Great video, ! Well, I was pretty lucky because my purchases date back to 2010/2011 but I have a nice condo in a high-rise in downtown Detroit, as well as a nice contemporary home on a beautiful but smaller type lake ( 100 ft. Frontage all sports, immaculately clean ) in northern lower Michigan, and my total was about 450,000 for both. Now today would be much more, but Michigan is still far more reasonable and allows people to do things like this much easier than people on the coasts that’s for sure. I really love Michigan, best of both worlds for a reasonable price.,
To be honest it is cheaper in Michigan, I was looking to go more north towards Washington, but it can get pretty pricey there, all in all it's too expensive to live period, and if your by yourself it makes 3x harder, it's like you have to have a roommate, or be married.
Curious if you stick to the mid Michigan belt from Say Grand Haven to Detroit , I’m not convinced the 291k is accurate. In gr area 3 beds 2 baths decent schools …. $400 - $450k! Second. Most cities and some townships are 40 mills plus+++ or $8000+++ yr!!! That isn’t 1.38 % you said. The new buyer in Michigan gets screwed on property taxes. this isn’t reflected in your explanation.
Depending on the location? If you need to work, you will probably be living in an area where housing will cost you 500,000 or more. Those houses under 300,000 are going to be in more rural areas where there is no work. I hope this makes things more clear to People coming from out of state. You won't live in a safe neighborhood with good schools in SE Michigan for under 300,000.

Cost of living goes up when more people desire to live there, i.e good schools, good quality of life.
And people complain about Canada. That’s insanity!
I'm a Californian and lived in MI for 3 years. Nothing there but a bunch of drunks. HARRIS/WALZ 2024.......!!!!!!
