Kevin Olusola, the beat boxer, is an amazing man! He played saxophone and cello at Carnegie Hall when he was in high school. He speaks 6 languages fluently and graduated Yale pre-med. He has his own site (KO) that really showcases all of his talent. You would love his cover of "Down".
That is Avi Kaplan, the original PTX basse from 2011-2017. He left amicably. Matt Sallee has been PTX’s basse since then. Scott Hoying (the blond baritone) covers for the basse when Avi or Matt are singing the main melody. I love them all, they all do such an amazing job. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them live. What a treat! I also have the highest respect for Ben Bram, who works with them all on arrangements. Keep enjoying. It’s worth it. 🤗
Pentatonix MUST SEE videos: “Hallelujah” “Can’t Hold Us” “Problem” “Sound of Silence” “Evolution of Michael Jackson” “Evolution of Rihanna” Just to name a few!
The brief switch to mono, then panning left and right was an homage to the original Queen song. If you check out the Queen video they did exactly the same thing in the same spot. Surprisingly, none of the reactors I've seen has picked up on this.
“Homie with the beard is EPIC!” Haha. Love it! Also love that you replay the vocal gems when you hear them. Cuz we know they’re actually all EPIC sparks of 🔥!
Love that you go back and replay the bits that impress you the most. With PTX, there's always lots to check out again, and again! More Pentatonix, please. You will go ape for their "Daft Punk" medley.
There's many many PTX reactors around, but I feel few truly enjoy them like you do. I love all those little things you pick up in their songs. The attention to detail is their magic, and I think it's great that you notice them. Their cover of John Lennon's Imagine has so much soul it's unreal, it's a fantastic take on a classic done by people who truly get the meaning behind Lennon's lyrics. And if you want to check them out doing something with far less production than this, watch their cover of Kiiara's Gold. It's just them on a couch with five mics making an insane arrangement look and sound like a walk in the park.
It took them 8 hours to film this. They had rented a desolate street from 10PM until 6AM. In a few places it's so cold you can see Kirsti's breath and in a few places you can see the pre-dawn sky getting lighter in the background. There are two companion videos that go with this. A making of... video and a side-by-side comparison to the Queen original. both are killer.
Imagine...Sound of Silence...Amazing Grace...Hallelujah...Can you feel the love tonight...Mad World...lol. Anything you choose will impress you. Great reaction again. Genuine enjoyment shows through. Thanks and stay safe.
At the beginning, when you heard the three sitting on the back of the couch going duh duh duh. That is to mimic what Freddy is playing on the piano. They do it in other parts of the song, as well. Those three are Kristen (soprano and alto), Mitch (high tenor) and Scott (lead and baritone). Kevin is the beat boxer. He also plays cello, raps, mimics a trumpet, and sings tenor. He, of course is doing the drum sound effects. Avi, is the bass singer. He also uses his voice to mimic the bass guitar. Mitch uses his voice to mimic the guitar solos. Listen to the Queen version then their version back to back. You will see what I mean.
I giggled like such a lunatic through this whole video that my dog was giving me worried looks. I'm not even mad Mitch dodn't get any particular mentions for his lead vocals. If you haven't watched Daft Punk (I'm multitasking so can't check atm), that is usually next. People usually mention Sound of Silence right off, which is also up there for intros to PTX. New Rules x Are You That Somebody is also a great one to introduce you to the current bass (2017+ Matt Sallee) that has crazy bass and beatboxing. If you want to go back to the beginning, Problem and Can't Hold Us are both really popular for reactors to do. But really... anything and everything PTX is great. You've got a more than 100 to choose from. I usually tell reactors to name a genre or mood you feel like covering and fans will give you options - PTX does *everything* at least once.
Yeah, I just love Avi's voice. He majored in opera in college and is a superbly trained basso profundo. Unf. The resonance of that voice, man. **chef's kiss** You feel that stuff rumbling your *soul* I swear. Give his solo stuff he's done after leaving PTX a shot, it's amazing.
Fun reaction, thank you 😊 Some of my favorites Daft punk, Imagine, Can't hold us, Sing, Love again. But you can basically pick anyone of their songs and be blown away.
They do Queen justice. If you like medleys try Evolution of Michael Jackson or Evolution of Rihanna Try Daft Punk if you would like visual and auditory overload. .
I love how energetic and into the songs you are. I feel the same when I listen to amazing music! One of my favorite newer songs is “new rules x are you that somebody”. It’s amazing and really displays the new(ish) bass (Matt) and the beatboxer (Kevin). They are so prominent and awesome in this one, you might really enjoy this mashup!
if you like to be blown away, try to react to kevin olusola's "Down" cover, also ptx's: "Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy" "Daft Punk" "Love Again" "Can't Hold us" "Hallelujah" "Sound of Silence" "No" cover "Gold" cover
Daft Punk Medley and their original Love Again for visual impact from their early days, awe-inspiring classes Hallelujah, Imagine, and and more recently Amazing Grace, Mary Did You Know for prettiest vocals, La La Latch just because it's my favorite, and more recently, Shallow, Havana, and their original Can't Sleep Love.
Back row: Kirstin Maldonada (mezzo-soprano, 4 octaves, Eb3-F#5-A5-Bb7. Whistle note! ), Mitch Grassi (Mitch's voice spans 6 octaves and 1 tone, from A1 to B7. He also has a whistle note! Check it out!). & Scott Hoying (Baritone, D2-C#5-G#5). Front: Kevin Olusola (singer-songwriter, beatboxer, and cellist. Tenor, G2-G4-G#5). Avi Kaplan (Lyric Bass, F#1-F#4-D5). Avi left on a solo career. Check out his music too [how low can you go]). Now we have Matt Sallee (Bass/Baritone G#1-F5). Everything Pentatonix!! You can't go wrong!
Pentaholic here! Just subbed...Love your reactions🤣 . Enjoy the ride. They are the BEST! Check out La La Latch mash up, New Rules X Are You That Somebody Mash Up, Happy Now, there's too much to list...pretty much EVERYTHING they've done, original and covers! Have Fun!
I believe this is the most stunning tribute to Queen and Freddie I've seen since, well...since...Queen and Freddie. One that comes very close is Jordan Smith--a contestant on The Voice--singing "Somebody to Love".
I love your energy and enthusiasm with your reactions! Thank you for that! Pentaholics thoroughly enjoy reactors appreciating PTX like we do! You could say that we thrive on it! You should check out Hallelujah! Their live Christmas special version is amazing! You can see them doing their thing in a live setting! Also, Can't Hold Us cover is really something special! You'll be smiling the whole time on that one too! Keep 'em coming!
Great reaction, I was looking forrward to it! Imagine (by John Lennon) is my suggestion. But you can choose whatever you like, you can't go wrong with Pentatonix. Someone mentioned somewhere: They don't do covers, they do upgrades. And they have great originals, too.
Hallelujah Daft Punk Sound of Silence Love Again Can’t Hold Us Mary did you know Evolution of Music Havana Aha! Take on me There’s so many more but those are some of my favorites
Glad you appreciated their "bell tones". (the dum, dum, dums) They are cool. Great reaction! Try an original of theirs like "Sing" or "Happy Now". They won a TV a cappella competition called "The Sing Off" in 2011. There are over 10 performances of theirs on UA-cam from that show. Put "Sing off Pentatonix" in the search bar. The performances are numbered. Start with 1. It will show you how they started and how far they have come in 10 years. Thanks for your excitement regarding PTX! We love them and they love us (including you!).
Bro. Get ready to go into the rabbit hole of Pentatonix. Do Can You Feel The Love Tonight.... And even though it's a Christmas song all the other channels are doing it and they're getting major hits Mary Did You Know.
This is a year old, like your other PTX reactions, but I'm having so much fun watching you. Seriously, it's making me so happy I'm giggling, and I'm 59 years old. But I'm a cool 59. This is like you're like a kid on Christmas opening one present after another and each one gets better.
L O VE the Pentatonix reactions!!!! 🙌🏼🤗Pleaseeee react to pentatonix cover of Gold by Kiiara! It’s probably one of my favorites because the original by Kiiara is soooo heavily edited seeing them cover the song so effortlessly makes it that much better! Keep up the great videos! 😊
Great Reaction!!!! Please check out Their Covers of "Imagine" by John Lennon, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" by Elton John, "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, & "Somebody I Use To Know" by Gotye, and Any of Their "Evolutions" of Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Rihanna, & Ariana Grande!!!! And Their Mashup "New Rules x Are You that Somebody"!!!!
The use of the sofa is a nod to their early days. The production for their videos was much less extravagant back then as they are today. Most of their videos were just the five sitting on a sofa just like this video.
Your reactions are so joyous. I love them! For some reason, people don’t often react to the mash up of new rules/are you that somebody which uses the old school Aaliyah beat. It has their new bassist Matt in it and it’s so very well done. You should check it out even though you won’t get as many requests for it. I think you will love it. I think people forget about it for some reason.
Wait til you react to Imagine and Daft Punk. Also the Wizard of Ahhhs was great. Their originals are so good as well. Especially Sing. Hallelujah will move you to tears. The Sound of Silence is fantastic too. Mad World is another fantastic one. I could keep going.
Hello DTV....Such fun to come back to this one 7 months later to see your reaction, before you even knew their names! "Homie played the drums with his mouth" LOL. "I hear a guitar" Double LOL Loved your reaction and such fun to see this now, since you now know them all, and their names and you know what they can do. I know you have done some other songs of theirs but more PTX reactions please.
You had me laughing ... homey just played the drums with his mouth me: yep you: homey just played the drums with his mouth me: yep me: guess what, wait until you hear the electric guitar bro. BTW ... they do this on stage/live with no pre-recordings and no megaphones.
You wanted to know what PTX did with the song? Brian May, the guitarist for Queen, recommended it. HE acknowledged it was a really good cover. If one of the original artists liked it, what does that tell you?
I love your reaction! You really took the time to appreciate everything they did. Looking forward to more PTX reactions! You should also check out Kevin's solo stuff, especially "Down" he is fantastic
Kevin is unparalleled as a beatboxer. He's also got a wicked voice, especially his falsetto. If you want to see another beatboxer that will blow you away, check out anything by Home Free, esp. Ring of Fire.

Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Sound of Silence, Mary Did You Know? Avi Kaplan (the base) is a God. So is Mitch (the lead here) and the others are great too. Some beat boxer, right, but the others fill in too.
I've heard alot of beatboxing in my life but i never heard someone do it like he just did... 5:12 thats crazy.. Low key thought it was drums for a sec.. Or at least drums over his beatboxing... Dope.
Mitch was asked on a Livestream what advice does he have about doing guitar sounds. He finally said I don't know I just wing it. This is one of my favorite videos for reactors to react to bc of everything. Kevin physically playing the drums that aren't there, Mitch doing the guitar, and everything else
Pentatonix is the best A Capella group, but to complete the trifecta you have to check out Home Free "Man Of Constant Sorrow" and Voiceplay "Oogie Boogie Song". There is some overlap in the styles these three cover, but each specialize in a different genre.
PTX. S. Come along is great, their cover of Gold will amaze you and Daft Punk is a must see Also since you know Kanye. They covered Love Lockdown in their early days on the sing off. Look up PTX on Sing Off. It will blow your mind
Welcome to the Pentaholics! I'm sure we will welcome you to the Home Fries at some point LOL when listening to this song and others, kind of makes you think Sony is kicking themselves for dropping them LOL
🤣"Hommie JUST PLAYED THE DRUMS WITH HIS MOUTH!"

I mean, the other guy is going play a guitar solo, so I can't wait to hear that bit :D
And hommie with the beard is epic
@@bethvargas8841 Avi is his name
When he was freaking out about Kevin's rolling toms beatboxing, who else was thinking "Just wait til Mitchs guitar solo, my guy!"?
guilty
Yes indeed!!!

"Mary did you know" and "Hallelujah" will likely move you to tears.
Their cover of John Lennon's Imagine is epic. So is the Evolution of Michael Jackson.
They waited 5 years to do this just so they could get it right. Queens guitarist posted it and simply wrote, "ENJOY".
Pentatonix MUST SEE videos:
“Hallelujah”
“Can’t Hold Us”
“Problem”
“Sound of Silence”
“Evolution of Michael Jackson”
“Evolution of Rihanna”
Just to name a few!
Hallelujah is their most viewed cover with 600+ million views and by far my fav 🔥
The brief switch to mono, then panning left and right was an homage to the original Queen song. If you check out the Queen video they did exactly the same thing in the same spot. Surprisingly, none of the reactors I've seen has picked up on this.
“Homie with the beard is EPIC!” Haha. Love it!

Kevin is one of the most talented people on the planet! The beat boxing, singing, cello playing and I'm waiting for the next... He is just WOW!
I think you might like their cover of Can’t Hold Us, or their original “Sing”.
Imagine...Sound of Silence...Amazing Grace...Hallelujah...Can you feel the love tonight...Mad World...lol. Anything you choose will impress you. Great reaction again. Genuine enjoyment shows through. Thanks and stay safe.

The bit with the shooting stars at the end was a tribute to Queen’s guitarist, Dr. Brian May, who is an astrophysicist. 😁💫

So fun to watch a new member of the Pentaholics. Welcome to the rabbit hole! We'll be with you the whole way.

Great reaction, I was looking forrward to it!
Imagine (by John Lennon) is my suggestion. But you can choose whatever you like, you can't go wrong with Pentatonix. Someone mentioned somewhere: They don't do covers, they do upgrades.

Anything Pentatonix is great. Also check out Home Free Man of Constant Sorrow.
Great reaction. Thank you. They are incredible. Looking forward to more PTX reactions from you.
Mad world and sound of silence

You wanted to know what PTX did with the song? Brian May, the guitarist for Queen, recommended it. HE acknowledged it was a really good cover. If one of the original artists liked it, what does that tell you?
5 years. They wanted it be perfect and practiced it for 5 YEARS.
I love your reaction! You really took the time to appreciate everything they did. Looking forward to more PTX reactions! You should also check out Kevin's solo stuff, especially "Down" he is fantastic
Sound of Silence
Daft Punk
Amazing Grace
Mary Did You Know.
Look up live performances also... Crazy!!
I know it’s summertime but you got to check out their version of the Christmas carol “O Come All Ye Faithful “. It’s my new favorite rendition.
You're commentary cracks me up but I love your music appreciation. They killed it doing Radioactive with Lindsey Stirling.
I just found this one … and I love your delight!
You'll like Cheerleader, Daft Punk, Can't Hold Us, and New Roles x Are You That Somebody just to start...but just dive in, weighing they do is fire!!
Can you feel the love tonight and Love again (original). Welcome to the rabbit hole
Kevin is unparalleled as a beatboxer. He's also got a wicked voice, especially his falsetto. If you want to see another beatboxer that will blow you away, check out anything by Home Free, esp. Ring of Fire.

Please react to Pentatonix singing “Sing”
One of their 1st original songs.
I don't see very many reactions to "we are ninjas". Its quits short, but think you'd enjoy it.
You need to see Daft Punk, Sugar Plum Fairy and Jolene with Dolly Parton. Those are their three Grammies.
You might try how they started by covering the songs they did during the show "The Sing Off," a competition for a Capella groups.
Love your enthusiasm!
Pentatonix is the best A Capella group, but to complete the trifecta you have to check out Home Free "Man Of Constant Sorrow" and Voiceplay "Oogie Boogie Song". There is some overlap in the styles these three cover, but each specialize in a different genre.
PTX. S. Come along is great, their cover of Gold will amaze you and Daft Punk is a must see
