you built some beautiful goa and psytrance patches ... my kind of musical composition Well deserved then I'm your follower on SoundCloud;) Beautiful Trance patches too eh ... a lot
any chance of a tutorial of how to get this connected to a windows 10 pc lol. I know there are instructions available; but a walk through would be super helpful.
In theory, the sh-201 editor and librarian works well through standard MIDI connection. So if you have MIDI interface it worth a try, but it didnt worked for me (old emu0404 usb audio interface).. patch reading-editing is a kind of midi sysex dump
Dope!! How are you using more than 1 sound at a time in these demos - as far as I know this synth only has 1 midi channel and is not multitibral. So you just record each channel as audio and move on to the next? Also, if the sh201 editor does not work, is there another way to get the sounds, perhaps via sysex?
Thanks! Yeah its monotimbral, I record every track separately and arrange in the daw. Unfortunately there is no way to sysex dump, but preset read/write works with most midi interfaces using the midi connectors. Mine works only through usb with sh201 editor
@@rcs2003 really huge let down when i bought it a few months ago - didn't know about the monotimbrality which is weird since it is a VA synth from 2006 - My novation nova from 98 has 5 or 6 parts 😁 anyway, u have some tips for doing it this way, like do you record each part as you go or first you make midi using VST's and the you find another sound using the saved ones on the SH201? Unfortunately i only have 32 slots to save sounds which is also nothing because I don't have PC but Mac and the Sh201 software does not work on my OS :(
@@lostplanet5355 In theory, yes. It depends on the midi interface. Mine doesnt work, cant read or write anything. So I have to use the USB interface. SH-201 editor or librarian is necessary to read/write anything, both via usb and via midi.
I agree. Its a budget hardware. Many vsts can sound much better than this for modern electronic genres. But if dont you have SH-201, obviously its not for you. I am pretty sure about i can create some kind of sounds on SH-201 that you never can do on sylenth1. Every synth has its own character. :) And nobody made trance style soundset for this machine since 2006, so i challenged myself to do it. In other hand, these sounds arent processed. No EQ, no tricky compression, no layering of 3-4 sounds on eachother, no any external effect, nothing.
@@rcs2003 Agree too. You can get very good oldschool trance saw lead if you want to aim for early 2000 trance sound. Then this might be the must have. I have had one symth from Roland EG-101 that was quite cheesy but fun.

Thank you!
Great! Im using the same! Killer one man!
Wow! Heart of Asia sounds better than original (at least for me)! Is it your own soundbank?
Thanks! Yeah its my own soundbank. I made three big soundbanks for the SH-201.

Sorry but you can get better sounds with Sylenth vst
