Just saying it: I called the $700 price point weeks ago, and knew this was how the internet was going to react. The regular Series X with a 2TB SSD already goes for $600, so they were well in the clear to go above that, and they just recently raised the price of the PS5 in Japan by $90. There was no way it was going to be under $700. That being said, leaving out the disc drive AND the stand that probably costs them $5 to manufacture was a capital C Choice.
@@LastNightsGrime Unfortunately, if it's greed, then the entire industry is basically on the same page. I added up the cost of semi-equivalent PC parts and, on the conservative side, it would cost about $1000 to put something equally powerful together. Granted, at this point, if you're buying a launch PS5 for $500 and then a $700 "Pro" console 4 years later, you're already spending enough money that you're better off buying a PC and upgrading components periodically.
