They've got sooooo many good songs. "Rich Girl" needs to make an appearance - it's got a level of sassiness that I think really works well for Hall & Oates.
I wish she would listen to the studio versions, especially Hall and Oats. Hall really changes up the songs when he is singing live ….. sometimes even the melody is quite different than the original version!
The live versions of these oldies but goodies are fine, but I really wish your first reaction would be to the studio versions that were broadcast on the radio back in the day. I think this is how must of us remember these songs.
@4:34 'Hall & Oates' songs in movies: 'Kiss On My List' -> (Coffee & Kareem - Soundtrack) & (Pitch Perfect 3 - Soundtrack) 'You Make My Dreams (Come True)' -> (Ready Player One - Soundtrack) & (Eddie the Eagle - Soundtrack) & (Step Brothers - Soundtrack) & (The Wedding Singer - Soundtrack) 'Private Eyes' -> (Knight and Day - Soundtrack) & (Cherish - Soundtrack) 'Maneater' -> (No Hard Feelings - Soundtrack) & (The Place Beyond The Pines - Soundtrack) & (Runaway Bride - Soundtrack) 'I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)' -> (Aloha - Soundtrack) etc...
Out of Touch- Hall and Oates is another big song by them that went to #1 on the billboard charts in 1984. Love for you to react to that classic! Great reaction to KISS O M List!
Saw them live in Reno and they were spectacular. Not a bad song in the entire show. AND they sounded amazing. It was one of the best concerts I've ever attended.
They harmonize real nice for sure. Oates does for Hall as the News does for Huey. Chilliwack My Girl (Gone Gone) is a great early 80's beauty of a song. Chilliwack has some great vocals too!
Don't listen Britt. Always watch the artists performance or you miss the passion. Studio versions may be technically better, but ahhhh you miss the flavor!
@@lilamuzik3385 Yes but it's true, this live version it's not the best one if you wanna listen for the first time the song others live performances are better than this one
@@yatgrave1120Agreed,, Not to mention the fact that she should hear songs for the first time the same way we did,, Studio Version,, Plus,, The only way she can know,, appreciate & be able to judge the Live Version is by having something to base that off of,, Which is EXACTLY why she should hear the Studio Version FIRST,, Something that these people who insist on getting reactors to do the Live Versions first don't seem to be able to understand/comprehend.
I have LOVED Hall & Oates since the beginning ie. 70s & I STILL love them - esp. their 70s & EARLY 80s stuff. JOHN Oates, is not JUST good at back-up, he is GREAT at lead. I bet there was even some upset for Oates that he didn't get to do more leads as everyone was used to deeper toned voices like Oates but Hall's high, clear range was much "fresher" & fascinated people more at the time. I wish there had been more of Oates on lead songs - but then that would be great as there would just have to be more great Hall & Oates songs out there. You can't top Daryl's voice for putting in feeling in a song & his voice is so clean & pleasing even at high notes (whereas when SOME hit the high notes they make me cringe.) I think it is also down to his personality which was bright, innocent (at first - & even about life when he got into the music drugs) & interested in things. He also has GREAT charisma as he does sing with that fun & FEELING way & when he looks at the camera...(& I am not generally that fond of blue-eyed blondes.) John on the other hand supplies the comfort, warmth & sexiness in songs. His personality seems to have been more of the knowledgeable, sit back & observe things kind of way. The 2 together just seem to supply everything. I loved them both.
I love the fact that you can sing a little and I felt the same way when I heard these classics 40 years ago! So glad you appreciate song writing, arrangement, performance and timeless music.
I love how you break down the different elements of a song, Britt! You pointed out the perfect blend of Daryl Hall's strong vocals and Oates' supporting harmonies. You're right, their voices complement each other beautifully. It's clear you have a deep appreciation for good music, and it makes your reactions even more enjoyable to watch.
I said it before in a different video of yours and I’ll just have to repeat it on over here, you have to do a review of Hall and Oates “One on One” and watch the actual video to it because it has such a crisp studio sound to it and the wordplay on it is perfection. Trust me when I tell ya girl.
Darryl Hall (Hall & Oates), Phil Collins (Genesis and Solo) and Sting (The Police) during this late 70s/early 80s....were just incredible song writers in this soft rock, rnb type sound.
Hi Britt. Started watching you about a month ago. Enjoy your fun, analytical, vibe and commentary. Just a thought? I bet you can sing! I hear you sometimes...mimicking the songs you're listening to and I think you probably have a pretty darn good voice if you truly try and sing. Keep up the great work on your channel. Sincerely, Paul in San Diego🌞🌴
A MUST HEAR Classic,, Hall & Oates "Las Vegas Turnaround" (The Stewardess Song) Studio Version a MUST!!..TRUST ME on this one my music lovin' sister. ❤️🔥
I've always loved your reactions to Hall & Oates.. and yes they do their own songs. There's one cover though that I think is so full of soul, It's a cover of Gladys Night's Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye). My favorite is the one from Live From Daryl's House. You cannot miss that..
I sat next to Daryl Hall in 97 at Lynnwood Ballroom Lynd Minnesota. He ordered a Roman Coke and John Oats was playing Foos Ball with the band. Only a 600 showed up for the show but it was great. Talent just pours out of Darryl at a live show.
He has a lot of videos from his TV show Live from Darrell's House where each show he features artists and performs with them. Really great show. Not sure if he is still doing it but it ran a few years. During the show the perform and have lunch together while discussing their careers and funny things they experienced.
They definitely have a blast at live performances, you can tell. Unfortunately, this videos audio quality is horrible. Def check out the album version.
You are one of the very best reactors because you talk about how the music makes you feel. So many reactors talk about the tone of the guitar or the fashion or some movie they heard the song in and that stuff is not really very interesting. What makes people want to watch reaction videos is to see people show how they feel as they listen to music the viewers have known forever so they can't have that first time feeling again. Plus you are very articulate and have intelligent opinions. Oh, and you choose to react to good songs. So keep it up!
You need to be doing studio versions of these songs. They had such good productions and their music vids in the 80s were really good... I d recommend Method of Modern Love next...with the vid you will dig it
If you like this you need to check out their album "Live at the Apollo". They do a Motown set with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks of the Temptations. Of course, their classic, Sara Smile is fabulous.
There’s a great series of videos featuring Daryl Hall hosting various musicians just coming over to his house to play music with him. Live at Daryl’s House. It’s a great hole yo dive down to see some amazing pairings.
You have to watch the movie “She’s Out Of My League” for some good times. Their music is featured by a band (tribute band) that only plays their music. It’s super fun!
Watch some clips from the "Daryl Hall" UA-cam channel where you'll find Live from Darly's House. He has guests singers come by to sing with he and his friends. Great performances!!
WATCH THE SONG FROM THEM ONE ON ONE. THE ORIGINAL VIDEO. YOU WILL MELT. I TOLD U THIS ONCE BEFORE. AND YOU WILL. TRUST ME. ALSO PRIVATE EYES IS A FUN SONG.. ITS REALLY GREAT.
Yeah, Rich Girl is great! John Oats. When I turn out the lights. They became the highest selling Duo, and may still hold that title? 2nd guitarist looks like G.E. Smith.

Love your reactions to some of my favourite music, if you liked listening to “don’t dream it’s over” you should listen to a song his brother Tim Finn sang during their time together in split enz, it will blow you away
The most successful duo in rock history for a reason. Such a great catalog.
They've got sooooo many good songs. "Rich Girl" needs to make an appearance - it's got a level of sassiness that I think really works well for Hall & Oates.

"Private Eyes music video is really nice.
John Oates was once asked by a reporter about his part in the group at which he stated John. I am the best Expensive Paid backup singer of a group.
I’m I the only one that thinks Britt should sing a Hall & Oats cover? She really does have an amazing voice and a great ear!

This was a #1 song in 1981, the second off their album Private Eyes, from the same year, including the title track. Truly one of their best releases.

They were on the epic song to raise money for Africa.
The lead guitarist here is GE Smith, who was the band leader of the SnL band for many years.
Along with the brilliant T-Bone Wolk!
Wow, this must be live? It's definitely NOT the studio version. Probably my favorite track of theirs! Really sad that they're feuding so hard.
Hall & Oates one of the few duel pair singers that were better than just best!! They were on fire!!
Saw them live in Reno and they were spectacular. Not a bad song in the entire show. AND they sounded amazing. It was one of the best concerts I've ever attended.

GE Smith with the guitar solo!
He worked on SNL during the glorious 80's and into the 90's didn't he?
@@KneeJerkReactions13yep
Hall and Oates "Maneater" official video. I've always loved that song.
The guy who played the guitar solo is GE Smith, he led the SNL band for a long time.
Nobody noticed that was GE Smith from SNL on the guitar solo?
This song plays an important part in the very funny movie You Again and keep watching the credits as Hall & Oates show up.
I believe it was the late Wilford Brimley, who reminded people about the overall benefits of Oats.
Hall & Oates "When The Morning Comes"
(Studio Version a MUST!!) 🎸❤️🎶
I'm A Huge Fan Of Hall & Oats. They Have So Many Hitz. Great Reaction👍🏾💯👍🏾

"Kiss On My List" other versions from "Live at Daryl's House" include "Daryl Hall and Rob Thomas' and 'Daryl Hall and The Doors'

Air Supply is a good duo. You will love them.
This song came out in 1981 and started their most productive era through 1985.
Try reacting on possession of obsession by Hall and Oates you will be surprised who does the singing at that song😊
THIIIS. I loooove hear John being the lead singer. His voice is so beautiful and soft. And the song is precious. One of my favorites by them

Britt is so easy on the eye. I Love her reaction to these great songs .
John Oates is the perfect foil for Daryl Hall. Love them!
On Lead Guitar they Have G.E. Smith One of the great Studio session Guitar Players. He was the Band leader for Saturday Night Live for years as well.
"One On One" is, in my opinion, the ultimate PDC song of theirs.

They are great live, but the studio versions are magical.
It is the writing team Daryl Hall, John Oates, Jenna Allen
G.E.Smith, the lead guitarist here, went on to front the SNL band for 10 years.
John Oates.. they did right there own song....listen to there song." I'll Do it for love. "...

I love the La La La background vocals

You have to watch the movie “She’s Out Of My League” for some good times. Their music is featured by a band (tribute band) that only plays their music. It’s super fun!
Not doing the (mostly superior) studio versions to avoid strikes?
You need to listen to (Some things are better left unsaid) and (Out of touch) by them...
Check out some Todd Rundgren
...also a Philly guy who Hall and Oats appeared with on his Back to the Bars album...kinda the same style of vocals!
For the next reaction “possession obsession” is so good, John Oates does lead vocals. The liberty 1985 concert is a good live for the song.
Oates always joked he was the highest paid backup singer ever
You’ve got to start reacting to “Live from Daryl’s House” and see Daryl’s SAWG in his 70’s! So freakin’ cool.
