Hi Don! I really enjoy your videos! Would you consider making a video that compares different speed painting methods? You could paint the same miniature using various techniques (painting over white primer, slap chop, double slap chop, etc.) with the same speed paints and display the results side by side. This would help beginners understand the differences between the methods and choose the one that suits them best
Nice! When doing slapchop I always primed the mini in a fitting shadow color other than black - as I think that pure black is almost everytime a bad shadow desicion and just unnatural. But that double tech is so simple but yet so much of a Solution of that problem. Elegant and simple - love it. Subscribed
That orc tirned out great. Idk what people are complaining about. It's another technique to get stuff on the table to play. Bot every piece has to be a Picasso. Great work.
What about replacing the initial black primer, zenithal, and drybrush with just an off-white or light grey primer? If you use a dark enough initial coat before the drybrushing, it seems like you can get very similar results with fewer steps.
Don! This is so inspiring ! I have been using it/training on some board game minis but I am working up the courage to use it on my higher detailed minis! ❤
@DonSuratos No problem at all! Absolutely LOVE your work! Also, I seem to remember a relative of yours had a painting channel too maybe your daughter that I was subbed to. Could you point me in the right direction.
When using synthetic brushes vs hoghair or camel hair. Do you notice a difference when applying base paint if the brush leaves stroke marks. I water them down and use a ratio 1/3 and feel synthetic applying is smoother and i use animal hair for details
Do you typically thin the speedpaints (I'm using 2.0 and having trouble seeing any of the shading done with my drybrush)? You mentioned using the medium on one of them, I wasn't sure if that was 'in addition' to your normal thinning, or if it's unique.
Ngl, you make this look easy, ifu may ask. How aould you double chop a xenomorph like from romulus. Wituh all that blackish brown. I tried but it muddy :(
"But thats not Slapchop"! Thats what I was told when I posted your ultra marine video to a Facebook group. Your work is amazing, but it seems vitally important to some in the community to pigeon-hole Slapchop as a "basic" technique with so-so results and any improvements to the basic renders it not Slapchop anymore and, as I was told: "misses the point of Slapchop".
That's like saying fishing is no longer fishing because it was originally for survival and now for sport. Taking longer or getting a different result doesn't necessarily mean it's not the same technique IMO. I think people get too wound up with stuff like that! I'd argue that the base technique is still slapchop until we come up with yet another daft sub technique. It's like the difference between emos and goths! Does it REALLY matter if someone labels an emo as a goth or even both as 'rock' or metal heads. Who cares! Have fun and be happy! 😊
I know the story of why to this question but ..... does anyone know where to get kolinsky brushes in the USA? Your seven deadly sin set is perfect but no shipping, uuugggg! 😢
Hi 👋🏽 Medium adds transparency and slows drying time, without making the Speedpaint runnier ( unlike water ). Less runny means more control, more transparency makes the paints more predictable. Slower drying time, allows a longer window to blend edges. I have a video all about Speedpaint medium here 👉🏼 ua-cam.com/video/NPyNJerLG-Y/v-deo.htmlsi=0wSCY8Zw9p9r840s
That green came out amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Don! Love this video! By far one of my favorite orc skin tutorials! I will be giving the analogous colours method to my next slap shop model!

Great suggestion! i will do next month bro. I need to work on the Kickstarter tutorials soon! Cheers! 😊🎨🎨🎨
Great job ill have to try this sometime. Shout out to the Rooster in the background, he made sure the whole neiborhood was awake xD

Bro… you know your colors. I agree, totally agree with black as looking so unnatural. Specially on skin areas. 😊
Superb and you are turning slap chop into a real art form
Wow! Thanks man! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Bro, I did double chop on some flames today and it looked amazing. Thank you for showing me this technique!
Awesome man! Glad you are loving the technique! 😊🎨🎨🎨
That sounds like an awesome idea! I struggle a ton with flames.
@@mortcraft23 Flames are fun! They are just reverse layering bro. ☺️
The glare from the flame tongues looks fantastic - I thought it was real backlighting at first!
Thanks! Pardon I did not show in the video. I glazed with fluoro paints. 😉🎨🎨🎨
I like these videos please keep developing the technique and keep us up-to-date.
Thanks, will do! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
The ork looks nice with the vivid colors
Thank you! GrimPop! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Another great looking model. I just received the speedpaint complete set and I'm really looking forward to checking these out.
You’ll love it! Have fun! 🎨

Yeah I know! Fun stuff, right? ☺️🎨🎨🎨 And yes, not every piece should be high level of your goal is for gaming. ☺️
And now I know what I'm trying out with the beholder I just assembled.
Thanks, Don.
Beholder! Have fun bro! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@DonSuratos 🤘❤️
Again,awesome!
Thank you! Cheers! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
The orc skin on the + stage with OSL looks amazing for essentially a quick painting method.
Glad you like it! 😊🎨🎨🎨 I think will do batch painting next time. ☺️
Good video, slapppchop master
Oh no! No maater, just mister. ☺️🎨🎨🎨

The fire looks amazing!
Thanks! Sorry I did not show the painting of the flame 🔥
wow this is great. I was pondering something like this to try on some minis and this was super helpful!
Glad it helped! Now get back to painting. 😅
Don! This is so inspiring ! I have been using it/training on some board game minis but I am working up the courage to use it on my higher detailed minis! ❤
You can do it! ☺️
Thought I was already subbed! Must have been on my old account. Glad I've found you again 😊
@@NathanielGarro40K Hey thanks for re-subbing man! 😅
@DonSuratos No problem at all! Absolutely LOVE your work! Also, I seem to remember a relative of yours had a painting channel too maybe your daughter that I was subbed to. Could you point me in the right direction.
I haven’t watched much lately but that is a nice ork
Brother! Looking time no hear! Hope you are well man! ☺️
Nice work dude ☺☺
Thanks man! More to come! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
love your content!
I appreciate that! Thank you! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Thank you for your video! may I know if you can explain more about the part of colour choosing? ❤❤
Welcome man! Hmmm… I always discuss color theory in my PDF tutorials, but will try to make a video about it soon. Cheers! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
@ thank you❤️😋
Don, great job. But could you add the video about last step? :-)
The layering and highlighting after the double SlapChop?
@@DonSuratosYes! The part where pretty tabletop miniature becomes true art ;-)
What is the addition that you have on the top of your paint bottles?
What color you used for the end highlights. Is ist warpainter fanatic series or also speedpaint
All Warpaints Fanatic paints for the “plus” part sir. ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Hog hair is rough bro? Those are the oil painting brushes right? ☺️
@DonSuratos yes I prefer synthetic brushes with acrylic paints
@ Understandable bro. But never tried hog hair. ☺️

Not always bro. Usually I thin with Speedpaints, only if I find the particular color too saturated. ☺️

Yeah I got comments like that before. That is why I now call it Double Slapchop “plus”. People can be very amusing. ☺️🎨🎨🎨

Who cares, so weird to post this video to a Facebook group in the first place let alone actually care what anyone in it has to say lmfao.
People can be fucking stupid 😅
People are so attached to names instead of just learning things 🙄
I know the story of why to this question but ..... does anyone know where to get kolinsky brushes in the USA? Your seven deadly sin set is perfect but no shipping, uuugggg! 😢
Wait… no shipping to where?
I feel like smoother dry brushing would really help minimize the manual highlighting. Artis Opus style.
Agree… more time consuming though. I’d rather spend more time highlighting. ☺️
Out of curiosity why add speedpaint medium to a speedpaint??

Oh I forgot! I will! 😛
okay
🙃😂😅
