I agree with everything you said about Best Press. My cutting and piecing jumped to a new level of accuracy since I started using Best Press. Becca, your hair looks fabulous!!
♥️your Stepping Stones quilt!! It’s gorgeous! And yes, I will be making one…or more.:) Your pattern really lets the fabric you love so much shine! So happy for you!
Oh no question, the stepping stone is awesome!! I'm going to use a fat quarter bunch that I have to make one!!! Thank you so much, so excited to do this one!!
Your version is 100% better ❤❤❤ love it. I remember the other one. Thank you for the pattern of your creation. Definitely looks beginner friendly and cost effective for me.❤
This is so funny! I have 2 charm packs and 2 mini charms in that line and got them out a couple of days ago and sewed one of the mini charms into 4 patches. I thought I was going to sew both packs and then cut the 5" squares into 4.5' squares since that's what size the mini 4 patches end up being. Then I thought I could add some white squares and the Kona color of the year from a few years back in Flamingo (?) but after I graphed it out I was pretty sure it wouldn't end up being big enough. After I searched Etsy for more fabric - and didn't find any - I put it on a time out!! It is pretty. I'm not really into this mix of colors together, so I don't know why I ended up purchasing it. And because I have such a huge stash of fabric anyway and am looking at 70 soon, I have deciced not to purchase more fabric unless it's needed to finish a project. I'm only allowing myself to purchase backing/background/binding fabric. Not gonna lie...I'm only loosely following my own directives!
Thank you for the pattern. I can't wait to make this quilt. I like your quilt better than the original one that gave you the inspiration. Way to go Becca for sure!!
Oh yea I have to say this version is so much better that first I got to say was not my girl becca's. I knew you had this in you ,thank you for sharing and providing me with a new pattern. Bless becca🙏
Hey Becca! Whoa! Agreed! The layout for the original quilt made no sense to me. Definitely not a good use of Tula fabrics-or of your time! . If I were you, I’d be deconstructing that quilt and reusing the fabrics in another quilt-or quilts. Your stepping stones layout is SO much better! I like patterns that are adaptable. By downsizing the blocks, this would make a nice-and quick-baby quilt. Thanks for yet another new free pattern! As always, you give great instructions. You just gave the best explanation re ‘nesting seams’ that I’ve heard. Thanks also for sharing your thought process re the rotating of your rows. Looking forward to our VIP Retreat this weekend! I’ll be prepping my fabrics while watching your Friday LIVE. Stay well, my friend! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
Good Evening Becca, I am so excited to make this quilt!!! Thank You So Much for Such A Fun Pattern❤️❤️❤️ I am in the middle of moving out of state, so it might take me a little bit of time to set up my sewing room, but I cannot wait to make this quilt❣️❣️❣️ 🥰👍🥰 Chris P.S. I will be sure to let you see it when I get it completed.
Stepping Stones is MUCH better than the Attic Window. Thank you so much for the pattern! I have been give a lot of fabric and plan to make quilts to donate to homeless shelters with it. This pattern will be perfect to use for to make those quilts.
Stepping Stones is my favorite... since the other top has such large pieces, it seems flat to me, without movement. Both fabrics are beautiful though. Thanks for sharing your re-do.
Stepping Stones is by far the best quilt! As for Attic Windows, since the pieces are so large, I would have laid it out before sewing it together, so I could tweak it without pulling out Jack.
Thank you so much for this pattern, Becca! I have 2 identical layer cakes that have been sitting around for a few years and THIS pattern will be just the ticket! I call myself a 'beginner quilter' ... but I've been buying a few layer cakes & a sporatic fat quarter now & then for 5-6 years.... Now that I am newly retired - Time to get those 4 quilt tops *finished* and make this new quilt! Thanks again. Love watching your videos!
Your stepping stones pattern is beautiful, much better than the other big block pattern. I purchased a fat eighth bundle for myself for my birthday this year. I think stepping stones could work well with it. Thanks for sharing!
Stepping stones is beautiful. I have to make some charity quilts and I am going to make a couple of the Stepping Stones ones. Thanks for making the pattern available.
I prefer Stepping Stones. I got a pattern online from JoAnns and it looks very similar to your first quilt. I loved the fabric and “feel” of the top. Even though it is exactly like the pic, I don’t like it. Not enough interest. I am going to get it quilted and donate it because the fabrics are adorable, all from my stash. Ballet hippos, alligators and pigs having fun. Also an ombré that really needed to be the full length and some fairies on the back. so I know a little person will love it. I’m gonna try your pattern with another fqb and hope for the best. Your hair looks great.
I, too, prefer your version; but I always thought the first quilt was lacking (as in a border or 2). I'd like to see you revisit the first with a thin black border (such as in the center) and then some of the aqua in Tula's Curiouser and Curiouser line. I think we would all be pleasantly surprised. Congrats on your pattern!
I like the stepping stones quilt! Actually, I love it. Becca, it is beautiful! The fabric is adorable. I can see why your first quilt was not so special. It really wasn't scrappy enough. I think the fabrics were okay, but the design was off a little bit. Thank you for this tutorial. Your thought processes and tips are very helpful for a beginner quilter. Have a wonderful day. ❤❤😊
Hi Becca! This is very similar to a Tiffy quilt! The one that went wrong such a waste of Tula fabric😮. Next time please send it to me and I will be happy to make u a quilt. 🙏👍
@@sewbecca I'd definitely do that. There are some big chunks left. Certainly enough for another type of quilt? Looking forward to seeing what you do for sure🎃
I love your pattern and timing was fantastic! I was just looking for fat eighth patterns. Seems like that is the precut that has the least amount of patterns and I wonder what to do with them. Thanks so much!! I will definitely make this.
Becca..thanks for the video about switching the pattern up. I have a question. What was that small white knob that was on your ruler when you were cutting the squares. It looked convenient.
Yes. Any time you introduce moisture/sizing (without pre-washing), you'll get SOME amount of shrinkage. That's why you always want to steam/starch BEFORE you cut.
I was not impressed with the attic window quilt. I like your Stepping Stone pattern!! I’m looking for something fast and easy for Christmas. I think this will work great for me. Thank you !!!!
What are you going to do with the original quilt top that inspired your design? When I end up with a design I don’t like but the fabric is still usable, I cut it up to make a new design- like the 9 and 4 patches that are cut and sewn back together to make a new design.
This was confusing. Your referring to Fabric A, Fabric B and Fabric C and showing multiple fabrics cut into 3 different sizes made me rethink making it. Everything else was informative and easy to understand.
Fabric A, Fabric B, and Fabric C are not specific prints but rather specific cuts. It’s laid out visually in the free pattern. Maybe download it and see if it makes more sense?
That's actually *my* website where the pattern is - not a third party app/website. :) Unfortunately, in order to purchase something from my store, you do have to create an account (which is why it's asking you for your email, etc.). Right now, I have the pattern marked down to $0.00 (until Nov 30), but after that, the price will go back up to the normal pattern price.
The first quilt is really all wrong and very sloppy. Those prints just don't even go together...really odd. Your pattern and fabric selection is great.
I agree with everything you said about Best Press. My cutting and piecing jumped to a new level of accuracy since I started using Best Press. Becca, your hair looks fabulous!!

thank you!
I love the stepping stones quilt
I think your pattern has a much better balance to it! Great job! ❤
Thank you!!
Your version is so much more pleasing to the eye than the original
I love your version Becca! It looks amazing and that fabric! Love it
Without a doubt, I like the Stepping Stone version. Thank you for the free pattern and I can't wait to start sewing mine.
The stepping stones is cute.🎉🎉 win for Becca
I like the stepping stones quilt Becca and I feel the same way that you do about the other quilt.
Oh no question, the stepping stone is awesome!! I'm going to use a fat quarter bunch that I have to make one!!! Thank you so much, so excited to do this one!!
Love your version of it!! I really love doing these easy big block quilts between hard patterns. Sort of a palette cleanser so to speak.
Your version is 100% better ❤❤❤ love it. I remember the other one. Thank you for the pattern of your creation. Definitely looks beginner friendly and cost effective for me.❤
I too like the "Stepping Stones" quilt the best.
Definitely like Stepping Stones better. That's wonderful fabric too.

Stepping Stones all the way, Love the border! You do so much, Thanks and God bless!!!❤
You are so welcome
This is awesome to use scraps and be able to use it for the donation quilts! Thank you for sharing this with us. ❤❤
Absolutely!! If you don’t have a F8 bundle laying around, grab some scraps!!
I like your stepping stones better. Thanks for the pattern
You’re welcome 😊

Maybe that could be a neat video topic. “I rescued the Tula fabric” lol
Stepping Stones. This one is next in line for me to make! I love scrappy!
I can't wait to see it!
On my to do list... 😊
Great!!

I think a little bit of pattern design and fabric choice!!
Thank you Becca for this free pattern. Love it and wondering if a layer cake would work?
Yes, but use TWO layer cakes.
@@sewbecca Yes will do thanks again ♥
Stepping Stones!
I prefer your quilt ☺️

Thanks for pattern. I have perfect bundle to use
Can't wait to see it!
Stepping Stones. Hoping to make your pattern
Stepping stones is my gote

Definitely like yours better. 👍
Hello Becca
hello!
Becca..thanks for the video about switching the pattern up. I have a question. What was that small white knob that was on your ruler when you were cutting the squares. It looked convenient.
It’s a little suction cup that you can get from quilters select. Same thing as the pop caps!
So, are you going to edit the original quilttop? A little dlicing, dicing, sashing?
Maybe. I do have some Tula on my shelves that I can pull and add in so the quilt top is a little more palatable.
Hi Becca!! what is the measurement of the quilter select ruler u used to cut down your fabrics?
I typically use an 8.5” x 12” ruler, but I think in the video - I was using a 10” square ruler.
Best press also smells good.
Stepping Stones. Can you please tell me where you got your spray bottle for best press? Thanks
Hi Sharon - I bought it off of Amazon and used my Cricut to put a 'Best Press' label on it. Here's the link: amzn.to/3MioqCZ
The step stone
Becca, does Best Press cause any shrinking?

I've ripped the seams out and put the fabric in my scrap bins to be re-used in a future project!
Stepping stones is so much prettier
Good decision sew with your gut decisions = what you love
I like Stepping Stones better
I heard a long time ago that when seams "nest" that they "marry". lol
Yes!
I like your pattern better
I prefer your version …it sings! The original seems lackluster to me.
Stepping Stones by far!!!! Attic Windows has too large pieces and not scrappy enough.
My thoughts EXACTLY!!
