After spending over an hour struggling to refit the outer retaining band on our Panasonic machine, and on the verge of buying a £20 tool, I stumbled across your video. The secret is starting with the spring seated just above the door hinge, feeding the wire over the top and down to roughly 5 o’clock, then stretching the spring with long nosed pliers to feed in the remainder. It worked a treat and took literally a minute to accomplish. Other videos on UA-cam gloss over this part or show the final few inches of wire being levered into place with screwdrivers….with potential to puncture the seal or scratch the cabinet. Thank you so much and keep up the good work.

Great help! I succeeded in my first appliance repair. Wish I could have bought my part from you, but I'm in Denmark and Brexit means I would have had to pay duty. But wanted to try and offer a great review and hope you succeed in business, these tutorials are a game-changer for us average home owners.

Lee, thanks a lot for this brilliant tutorial. I've just finished replacing the door seal on my Bosch Classixx 1200, which is slightly different to the one in your demo. I'm a complete amateur, but managed all the same due to your extremely clear and helpful video. I hope you will not mind if I make a couple of observations that might help those with a similar machine to mine:
    1) The panel at the top that holds the control unit does not need to come off.
    2) The bottom panel has two retaining screws, both on the right, underneath the drain panel.
    3) After loosening the front panel but before removing it completely, reach behind on the right to remove a plastic fitting holding the door lock mechanism that slides onto the inside of the front panel - there's a wire harness that attaches it to the machine, so this needs to be removed before taking away the front panel completely.
    4) When reassembling, remember to slide the door lock plastic fitting back on before replacing the front panel - two cutouts on the panel mark where to position the two plastic tangs to ensure it's at exactly the right height. Then replace the two screws that hold the lock onto the panel - this prevents it falling back into the machine. Then you can go ahead and replace the front panel with confidence.
The above may sound complicated, but it's actually pretty easy !
    5) As mentioned by others, the final job of replacing the spring-loaded band that holds the seal onto the door is tricky. A good tip that worked for me is with one hand to use a pair of long-nosed pliers to pull on the spring, thus loosening the tension on the band and making it much easier to pull/push back into place with the other hand.
    Thanks again, Lee.

This worked, thanks. Took me about an hour but I guess I saved £100 call out. My model has screws in slightly different places but the basic principles with regard to the seal removal and refitting were exactly the same. Thanks again.

Good video just a few tip that others might find useful. Mine was a Bosch too but a few more screws to undo for the front panel removal but all pretty obvious. Good idea to unplug the door switch so that the front panel can be removed and not strain the wires. I could do the inner seal without removing the weights which is as well as they looked to be tricky to remove in my case. Getting new seal on was a lot easier when the it was smeared with fairy liquid both for the drum and front panel seal. Also it was easier to get the spring on with 2 pairs of hands.

First things first, thanks for a great video it helped me to replace the door seal on our AEG Lavamat 64810. After carrying out this job I have a couple of tips that may help others. If you have to move your washing machine on a vinyl or lino floor get some hardboard to slide under the machine and then you will find moving easy and you will not damage the flooring (that should please the wife). Be prepared for rusted fixings so have a small socket set available as well as your screwdriver. When fitting the door seal to the drum section I found spreading some washing up liquid and even more important letting the seal itself soak in some very hot water, this helps to stretch the seal into place easier. Thanks again to Ransom Spares, I purchased the seal from them of course, for such a prompt service. Good luck

I have just ordered a Bush door seal. Hopefully, the replacement procedure will be similar. I have to do this twice because I have got two washing machines with same problem. Was too lazy the first time so quickly bought another but this time I will surely try this out.

Hi, I've just fitted a new seal to my Indesit machine after it started leaking from under the door aperture. New seal and spring clip from Ransomes. The machine is still leaking from the front during the wash cycle. The Old seal had no rips or splits but figured it was worn. Now I'm thinking it must be leaking from somewhere else and showing itself at the door entrance. Any ideas ? Thanks.

Hi Lee, I have a Bosch Classixx 5 ( the model you are working on in the vid.. ) and the bearings are propably gone. Now I've checked how to change the bearings and although an extensive job I think I'll get it done exept from one thing... the tub inside this model is put together without screws and seems completely glewed and sealed only. Any idea or tips to work around this part of the job ? Thanks for all your clear vids !

You cannot separate the drums on many modern machines as they are moulded together to save on screws.
When the bearings have completely gone it is basically time for a new machine.
Older machines had drums that were able to be separated but modern have welded drums and welded front panels too.

Once again an unnecessary strip down I see this so often and people often cause themselves problems and can’t undo screws so round them off. This seal can be changed in around 4 minutes without this silly strip down. Also once again like all these idiots he’s demonstrating on probably the easiest machine to change a seal on. None of these guys ever pick a hard model to demonstrate on also the fact that there are so many model variations that are all different. Please stop following this crap, it’s an absolute joke.
