Hope you find the video helpful. I had shore anglers in mind when I made the video. I have another video on the channel with a lot more detail about navigation and route plotting. I also said the shoreline doesn't change.... it does due to erosion and in some areas that's quite significant.
Thank Phil, adding to my phone really worthwhile app for anyone fishing shore or boat. will come in handy with finding suitable locations for parking and fishing as I have mobility issues. New Sub, been watching you on Gordons videos.
Hi there Robert, I remember we had a 'chat' over on Gordon's channel - you have the Mayland Fastfisher 16.6. You'll find this App handy on both the shore and boat. I covered some of the navigation and passage planning on an earlier video.
Great informative video Phil, Navionics is a great app and a must have for anyone trying to find new venues or just have a better understanding of local areas👌thanks for sharing buddy
@@fat_tommo_goes_boating Good call on the paper charts. I have Imray charts etc in the boat box as a just in case. I'm 'old school' and still like to look at paper charts and maps for winter planning for trips.
Very good old chap, I've been looking for a chart system for android devices, my marine navigator one is years out of date. Thanks for the video. 😀😁😀👍👍👍
Thanks. When you have relief shading overlay on, the dark / black areas on the chart show where the depth increases rapidly. Have a look at the Carrick Roads Cornwall. The red is the shallow 3 metre area and black where it quickly drops off to 30 + metres in the main channel. That's as I understand it.
Hi, Marine charts show the LAT (Lowest Astronomical Tide). It's the lowest depth at 'reasonable' meteorological conditions. So, what you see on the chart you need to add the height of the tide for the given hour. Best to check the tide tables for that. Hope this helps.
Hi thanks for watching and commenting. There's both a free version and the subscription. For me the saving in wasted fuel, bait and lost tackle from fishing the wrong marks makes it worth the subscription.

That’s a great tool Phil, I like the satelite images, very well explained thanks for sharing 🎣🐟🐟🐟
Thanks 👍. Very handy to have the App on a smartphone as a back up - just in case other plotters aboard have issues.
Great informative video Phil, Navionics is a great app and a must have for anyone trying to find new venues or just have a better understanding of local areas👌thanks for sharing buddy
Thanks. I should have mentioned in the video how Navionics had also helped in our fresh water Scottish lochs showing the depths etc.
FINE BUSINESS AGAIN!!! CHEERS FRM HERE!!!
Thanks, Navionics is not just for boaters. Shore anglers either sea or inland will find this app useful.
Very good video Phil, that ap should be very useful for shore anglers like you said, Thank you mate,
Thanks James. Good luck in your next match wherever that maybe. You've been getting some good weights recently.
@@anotherangleUK i fished a match and did very well mate, the video is out at 4-15 today, Thank you Phil,
@@jamesatkinsfishing Looking forward to watching your video later.
Loads of great information Phil, very well presented too
Thanks Tommo, what system to you use on your boat?
@anotherangleUK I have an old garmin plotter but use nothing else electronic.
I do have paper charts too, but don't look at them much.

Glad I could help. If you're also wanting the navigation features I made a video about using those here ua-cam.com/video/pywAucyPhNw/v-deo.html Phil
Watch out for the large lifeboat sliding down that jetty - its the RNLI station
Thanks for watching and commenting. Well spotted, I'll keep that in mind if I ever get to fish that area. Phil.
Great info Phil very useful for shore fishing too
Thanks 👍. I did another video on Navionics for boat anglers - included a lot more about the navigation features. Does Scottyano have Navionics?
@@anotherangleUK yes I use it regularly I take a tablet on the boat it’s a brilliant bit of kit. I will check that video out Phil👍

No problem, hope it helps, Tight lines Phil
Are the maps showing low water or high water depths do you know?

@@anotherangleUK Brilliant thanks so basically spring low tides then.
You've got it. 👍
Navonics' recent annual subscription price increase has made it unaffordable for many.
Hi thanks for watching and commenting. There's both a free version and the subscription. For me the saving in wasted fuel, bait and lost tackle from fishing the wrong marks makes it worth the subscription.
It's not free just a 15 day free trail
Thanks for letting us know it's now only a 15 day free trial. I've had my subscription now for five years as I also use Navionics on the boat.
