+LucchiniSW I was introduced to this universe with the Mass Effect 2 Intro. I think it's a tie. What they have in common is that it respects the classical principles of narration : A routine mission, then shit happens and the adventure starts.
Korounet Sorry but not even close. In ME2 you have no idea who you are, what you're role is, who anyone else on the ship is. ME1 Intro is by far the best. Short and sweet. And not to mention memorable.
LucchiniSW In my case, I played ME on PS3 so I started with the ME2 demo which covered the intro. I had a video that summed up ME1 so I knew who Shepard was and what was at stake. Plus the conversation between Miranda and the Illusive Man also aludes to your role in all of this. And if you already played ME1, the ME2 intro is really not hard to understand. The only thing you don't know is who's attacking you. Apart from that you see your love interest who calls you "Shepard", you see Joker and Pressly Shepard walking through the deck is epic, you see the first relay and all but in M2 you see the Normandy being teared to pieces and Shepard dying. It's really powerful. My favorite part is when Shepard go to rescue Joker. No music, you can see a planet through the damaged hull of the Normandy while everything in the ship is floating. I got a little carried away there :P but all I wanna say is the ME1 and ME2 intro both did great but aren't necessarily comparable as they served two different purposes.
They called it the geatest discovery in human history. The civilizations of the galaxy call it... Mass Effect What a way to introduce the game universe... We are not alone, and the other races take things for granted we don't even know about... And all that in three lines.... Goosebumps everytime....
As many times as I've played Mass Effect, that opening sequence always gives me chills. And as you see your Shepard walking towards the front deck when the music starts playing, gets me every time.
This is the first game I bought with my with my XBOX 360... I remember the first time I seen this scene... As soon as I started reading "in the year 2148....." I was hooked... One of the best openings in any video game, ever..
It was my first game too, and I completely get ya^ It was a beautiful thing to see on Christmas, my first Xbox and game Took my breath away from the second the title screen showed up...
This is absolute perfection. Not only the music evokes the feeling that you're in for a wild ride but supports the visual storytelling. Seeing the Normandy approaching the Mass relay and realizing the scale and scope of that thing.
It hurts because it was a "sad" ending. It was a great and shocking ending. I don't understand how so many people completely missed the point of ME ending . It's one of the most outstanding and well written endings that could have ever finished the series. People where asking for it to end like a Disney fantasy picture. That's just not satisfying. Bioware made an outstanding bet that led to an ending with deep emotional impact. It was very intricate and complex. An ending that utilised with great pertinence the mechanics of the game and the foundations of the various mysteries and myths that make the ME universe. Everything from the very first ME amounts to this precise ending. And it's an incredibly bold move than to let the player know through the consequences of his choices, if the one he made was the right one. I'm guessing people where just mad and frustrated to find out they where indoctrinated and that in fact they made the "wrong" choice, the one farthest from the protagonists nature. But that's how incredible it is.
This intro is awesome! Yes, the music is good, the presentation of your character is quite well given, the visuals are cool, but the thing that i found the best here is those camera movements, they're so cool, following Shepard, handheld-like, taking a look at all the crew before showing him from front, really original. It shows that the people who made this had a lot of good ideas and wanted to make the game looks as good as possible
God damn, 2019 and this intro still makes my hair stand on end, no words can describe how great this trilogy was, and still is. The words Mass Effect will forever be etched as one of histories greatest videogame stories.
Saints row and mass effect 4 life ME2 is overrated I feel. Dumbed down the RPG mechanics and had one of the worst end boss fights ever that had no baring on the story subsequently. The first one is still the best imo.
Absolutely correct. Me2 and me3 feel like some kind of remake instead of sequels. The optimism and utopian future along with the interesting and original ideas of me1 are completely gone
much of me1 was going around in mako. if we exclude it me1 was actually the shortest game of the three. i liked 3 the best, although i enjoyed citadel in me1 the most
