What's Missing from Las Vegas Strip Casinos | Checking Out 3 LOCAL Casinos in Henderson NV

- On my solo trip to Vegas, my friend Teresa took me and her Aunt Helen out for a girls’ day of gambling in Henderson, NV. We checked out three local casinos: Emerald Island Casino, The Rainbow Club and The Pass. Located in The Water Street District, the 3 little casinos are within a short walk of one another.
Emerald Island is definitely my favorite of the three, though we didn’t spend as much time in the others. Advertised as Nevada’s only all penny casino, I was excited to try my luck on Video Poker and slots. We also ate at Emerald Island Grille, a delicious (and award-winning) restaurant inside the casino and the only 24 hour restaurant in the Downtown Henderson Nevada area. The free coupons I earned for gambling as a new club card member came to good use for both breakfast and lunch.
The Best of Las Vegas / Las Vegas Review-Journal awarded Emerald Island with the following honors in 2021. Gold: Best Breakfast, Gold: Best Henderson Restaurant, Silver: Best Coffee Shop & Diner, Silver: Best Local's Casino, Silver: Best Henderson Casino, Bronze: Best Paying Slots, Bronze: Best Video Poker.
All three casinos offered a homey atmosphere, had friendly staff members and plenty of slots and video poker variations to keep my interest. The overall vibe gave me a glimpse of what we’ve been missing in Fremont Street and Las Vegas Strip casinos. They had regular promotions throughout the day, offering lucky, random winners the chance to win various prizes including free play. The coupons they offered were easily earned and useful. The employees, especially at Emerald Island, were welcoming, friendly and helpful. And, they walked around at various times of the day offering free treats!
I can’t wait to go back and explore more of what Henderson has to offer and to experience these 3 hidden gems with Chris. I know he’ll love them as much as I do.

Absolutely! I hope they haven’t ruined the other casinos for me :) We’ll always love the strip but, come on, FREE treats, regular promotions and delicious, inexpensive food? That’s tough to beat:)

I read online that one has a frozen beverage station that is free to players! Ugh! I should have done my research. Next time :)
My wife and I visit Henderson regularly. We have never been to the Strip. Both Emerald Island and Rainbow Club feature excellent video poker payables. We've won enough times to make playing video poker lots of fun. A host will come around with treats at both casinos. The food at Emerald Island is tasty and inexpensive. The music is classic rock, no obnoxious rap or hiphop---thank goodness.

Free....I am hanging onto Free - but first I gotta/getta watch the Cat Dance! Love it! I have been to Emerald Island Casino it had a cool atmosphere. Those are some cool Coupons. I gotta go to the Emerald Island and get that $21.99 New York Strip...yum! OMG! I love ice cream! Especially Blue Bunny! Free Brownies too...so cool! Love it! This was a very fun video!

Hendersons only, all extortion casino ! , watch those points, they have the right to take those points away from you at anytime, for no reason at all, it's happened to several people at emerald island and rainbow casino, if your smart, play elsewhere, the owner acts as if he's doing you a favor by letting you play in his casinos.
The funny thing is, they blocked me on Twitter, that makes no difference, I have several phones , the owner doesn't like anyone to ruin his scam, he advertises 25 , 50 and 75 times points, but have no fear, they may all be gone as soon as the owner feels he doesn't want to honor them, sounds like a dead beat casino operator to me.
So sorry that you had a bad experience. All of the staff members at Ellis Island were super friendly and helpful. Of course, we don't really play enough to be too concerned with points. And, because we're not local, it's unlikely that we'll experience this issue for ourselves. We do plan to visit these casinos again and hope that the second experience is the same as the first.
