Ion hazzikostas said in an interview that "MELEE" evokers were off the table. The wowhead article on the interview said that "Ion shut down the thought of a tank spec." But that's not what he said, he literally said "Melee" was off the table. We could still have a ranged tank and honestly that would be unique enough to make a tank around IMO.
Swtor has a ranged tank and its awesome, they also have a stealthy tank so they are known for trying more outthere ideas.

@@Oabize I didn't say there would be one, just that they didn't say no to a tank spec and that it would be interesting if they did a ranged tank.
Totally fine with augmentation evoker looks cool and even more unique.

The weird thing about evoker is that despite devastation being way too straightforward and, in my opinion quite boring, preservation actually has a lot of depth to it and is very fun to play because it feels like you can constantly improve playing it. Not to mention it basically has all the core abilities of devastation anyways so you get the best of both worlds and can provide fairly significant damage in keys. The healing spec definitely took the bulk of development when comparing the two.

honestly, being the third hero class added to the game, Devoker way underperforms where dks and dhs were as dps when they were first added to the game, and even underperforms both of them right now. Not that devokers arent good, but it seems they leaned more into balancing than rewarding early on in the cycle this time around. not neccesarily a bad thing, but just a different pace.

Feels like a lot of the skill and choice was definitely more in the preservation side of evoker, as the charging choice actually does feel more impactful on that spec. Sometimes, you simply don't have enough time for a full charged spiritbloom before one of the party members will die, and you should just send it with 2 or 3 charges to make sure they live and start reaping the rewards of extra essence regen. Similarly with dream breath, I generally want to get the party close to top, and then let the regen keep them there, so depending on how low they are to start I can adjust my charge.
Then moving on to echo, anomaly, and stasis. This is where the class really moves to one you really feel like you can "cook up your own combos" on, particularly in large raid environments. Things like VE -> Anomaly -> Dream breath(or reversion) -> Pop stasis> can throw out a decent regen on almost your entire raid, or a super powerful regen on half. You have other combos like Echo spam -> VE(To proc lifebind) -> Emerald communion(or reversion for weaker results if its not up)> for a ton of throughput without having to burn stasis or your stronger standalone heals. Changing the order of when you anomaly in stasis can also have a big difference in how your healing comes out, as you can buff your first spell that you stasis'd when you anomaly last. And of course you can just burn your most powerful spells with the typical combo for a massive burst heal if you happen to have all those resources up and time to charge that stuff.
Sometimes you can get stuck with a shitty stasis when things go wrong and you had to panic heal (something like a single target reversion on the tank, rank 1 breath, echo), and you can often do things before you pop it (echo spreading, popping VE if you used a breath) to sort of salvage it. I think that's a really fun situation with no clear braindead solution all the time.
The spec just comes off as feeling very free form and like each combo has nuance and a specific situation it can shine in. And that doesnt even touch on its great raidwide abilities such as rewind and time spiral to get your team out of pinches. And you can't forget dream flight hitting your fully stacked raid for 100k HPS. Really love playing the spec in both m+ and raid, but I'm just a casual who picked up wow few weeks ago, and havent done much past +20 keys and getting my aotc on voti before 10.1, so maybe my perspective is incorrect and it's more solvable than I treat it as.
I came from ffxiv and mained the healing role over there as well (Quad legend astro), and I gotta say preservation's design did not disappoint me. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Nice to see another vid from you man, you make pretty good content and makes me feel like i'm back in 2009/10. As for Evokers i've seen them around but i haven't had the chance to play one, they look cool enough, and i have a friend on my btag that plays one, and they do seem like they're decent healers but maybe that's just cause she's a good player/healer, i don't know i'm not a healer and don't plan on being one. Hope to see more from you soon.

Tbh, even though the mortal version isn't used often like worgen; I still wish they copied the dragon aspects and used them as the race options: human, elf, night elf and gnome.
It gives you that bit more connection to your character and should they ever let you swap which primary form you can use later (so you can go around as say a human worgen when casting spells or attacking) it would be prepared ahead of time.

My single biggest complaint is that Deep Breath is both functionally neccesary for burst, but also functionally unfunctional if you have even a 1 inch hill in front of you. just go into WSG and try to deep breath around mid for a while. the negligable easy rolling hills of WSG are an impassible mountain to this ability. also they are ridiculously squishy. a 5 second stun is guarunteed death. the self heal is actually pretty good, even as devastation. you can survive a 1v1 burst with it as long as you arent CC'd too long, so i dont think its too underpowered, especially since you can chain it to infinity without worrying about mana cost at all.

Did Blizzard really say "no" to tanks? That's really unfortunate.
The game needs more of them, and a black aspect tank is a no brainer.

As someone who has been playing evoker since the expansion dropped, I can definitely see where youre coming from with a lot of the criticisms. I actually thought a lot of the same things you did in this video, the abilities were clunky super, squishy, and feeling like there wasnt a clear flow to what I was doing. But the class actually does have some depth if you put some time into it. Some things I noticed while watching your video is that you shouldnt cast living flame and instead just wait for the instant cast to proc on it. That and just switch between using disintegrate and azure strike while other abilities are on cooldown. Also about evokers being squishy, they definitely are and have very little defensive abilities, you can kite mobs easily using hover and make sure you use it often. I think the "advanced" class moniker blizzard gave it is less because it has a complicated rotation, but that there is a learning curve in seeing how all the abilities actually fit together if that makes sense. No hate to you though it was a great cideo and I hope you keep it up! You echoed the starter evoker experience perfectly!

Also wanted to add that you made a good point with empowered abilities not being fully realized. Eternity surge is just wait until you fill the bars equal to the amount of enemies nearby and fire breath is either always cast at the first bar and then maybe the second or third during a trash pull if they're almost dead and that's it. Their needs to be more incentive to use higher tiers than just more enemies hit or more instant damage, especially since fire breaths DoT increases eternity surge damage with a talent so you lose dps if you use a higher rank

Ebyssian is a dragon, not a Dracthyr and thus his visage doesn't have to be belf/human. Blizz really seems to be putting in work to add defined rules to visage forms. Dragon visages show the draconic eyes now and Dracthyr visage forms are uniform across the race.
I agree that it is dumb though and you should be able to choose a visage of any playable race.

Mana is basically there to limit your use of healer spells, as you remain dcently efficient while still not losing resources for dps but with a very limited use.

The only problem I have with Evokers is their race, really. The dragon form is so off-putting in the game world for me, I would have loved it if they made Evoker a class available for every race (as dragons in the game are known to have visage forms of varying races) and then some big abilities would activate their dragon form or something like that.

I gained a free lvl 50 boost will that improve things? Will spells cost mana?
I have played classic exstensively in 2019 until wraith came out quit a while restarted era now.
Thanks for the help and content!

About the squish- I noticed you were using rank one fire breath on mobs with the comparison to shadow. A fully charged FB will one hit, or just make you cast one or two living flames. Evoker is crazy bursty and things were alive way too long.

if drakthyr have any extra class warriors or rogues are the absolute last, using magic to them is like using ur legs to run. If they have to have any other classes it should be priest, shaman, mage and hard maybe on warlock and druid. What they should do is just make dragonids and dragonkin playable.

  • @PiratDunkelbart
    @PiratDunkelbart Рік тому

6:20 No, its just that way. E.g. during BFA leveling as s priest felt like sh*t too. They were so bad, that you had to regenerate after every 2nd or 3rd mob, especially after lvl 115 and it was horrible with 118 and 120 with quest gear. It was even worse than classic. Imo this is a general problem. Your class gets weaker pretty soon (if geared up e.g. in 9.2)and if you werent geared up, it feels awful during the whole level process. It gets better at max lvl with gear, but imo the difference is too big. As a veteran I know it will get better, but it still is super annoying and e.g. right now I lvl all my als up through time dungeons, not because its more exciting, but because its easier.
@Evoker in general: I really dont like the dracthyr appearance and would like to have a counterpart to the glyph of stars (Your Moonkin Form now appears as Astral Form, conferring all the same benefits, but appearing as an astrally enhanced version of your normal humanoid form.) for balance druids. But I guess it will never happen.

It is extra-stupid to NOT have a melee class that can use polearms, considering that one of the intro semi-cinematics shows an entire ARMY of dracthyr equipped with polearms.

Devastation felt ok, Preservation felt too schizophrenic. Too many buttons doing too many things. Do I fire breath? Do I echo? Do I reverse? I don't fucking know. And every guide I find seems to put a weird emphasis on dpsing; *bitch, If I wanted to DPS i'd play devastation*

  • @sikhandtakerakhuvar9678
    @sikhandtakerakhuvar9678 7 місяців тому

Not just you; evokers *are* squishy. My feral druid stays up much better -- spend 5 combo points and get a free, *instant* heal, no cooldown. Evokers have one or two quick heals, neither of which is really enough for a difficult fight, which is likely to be at melee range. I think Evokers are supposed to use the two tail moves and Avalanche to keep from being melee'd too much, but the knockback would need to have a longer stun to really help.
Having one of your main heal spells being the same as your filler attack spell is really awkward if you really need a few heals, and your big ones are on cooldown, as they often are.
Evokers need armor boosts like warlocks have, plus 40 yd range like everyone else, and either better heals, or a more persistant shield spell.
My guess as to why so weak is to give players who complain "everything is too easy!!" a class to play that definitely is NOT.

The entire expansion feels unfinished. I am constantly running into bugged mining nodes for example; one of them sits there mocking me as its embedded in a wall since release and I can't reach it. They went right down the dumb path SL took and introduced so many more currencies, almost 15 in a single patch. I am seriously considering playing, I dunno, anything else at this point.
