Huge fan of Dreadbox, this sounds beautiful and the effects sound fantastic! So glad it's polyphic, can't wait to hear more chordal playing and its 6 voice potential.
We are inching closer to what I really want. A keyboard poly with 61 keys, 8+ voices, and the gorgeous sound, thoughtful curation of adjustability, and lush effects we have come to expect from Dreadbox. I may pick this up while I hold my breath for my pie in the sky.
Thanks for the kind words! The effects on Artemis will be a big step up from Typhon. More variety, more of them at once, improved quality/resolution etc.
any chance of more sound videos for this? looks to be arriving in stores in my country in just over a month, would be nice to hear more before i pre order
We hope to have access to a pre-production unit very soon and we will definitely make a video! Also our friends at Dreadbox will be at the Buchla And Friends event in the US and they will probably do some interviews/demos there as well
Exellent gear and presentation .... Sound : Check Form Factor : Check Design / architecture : Check FX section : As usual , you made a superb job from what i hear !
Hey, I don't see any new demos of this synth from the dreadbox camp and you guys have a unit at your disposal so please give us some more tastes already!!
This sounds phenomenal, as synths go it doesn’t look too complicated/daunting either, guess it’s the sliders. These Dreadbox synths really handle a Bassline, lovely rich sounds. The stabby sound near the end sounds great, the unison of those voices creating short determined notes, lovely stuff.
The panel is fully “what you see is what you get”, the screen is mainly for effects and global settings. No menu diving on this one, it’s very hands-on and fun to use!
@ The arp and the sequencer will have their modes edited via the screen, of course, but there are dedicated buttons for those on the panel as well, as you’ve probably seen
@@IvoryStrings love the nymphes and it's an incredibly priced synth but this is two oscs, two filters, a bigger case with screen and full integrated effects, it's a different level so not surprising it's a lot more expensive. I have to say I'm sorely tempted
@@Underwaterbob Artemis is not related to Nymphes in any way, but it’s more like a more advanced polyphonic Typhon. All three remain in the Dreadbox lineup.
@@Sinevibes Now that you mention, the oscillator knob looks almost identical to Typhon (without the FM portion which looks to be a fader now, so always possible? Exciting!) Nymphes is only one oscillator per voice. Still, it's hard not to compare considering they are both 6-voice polyphonic analog synths. No sign of a shift button here, though.
There's a few effects that are the same (chorus, flanger, delay, granular reverb), but all others are new developments. There is a bigger variety of effects, too. For example, we will have a BBD chorus/flanger/delay, all-pass phaser, shimmer reverb. We will have a big walkthrough video for the effects, hopefully, closer to the production date.
wonder what the lfo2 xmod does; if there is really no mod matrix does it allow modulation of lfo1 by lfo2 (and /or vice versa?). is there any way to use the enveloppes for something else? @Sinevibes Ah so it's still a month or two away probably? Wasn't sure because it's available to preorder on stores already. I was thinking of returning something that's in a return window if this ends up being the thing for me instead.. I'll have to think about it, sounds great though. Thanks for the response!
@@hexwavemusic Yes, it’s available for preorder and we’re finalizing everything for production. Online stores like Thomann will have an accurate estimate for the date of availability.
Lovely demo - I really love the sounds. Mind sharing what effects are included and the chain possibilities? (Like is it Distortion or Flanger or Chorus that can go into a Delay or Reverb and whether the order can be changed?)
Artemis has a very direct and immediate interface with no menu diving, so it won't be as advanced as Typhon in the modulator section. Here the focus was to create the most quick and fun workflow for making sounds. Also Artemis runs 5 effects at once (compared to 3 on Typhon), and has double the variety of algorithms.
Yup I'm getting this. Ticks all my boxes, beautiful analog poly with a nice filter and that great Dreadbox sound, immediate hands on controls without menu diving, tons of sound shaping options, fantastic built in fx so I can ditch my pedals.. Gonna be a long couple months waiting for this 😆 Does this have the same cool tuning knob as the Typhon where it fine tunes near octaves and then steps in semi tones between them? EDIT: oh nm the tuning is a slider "DTN" I assume so probably different?
OMFG.... this thing sounds incredible. Another great collaboration. Not going to lie though, the price seems a bit high. Three times as much as the Nymphes.
@@tomphillpotts nymphes has patch memory. This is a much more fully featured synth than the (wonderful for what it is) nymphes though so not surprising it's a lot more.

Nymphes is a great synth (we have two in the studio!), but also Artemis is not an upgrade or a replacement for it. Artemis is a new flagship Dreadbox synth, and will be produced along Nymphes and Typhon.
Would you say the sonic range is pretty similar to a typhon? Just a super polyphonic version? If so, that's perfect. Love the typhon! Only thing holding it back was it being mono.
Well the sonic range is certainly quite a bit wider than the Typhon - as we now also have oscillator sync, sub oscillator, filter slope control (-12/24 dB), filter overdrive etc.
Just to make sure you know this - Artemis is not related to Nymphes in any way. Its analog parts are related to Typhon and Murmux Adept, so it's a more sophisticated architecture. It's quite more capable than both Nymphes and Typhon :-)
We are not involved in production and sales so don't really qualify to give you a proper answer. But... this is a good price for a boutique brand that manufactures in the EU (the case is made in Lublin, Poland, the synth is assembled/calibrated/packaged in Athens, Greece). Please keep in mind that many inexpensive or mid-priced polyphonic synths (with similar specs) are made in China.
Also, definitely it's competing against very capable synths and we’d of course say that Artemis itself is a very capable synth 🙂 With an effects section that, we'd argue, competes with synths costing much more.
@@Sinevibes almost everything is made in china now. They then get finished off and assembled in the country of origin so they can have a sticker that says made in (country of origin). Don't be fooled by the not made in china thing.
Of course some components are made in China, that’s absolutely true. But with Dreadbox, all is put together from small parts, they have an assembly workshop in Athens, where even wave soldering is done. We’ve been there many times 🙂
From the first demo I can't say it's amazing or it's bad, just no enough I think. But without any demos 6 voices with effects and memory - for me it's overpriced. From the first news I thought it's like Nymphes+Typhon but as I found it in commets here, it's boosted Typhon. Anyway I will leave my Typhon & Nymphes yet, they sounds amazing for their price, maybe the best :)
I don’t think this particular synthesizer is overpriced. I just believe it was a misstep on Dreadbox’s to release a product in this price range. If it had been a synth priced closer to 1000 euros, i think it would have been a success story with this sound. Too many options in this money with little more money you buy oberheim teo 5 or sequentail take 5 if you want analogue, or you can buy novation peak or with 1050 asm hydrasynth if you want digital.
I disagree, this has Dreadbox’s signature sound coupled with the excellent SineVibes effects. The Sequential effects are no way as good. The Teo 5 is more expensive and comes with a limiting 3 1/2 octave keyboard that I don’t need.
