Can confirm this technique is very effective, used this method of rigging my baits and within the hour had multiple hookups and got my biggest reel spooled
A solid way to rig, my way is similar. Ill only skin hook the fish, then use the cotton string to orient the hook eye and be the real structure that holds the rig together; i kinda come up from the bottom, go through the eye of the hook, double back, then tie off. It's hard to explain in text, but it gives a perfectly oriented hook with 95%+ of the hook gap unobstructed.
I like to do something similar when gar fishing. But I’ll add a treble hook out the mouth of the bait as well for better hook-ups. Keep up the good work!
Get ready to loose every rig if you gar fish with a treble. The trick is to float the bait and let it swim for a good time and set the hook after you KNOW they ate it lol(usually they stop once or twice to eat) I got a 6’8” about 3 years ago but the same day I saw one that dwarfed him so I’ve been after him ever since! Good luck
I live in MN and fish the st croix and Mississippi, I’d be curious how well it would work as opposed to just hooking it normally. I’ve also never used huge baits
Nice Black Tip! All that a can manage out of the surf are some pretty nice Leopard Shark and some Sooth Grey Hounds. A few friends of mine were fortunate enough to catch some Soup fin and Seven Gills out of the kelp line. Also some Thresher and Makos trolling mackerel. Hope to see you make some ocean Kayak fishing videos 👍🏼
I would love to see a leopard shark in the wild! Sounds awesome man. I definitely would need a better kayak for fishing further out, but eventually yeah!
@@wildlifefishingshow it would be awesome to see a kayak manufacturer offer you a sponsorship! I see Old Town hooking people up on UA-cam who have many subscribers quite frequently.
You dont need to go out that far for little sharks, im guessing that that one was 3ish feet, i have caght 5 to 6 foor sharks during the day, in the 2nd and 3erd gut, but sharks that size cruise in the 2nd and 3erd gut all the time. If you where going for 9 plus feet you generally need to be out that far. But biggins cruis the 3erd sometimes, once i hooked a 10 foot tiger in the 3erd gut, that was at padre island national seashore though.
Depends entirely on one's circumstances. On this particular beach, they retreat back to about 150 yards after a certain point in the day. I'm sure other areas are different but that's definitely the pattern they seem to follow where I was.
Biggest shark i ever caught was on a hand tossed bait on a 9/0 and he was sitting right at 6'6". Buggest I ever seen caught was on a 9/0 also hand tossed bait and he was 9 foot
We need to get him more popular. Some of the most informative vids on UA-cam by far
I'd like to see him team up with Bama Beach Bum and AnglerUpWithBrant. Brant said he's keen to do more collabs with more fishermen in the south east.
I like your idea of not using zip ties. No more plastics in the ocean.

I was thinking on my way to work “when is the new Wild Life video dropping” and boom here we are! Thank you for the content!
Thats a great idea, thank you for keeping plastic out of the ocean! Just trying out shark fishing and will use this technique 👌
Actually looks like a good way to secure your bait in definitely going to try
Lmaoo the screenshot of the whiting looks like fish bondage
bro, this is super useful info! thanks for sharing
Brilliant vid mate. Thanks for sharing your rigging technique.
Worked perfectly for me when I tried
Awesome

Nice! Thanks for the shark bait tutorial.
Cotton thread? Use bait elastic!! I haven’t seen one American fisherman use it but in the uk we don’t leave without it. It’s great.

I do plan on getting some!
@@wildlifefishingshow couldn’t recommend anything better, watch any uk anglers videos

You are good on this!!!
Thanks!
Very helpful. Good job.
What's going on man! That was a nice black tip! and some really good information on setting up your bait for shark fishing! Great video!
Thanks!
Thank you!
Awesome, thank you. Where in Texas are you fishing?
This was filmed in Surfside, near Freeport.
Ey man you did really great
I watched this and live in Wisconsin going to use this method for fatti flatties (flathead catfish ) and lake sturgeon lol

Be nice to yourself. Get an Avet EX to replace that Senator.
I want one for sure but the sharks I typically catch don't really justify needing an EX just yet. Maybe later this year.
Not how I do it in my part of Florida.
