Got Sakura arms and it's totally my favorite. I've tried exceed, yomi, and battlecon. I totally think Sakura arms is the way to go. It's the most card gamey. The time between games in Sakura arms, where you add or remove cards to your deck, is just so great. It reminds me of games like yugioh where you can rearrange your deck between matches. This isn't found in fighting games as much, but can be compared to the moments between rounds where you have to really think about what changes you want to make to your game plan. The meter management of having flare come from either shield or life is amazingly awesome. Being able to reshuffle your deck is tight too. You'll get to see your whole deck in 3 turns so there isn't much to learn each game.

Enjoyed the video. The closest comparison is really Pixel Tactics (another great L99 game). Radlands feels like an updated/modern pixel tactics

yeah that’s another one too! Glad you enjoyed it!

Based on this video I'm actually even more excited for Radlands after watching gameplay of it. Definitely looking forward to the rulebook which they say is coming very soon.

      Yup. early waiting here too.

As soon as I seen Radlands I thought of the recent kickstarter for Sanctuary: Keepers Era or something like that (I've backed it).
Radlands looks really close to it. 3x cities/camps, lanes in front, water/crystals each turn etc.

    •  3 роки тому

I honestly was expecting more as cool as it looks, just not sure if it’s one I “need” to own

    • @Valkyriez_Gaming
      @Valkyriez_Gaming 3 роки тому

@ Thats fair. I don't own many games outside of LCGs, so this fits a spot for me for small box 2p game with little overhead of set up and teach.

oh, and i've read recently that the community tab of channels help spur growth, so try to create a pool on your channel. it supposedly helps visibility of your channel.

I totally did know about that, and now having read about it, will definitely use it! Thanks for the suggestion!

Android: Netrunner is my #1 head to head card game and nothing else is even close. The integration of theme, the gameplay, and way the asymmetry works are all top notch. I don’t really care for the competitive grind or never ending card collecting/LCG model. But for just sitting down and playing with a friend, it’s just sooo good

    •  3 роки тому +1

I’ve seen several netrunner sets for sale. If I had someone more dedicated(ish) I totally would...I’ve wanted to learn to play that game for a while

    Great topic for a video!
I like the way you are thinking outside the box, and your ways of bringing new perspective to the "table"..
What are your thoughts of "Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn"?

    •  3 роки тому

somewhere in the middle. I picked up a copy right after they announced the remastered edition because it was going for cheap. But I played it once or twice and it just was probably too much construction for me at this point. I think the willingness I have to do deck construction is very limited. I have marvel champions as well as Arkham horror LCG and that might almost be at my capacity. I think with any of these LC geez, you need to find the right one or two for you because I think for the most part they are all relatively good it’s just they are not all good for all people.

    •  3 роки тому +1

@@foyoGames that’s what I’ve heard, but I think the overhead is a lot more in terms of construction which is why I never really checked it out too much.

@ just get some quick games in...u have a limited amount of coins/mana ...1 max new coin every turn (u start with either 4 or 5 coins/mana). U pick the cards ur gunna add to your deck while your opponent is actively doing their turn. So limited coins, only so many options you have in a turn.

love the art in Radlands, i have BattleCon and am just overwhelmed with how to set it up. What about Yashima?

    •  3 роки тому

Hmm..Not sure about Yashima. I've only seen the art but know nothing about the actual gameplay. The art so far is both hit and miss with Radlands for me.

Combo Fighter FTW. But Redlands is a 10 out of 10. Oh yeah and Netrunner is the GOAT. And sovereign: Fall of Wormwood is really similar to Netrunner.

Exceed is my favorite on this list. Battlecon is great, but with all the rules changes and character iterations over the years, Exceed almost feels like the natural evolution of Battlecon.
Sakura Arms and Yomi felt needlessly complex when they should be much more streamlined and simple. Yomi has a FANTASTIC app on Steam. I think you can get the entire game for $15-$30. Highly recommended since it streamlines some of the clunkyness out of the table top version.

When I looked at the game it seemed lacking variety, doesn't have so many cards. It could be more balanced but more predictable.

It's hard to discuss head to head card dueling games without bringing up papa Mtg.

    •  3 роки тому +1

That definitely opens another whole can of worms/video/essays. It's too much open (in general though I know there are self contained sets to use) like Netrunner with deck construction prior to playing that I didn't feel like it was necessarily a fit comparison in this case.
