TD42 Patrols, dominating hardcore 4x4 competition in Australia for 30 years, Bloody Legendary.
Love the 80, what a beautiful beast! Perfectly set up. 😍
2 of the best 4bys ever made 👌
100%
Tony , Shaun I have to say I am drooling over these trucks I think tony absolutely nailed it they are awesome , true tribute to the 90s mate . I'm a UK land rover man myself but I have to admit I'm secretly having wet dreams over old Toyota's and Nissan's at the moment. Bloody awesome keep it up lads !
Thanks mate!
100% true. The best Vehicles build in the 90's. 👍🏻😊
2 awesome rigs, tasteful & practical. Love it
Gq got that tuff military look and they can take a beating engines not rubber bands engines either. Everything’s tuff and truck like on them
Shaun instantly started to bar up when turned to the 80 😂
Two cracking rigs…great run down!
I've been waiting for the rundown on GME trucks! Tony did a great job on these. Cheers boys.
Cheers mate
for mine, both these vehicles are the benchmark for all capable 4wds. I drive a GQ..
I seen Tony's 80 series heading into Sydney a few weeks ago
She’s a regular M1 commuter 😉
@@t000nz I was in one of the tankers you passed
two unreal 4wds Tony, perfect builds
Thank you 🙏
The awning on that first truck is genius! I had a similar issue with my trailer awning. I ended up getting a quick connect system, mounted the awning on the side of the trailer, and welded a raised rail to the front of the trailer. When you get to camp, take the awning off the side, and mount it to the rail. Cheers guys!🎉
Mad rigs and Tony's a mad man 😂
How I wish my 80 series was that well equipped! Stunning builds, both of them.
GQ rego plate should be “NOTA80” & the 80 series rego plate should be “NOTAGQ” then it’ll be the perfect combination 😜💪🏽
Both a fab, both are different and well sorted and very special. Cheers Tony!
Absolutely love both of these vehicles...but that 80 series is just mint 🤩
8:37 … love the “shells” , crafty 😉
Simply cant beat a gq in the bush. Cant argue with him. Gq's are the Greatest hard wheeler in the Aussie bush, like shaun I just got to admit it'
There tuff
Oath my bro 🔥 built tuff
I'm a toyota man through and through. But I must confess the gq is better at the hard stuff, I have seen in real life and I have seen it on this channel with Jesse. I heard shaun and jock both confess to this in previous videos also.
GQ with GU diffs you mean?
if you took the good from a toyota, & from a nissan. youd have a pretty good 4x4.. toyota lost it between the 60 & 80.. nissan need longer coils, stronger mounts. toyota ditched the trans brake.went constant 4x4 bs.. i drive american, cos it works..not jeep..
That 80 is a work of art 🤤
Couldn't agree more! Stunning!
Years from now we'll look back and say this was when Sean came out. Love ya work Tony 2 bloody beautiful builds 👌👌
Drove next to this awesome rig on the Central Coast at Ourimbah afew days ago, was pumped to see ya tony!! 👌🏼👌🏼
Give me a wave next time!
I love this 80 so much. Sooty is a beast but this GME wagon really gives me some ideas for my FT-swapped 105. Just need to win lotto first.
Awesome video as always Shauno. Both vehicles are such awesome rigs.
Thanks for keeping it real, your authenticity is refreshing
G’day gents
Tony mentioned the complexity of the 12V in the 80 and how he can bridge the batteries. Can we get an in depth explanation or is there a video explaining this on the GME channel?
Just need to mention that Nissan is my preferred choice there Shauno 🤣
Cheers fellas
I have a basic redarc 12v isolator, sb120 I think, and that will bridge both batteries together for winching or starting if the start battery gets low for some reason...
@@andrewcoulter323 Why do you have an isolator at all, why not just run both batteries in parallel all the time. I have had mine that way for the last five years and the car starts when I even look at the key! I can definitely hear the difference with just one bttery.
Chowy the complexity comment was about the whole 12V system: 3 batteries, Redvision, Inverter, Fridges etc.
The bridging of batteries is simple, using a Redarc SBI12 battery isolator.
Tony, great info and details about both rigs. On your 80 series, what hydro boost setup did you use and did use continue using the stock gear driven ps pump? Any noticeable extra load/drain on the system with the addition of that hydro boost?
Marks 4WD mate. Standard pump. No issues so far.
Beautiful trucks mate!
I got a gu Td, would love have a 2ed rig as a Gq
Well done
That’s a sweet 80 series!
I’m an old school Pootroller (Cruisers too) but the 80-series hands down is the better truck! We build a lot of FTEs over here in the states and I fully agree with Shawno it’s the best of the best for Toyota inline six turbo diesel’s.
That’s cool, I thought it would be hard to come by a FTE in the states. I’m guessing you guys use the Yanmar 6LPA ‘s aswell
better truck for touring maybe, but patrols are better at the tough stuff and pretty good at touring too
@@Dadcandoit007Kevin no we import all the FTEs.
1HDFTE still my go to - Love that 80series guys! That TD42 is a mean weapon! Great run down as always. Greetings from PNG!
that 80 😍
Tony's a star love his new channel
Thank you 🙏
Awesome vehicles you have built Toonz 🎉🎉❤
Thank you 👊🏻
Love the big heater control buttons 😂
Yes
😉
That 80 omg❤😮 amazing
Got two GQ and GQ are king of NZ
Just watched your video on your trip to USA where you broke 2 free wheeling hubs. I can't believe a experienced off roader like you carried 2 spare hubs but not the original wheel hubs that can't be broken. GB
80 has to win for me hands down only because i own a 80 series myself........in white
Great episode! Thanks for doing this!
I really want a bed like that for my 1979 F350 4x4 , I think it would be just about perfect... Found your channel a few weeks ago and have now spent countless hours enjoying the ride.
I would happily drop my 80s keys into someones hands to make a young adults dreams come true that car is my Ideal car love it.😊
Well done Tony! absolute killer builds!
Cheers man
“Naturally aspirated motor with a turbo running 8psi”
I thought am drunk
Factory NA motor with aftermarket turbo
Nissan❤💪🎉
Another tuesday episod, this is becomming a beer fridges nightmare
Loved watching this...their should be more videos like this this on the builds themselves...awesome!!
Those are 2 awesome rigs. I’d love a Land Cruiser but over here in America they are super desired and therefore tremendously expensive. There’s a lot of your guys cars I wish we could get here.
Interesting to see you've taken the rear ladder off the 80 Tony, changing it up?
Yeah mate! Sold the old roof rack and ladder combo and switched to a new Pioneer6 platform
@@t000nz awesome! Be interesting to see how the new one goes
Certainly gave me an idea for mine and my brother's setup though, might try modify a RTT ladder to do something similar
Wow that tube around the rear tyre in the try is awrsome idea!!
Nothing better than home made anti-roks
When it comes to the 2 antennas, you guys needs an expert to help you with bandwidth and antenna length. My son reckons with the right antenna you can only use one antenna. He is a radio technician....Feel free to speak to me about radio frequencies and antenna choices. The use of a Birdwatt meter and precise antenna length cutting will ensure your antenna resonates at the correct frequency to have the best reception (RSSI) available.
I love 80 series❤️
I was always a Toyota fan, but after watching your show I think Nissan has it now.
Dream setup! Wondering where the custom scrub bars and rockslides got made? Wanting to grab a set
Kinselas Kustoms in Sydney
next let's see the ultimate 9 mods that makes that car so beasty
You need to step up your game on Sooty Shauno!😂😅😂
When’s the perentie cape trip dropping?
The “nota79” plate is available in the NT, would you mind if I get this for my Mog?
A lot of work goes into a Toyota to make it drive as good as a GQ
19:39 awesome video boys😁
Only GQ in the country with heated seats AND a center console cup holder, thats harder to find then rockinghorse sh*t!
💅
I loved the detailed explanation of mods. but one important thing missing was the price. how much did those mods cost? or even the overall cost?
i think everyone interested in 4wds would like to know that too.
Love the number plate.. NOTA79.. 😂
1. 79 is a rip off of the GQ front.. tell me I’m wrong!
2. Everyone man and his dog has a useless 79..
Been waiting all week for another awesome video from you guys 😁
Freaking badass!
if anyone takes only 1 thing away from this video its the short convo about sway bars. i have a bt50 and added an aftermarket sway bar as one of the first things i did to the vehicle after wheels and deleting all the tradie spec carry racks off the thing. other than reliability mods like egr delete its the nomber 1 upgrade i reccomend to anyone. most utes dont come with one and its stupid
Legends just got home from work
Lets do this
What is the minimum lift to run 35s on an 80? Do you even need the 3" lift?
not convinced by lack of power made up for by gearing; just had a rental 10 speed 4 cylinder Everest and it struggled to overtake on the highway barely laden. E.g. I only just succeeded by the skin of my teeth, to get back in lane before a vehicle travelling the speed limit went pass; it only just started to show on the distant horizon when I popped out (day time flat road). It was the first time ever I felt I avoided a head on collision of my own doing. Mountain roads also weren't good on its performance. I can't imagine it doing towing or being fully laden.
My mate Hayden, G Q & yes, 90ty are good vehicle. Ed
Here in the first hour once again, this is beginning to be a habit 🤣
Love your channel gentlemen , you have inspired me to start wheeling, now just to start saving. What are your thoughts on mod con Jeep wranglers!?
Which smart watch is Shaun wearing?
In the beginning of this vid Tony was talking about the engine in the first vehicle, he said it's naturally aspirated then he said it had a turbo with 8 psi boost. Well you can't both. If there is a turbo than it is not naturally aspirated.
It’s a factory naturally aspirated motor but it has a aftermarket turbo kit
It was naturally aspirated before the turbo was added.
Was this filmed at the arb test track near Freemans waterhole
😉
Legends, love the videos.
Heres a question i have a coil gq wagon and a leaf gq ute can you put the ute cab on the wagons chassis
Also the wagon is efi 4.2 with auto
Top bloody video
Do you still speak to Reuben and the other from the earlier episodes?
Yeah
Love the vid
Is the 80 over its rated GVM ?
Orgasmining through my ears with that 80 series
Coming from a GQ owner
Hows jessee's M57 swapped GU patrol going?
Yeah I would like to know the answer to that question too. My dream tourer is a M57 swapped troopy...
I want to see a built up hummer H1
Noice! Really noice! 👍👍👌👌
All the idiots with the comments saying first is why people that watch this channel get hate lol. Awesome rigs the 80 is my favourite, very tasteful
Gday
Beautiful rigs mate but elephant in the room, what does the 80 weigh? Speaking from experience, your over 😅
She thicc
Do you find you get a lot of interference with the two uhf radios?
No. As long as you maintain a minimum of 300mm separation between antennas and obviously don’t run them on the same channel.
hey can you do a 1968 toyota land chraca
You done put the steering wheel on the wrong side!
What runners did you use to mount your chairs in the GQ?
Custom made
Was the silvertop rebuilt or still running on original internals
Unopened motor with ~417k KMs
How is Tony affiliated with GME ?
920 Nm of torque, which is enough. - - I GUESS SO ! 🤪
What brand rims are on the 80?
DWC Legend
