I love that you didn’t walk around with the camera, bending down and panning(too quickly). You did an awesome job of inserting the video clips of what you were referring to!
Thanks so much! 😊 I wanted to make sure I showed EVERYTHING I talked about this time - slowly so you could really see it! Took me forever to record and edit - but I think it's well worth the time I put in! I'm quite proud of this video, glad you liked it!
Becca, one thing I’m finding in my own reorganization effort is that I need to know what I have and where it is. By approaching it that way, it’s like how you re-did your bookcase. I love what you did. It gives me a sense of real comfort in my room, as I bet it does in yours.
You are an excellent commentator. Your sewing room is a dream come true for any need and threader. May I dare to suggest adding on a small room for you to give classes, to share your extensive knowledge. Bravo!
You must be living in my head - because that is *precisely* what I want to do in the future. My dream is to one day own a space where I can host workshops & classes!
I just came across your channel today and this was my first video of yours and I love your Quilting/Sewing room. Plenty of space and plenty of great ideas! Plus I just subscribed and am now curious to see what else you have in your video library! Thank you for sharing your room with us and I love how you made this video because a lot of people move the camera around and bend over with it and almost make one feel motion sick, so thank you for how you filmed this! Happy Quilting!!
Wow! What a wonderful room. My sister is an avid seamstress and quilter. She is 7 years older than me, and always made me stylish outfits when I was little. I also learned to sew, but I not nearly as accomplished as her. Seeing your room helps me to understand more of what she does and how incredibly talented and creative she is. Thank you ☺️
To display the panda block, you could loop a wonder clip through the handle of the binder clip so that it hangs flat & doesn’t crease the block or anything.
My idea: I use my bed (when all of my blocks are done) as a design wall to decide the order of my squares. I then pile them up in order. I pin numbers on the piles for rows.
I've done that, too! If needed, I'm happy to do that, but if all I need to see is a row at a time, I'll admit I'm too lazy to go upstairs and use a bed! LOL
Loved your sewing room tour. You articulated every area so well and it’s so aesthetically pleasing as well as a really efficient work space. Now I want to replicate it when I get my old sewing room back. My daughter and 3 children moved in so I’ve relocated to what was our lounge room, but the rumpus room is bigger and so much more sewing room friendly. I’m definitely going to put a few of your great ideas to good use in there in the future. 🌹❤️
What a wonderful sewing room. You have some fabulous equipment and great storage. I love that you properly converted it into a room putting in nice big windows and a door. So many garages that are used are still garages and are dark, gloomy spaces that look damp and uninviting.
I watch alot of quilting youtube videos and never really order things based off of the UA-camr suggestion, BUT, I just had to buy the Slimline 3 Table Lamp from The Daylight Company #U35108... You showed us.... I got it off Amazon (and as of today 2/17/24 it is $143).. I cannot tell you THANK YOU enough.. this light is AWESOME and so glad you showed us your room so I could get it! I can actually see now at my cutting table.... :)
This is one of the best set ups I have seen. I have a new first time sewing room. When you said it took a couple years to do some things I felt better. I after a year am still adjusting and moving but love having things just about how I want them. Do like the idea of the target containers. Thanks for the visit
Don't worry, Connie! I'm 2 years in - and still figuringj things out! There are some areas where I'm pretty solid on how I have things put, and other areas that I'm just not sold yet!
Love your space. Thanks for your input on your last live. I just finished my first top. On my 1997 Singer. Now I need more fabric and a newer machine .😅😂😊 love you , Ian and Tiffany .
@@sewbecca Thankyou wasn’t fishing for a birthday wish just want you to enjoy the years I have some do’nt get that luxury god must have a purpose for me. Love watching all you do👍
A possible solution for your design wall problem, a friend of mine took an old pull down projection screen mounted it too the top of her floor to ceiling book cases and lined it with flannel . She pulls it down when she needs it and lets it up when she doesn't even when has blocks on it.
I’m exhausted lol. What an amazing creative space you have. I’ve decided that you have done all the work of setting up, so I will be on my way over to work in your guest spot! 2 cream one sugar pls ;) bringing my pj’s too. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic ideas. Love the light. I have half the basement with fluorescent lights but sunshine is better. I don't have room fir a design board but after listening to you I might clip some batting from my material shelves.
Happy Birthday 🎊 🎉 thank you for showing us your lovely sewing room! Windows with a view and sitting area! It’s a great place for creativity to blossom!🌸
Becca, this was an awesome tour of your sewing room! You're so lucky to have such an awesome space and you've made it so functional! My sewing room is one side of an unfinished basement. It works for me. I'd love to have a sitting area like yours! And I love the Kallax units under your longarm...yes I noticed the labels right away, very elegant! I'm gonna have to look into copying your longarm setup, love it. Thanks for sharing. I can't imagine how long it took to organize your thoughts and gather links to make this video.
I would like to see the quilt hanging on the wall I watch you all the time and sometimes I see a part of it showusyour quilts thank you I love how you organize your. Sewing room.
Hi Helen! I'm sorry you didn't get a close enough look at the pink quilt hanging on my wall (called 'Spring Chicken') - but, my vlog from earlier this year (linked here: ua-cam.com/video/gGyx8YGMvxo/v-deo.htmlsi=-E7gwJQSr35IhTnC) shows that quilt in detail - both on the front, and the back - as well as a few others!
Oh Becca, I’ve been watching your videos for a while but I had no idea you are sooo organized and such a “perfectionist” in many ways. Love love love your space. I can see how some of us might envy you 😉😜😆 Thank you for sharing ❤️
Hi Becca, Has it been 2 years ! Time flies ! Thanks for all the tips and tricks :) Great idea using those clips to hang up a block, like your panda, on the shelves :)
Your space is amazing! I would love to see a breakdown of how much it cost to convert your garage. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while but hard to find resources for affordable options. Thanks!
I like how you have organized your fabrics on the shelves by color. I was thinking how I handle yarns, might work for you as well. I take a photo of the yarns all spread out so I know what I have in each weight. Maybe taking a photo of your wall every now and thesis something you would have at the store.
Happy Birthday Becca. I adore your sewing space. Your organization and design are so logical and functional to me. I hope you have had a wonderful day.
Beautiful space and highly functional. It take time to personalize a space and a very thoughtful but rewarding task. Did you ever see the sliding design walk Irene of Sugaridoo has? I've thought about something like that - but my shelves are functional storage as it holds all of my fabric, but also serves as the backdrop for my videos. I'm not sure I'd want to part with that!
You did a beautiful job, thank you so much. I would LOVE to convert our 2 car garage to a studio but hubbie would be up in the air He already says we should move into a warehouse. Hahahah! I have lived here 35 years!! I bought it for my daughter and me. It is 1300 sq foot, 3 bedroom 2 bathrooms. I have 1 bedroom for a sewing room, he has the other to sit in all day and evening to watch news and read the "paper" on the computer and the other one is ours. I thought it would be a great house to retire in, I just didn't realize I would fall in love with quilting again after I retired? Who Knew? And Fabric designers!! What the HecK All that beautuful FABRIC. Ibsure do love what you have set up, it looks so beautiful. You have thought everything out so well and it is working just as you need it to. Happy Birthday! You did a great job on your room! It's so comfortable, too. You've given me so many ideas with ways to use my shared space where I quilt (and do administration for our day jobs). Day job stuff is slowly getting removed - champion procrastinator here - and more quilt space is appearing. Yes to the Horn chairs! I got one with my sit down long arm, and it's so comfortable! Thanks so much!
Hey, thank you for the birthday wishes! I'm so happy you liked my room and got some ideas for your own space. It's always great to find ways to make our shared spaces work for us. Keep quilting and enjoy that comfy Horn chair!
Great storage ideas. I am about to reorganize my sewing room and will try some of your tips. I especially like the idea of the clear storage for the charm packs and such. I love the Ikea shelves too. My shelves are the open metal shelves and I cannot store my fabric upright on them. I have been storing them in clear totes, but you cannot really get a feel of what fabrics are stored inside. Thanks again. Looking forward to see what I can do to improve my sewing space. Have a great day.
Happy Belated Birthday, Becca! What an awesome space! The larger bolts on the lower left (for viewers) - are those standard size bolt holders from fabric stores? I haven’t used comic book boards (yet) and have several 3-5yd cuts of 108” fabric. I do have several used bolt holders from Joann’s that I can use but wanted to check. How many yards of 44/45” fabric will fit on a comic board? Now I am rethinking my purchase of InterMetro wire shelving from The Container Store (always on sale; I rarely shop there and pay full price). I love the units because they are 18” deep and the shelves can easily be moved up or down as needed. They do not look as nice as Billy Bookcases would, though. I rent so I needed to get something easily disassembled that I can take anywhere. The smaller IKEA metal storage is not as great though a lot cheaper. This video has me seriously reconsidering how I have things set up. I need to do a thorough inventory which will take a while. Reorganizing immediately afterward would make sense.
Absolutely love your sewing space and your explanation of choices ❤ ... my fav tip is the use of space beneath your Longarm and the labels. Great video 👏

I love your room so much, especially the huge number of large windows. I love looking out to the forest. It’s a memorable room.

Your sewing room
Is what every sewer wants.
I feel so lucky that I get to spend time with my friend creating in this room. Even if I do fall down way too often. 🤣
...and I feel so blessed to have you spend so much time with me! Even if everyone thinks I push you down the stairs, LOL!
Sounds like some drama is going on, ladies.
lol.
Love, love, love your sewing room!!! So beautiful and practical!! 😃👏👏👏❤️
Your creativity with room design is exceptional. Congratulations. Your husband is a gem.

Same!

No matter the space you sew in, it's still a finite amount of room. Making sure you have a good storage system to take advantage of wall space is key!
I really enjoyed your tour, you have a beautiful space to be creative and help inspire viewers like me! Love that you have your Bibles close by too.❤
Thank you so much!

Absolutely beautiful!! If I had a sew room like that, I don’t think anyone would ever see me again. Hope you put a powder room in. 😂
Thank you for showing me your beautiful sewing room. I just have mine in a back bedroom and it is a mess. It was really good to see your room.
Absolutely beautiful sewing room. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful Room !!! Thanks for the tips. Glad to be able to tell my hubby he is not the only guy to give up his garage for his wife's quilting room!
I’m lucky! It was my husband’s idea for me to have the garage!
You should put treats in the vintage sewing case, like a secret chocolate box……yum 😂
Love all of your ideas! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECCA🎂💃🕺🎈🎉💃🕺💐🫶
Really great ideas. Can you show how to load the fabric onto the comic boards? I'm new to quilting and have no idea how to store yardage. Thanks

I've seen Tiny Orchard Quilt channel use this. It works very well.
I love your ‘real’ ending. 😊

Thank you, Di! Quilty hugs!
I use my longarm frame to lay out blocks or rows also.❤
Before I rearranged my room I clipped a 72 wide piece of felt to my shelves for a design wall . Love your room !
