation. Returnal and astro is the best they've got.
It has three strips on the side, THREE, of course is more powerful, by x3 at least.
The lack of disc drive is a valid complaint and I totally agree, it should have been $700 with the drive or $650 digital, but people like to throw in the lack of stand as well, and that's baffling to me because the stand is only to keep the PS5 vertically. Most people don't keep their PS5 like that since its really tall for a living room setup. The original PS5 came with a stand because we need that stand even to use on the horizontal position. With the redesign slim, they have those little plastic feet, eliminating the need for a stand for the horizontal position, which probably what the pro will have as well based on the promotion material saying "vertical stand sold separately", emphasis on vertical.
The limitation for Linus’ video was mainly down to displays, ports, and cables not supporting 8K at the time… Any game that’s low enough in quality can hit 8K. I don’t even think HDMI 2.1 (which came with 8K support) was out. Not saying it’s still not a crazy thing, but a mediocre graphics game that doesn’t push a lot of geometry isn’t unreasonable at 8K today.
If you factor in inflation, the price of the PS5 Pro is nothing compared to the Neo Geo. So, I guess there's that. Lol

I’m getting the pro on day one if possible and I’m looking forward to play more games with fidelity type graphics in 60 fps. I know not all games will get to 60 fps, but then there will be other enhancements. Also I don’t have time to play games all the time, so there’s actually plenty of those “old” enhanced games I haven’t had time to play yet, so I’ll have lots of enhanced games to choose from until the new releases arrive.
It’ll take a really disappointing Digital Foundry review to change my mind and so far they seem pretty positive.
About the extra 100$ or so more than expected it’ll cost, that’s pretty much the same as it cost to take a family to the cinema here and getting popcorns, so it really doesn’t make much difference to me. Plus I think that if Microsoft couldn’t price their 2TB Xbox cheaper than 600$ then Sony probably couldn’t set their PS5 pro at the same price without loosing a lot of money.

eh, they mentioned a few, 3070, 4060, 6800 and 7700 but down clocked was the full list iirc.
the problem is that they were trying to match an equivalent GPU with the software package.
7700 but downclocked gives you the closest software and gpu power while the 6800 was hardware-wise.

Concord was supposed to be the main game to highlight the PS5 Pro's technical improvements. Sony thought people would buy the Pro to give them an advantage in Concord against other players.

I love how people don't count Sony published games or exclusives as part of the yearly lineup.
First of all Silent Hill 2 and FF7 rebirth are not published by Sony, neither they are Sony's first party games. Sony has blocked them from Xbox for buying timely exclusive rights. Eventually both are coming to Xbox because those games are not Sony's in anyways.
And Concord got cancelled, games which had lifespan of mosquito dont count for anyone. The game dont exist, its as simple as that.
So, its very small amount of games Sony has published for PS5

I dont think there are even 3 ps5 games now that dont have a 60 fps mode. You think that the pro is not going to have multiple options? I will be incredibly surprised if there is a game in the future with the pro enhanced tag that won't have a 60 fps option.
