  • I love searching for new rocks to lure fish from and stumbled accross a new mark. It's a low tide mark and I got there a little late and the swells were bigger than I would have liked, while lure fishing for cod, limiting my time on it. I still managed few fish and found that some new lures I hadn't tried, worked well.
    Hope you all enjoy👍🎣

      @@MarkSmith-yk7ig Thanks. I spend my time coarse fishing now at places where I can park right by my swim. I don't put myself in danger but I get the exercise packing and unpacking the car. There's always shore fishing from a beach but I just love wrasse fishing.

    Greetings from Pembrokeshire. Always look forward to the Sunday SL video drop. Happy to report that there are indeed Bass in Wales - nice ones too! 😁👍🎣 Great tip about scouting out the ground with a metal before sacrificing precious lures. Have also been fishing new ground but had more success on top-water lures so stuck to those. (Patch ghost 100 and Momo ultima pink 100). Hard to find fishable ground here with many steep cliffs making access impossible. Tight Lines sir!

      It's lush down there, went down for the Pembs Bass Comp last year and loved fishing the area. Hard access but the beaches fish really well after dark. I had a 62cm and my mate won with a 69cm from Freshwater East. Metals from the beach and albie snax for after dark! Hope you had a good trip!

    Another great vid, I find that oyster catchers are worst for attacking my drone. Was fishing Montrose area last week and found dead gannets on shoreline, didn’t find any fish! Glad to be back home catching again! Wish I was 20 years younger to explore those rock marks. Keep up the good work.

    • @SlippyLimpets

      Yeah they definitely are. As soon as the drone goes up they're normally there attacking it in pairs. Thankfully there aren't too many around those rocky shorelines I fish. • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  2 роки тому +2

      It really depends on the mark your fishing, one mark could fish well on the ebb while one 50m away could fish well on the flood. Best thing to do is spend a lot of time at one mark and learn when the fish are biting, then move on to the next and do the same. That way you'll build up a list of marks that fish in certain scenarios and can go fishing at the right place at the right time and catch some fish. Hope this helps👍🎣

    You might want to consider using a heavy bolt or a bunch of washers to do your feature finding, put the weight on a rotten bottom to avoid wasting your line. Thinking about it, even a pebble with a hole drilled in the top weighing an ounce or two would do the job then there’s nothing to rust in the sea.

    I live local to Arbroath, I do cod fishing in winter but wondered if you could help me with cod fishing in summer, as in what sort of ground are you looking for? Kelp? Deep/ shallow marks, open marks or gully’s? I’ve tried marks that work in winter with metal lures but unfortunately not getting anywhere, thanks

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  2 роки тому +1

      From my experience the cod come to shallowe water in the winter, but they tend to be in deep water with a hard bottom and a load of structure or kelp in the summer. I look for a clearing between the structure/kelp and cast to that. A bit of crrent always helps. Most of the marks I fish are between 6 and 18 m. Hope this helps and tight lines

    Shame about the gannet, sadly a victim of bird flu no doubt. A pathogen which can survive out of the body for around a month in near sub zero temperatures. It’s part of the reason it’s so virulent. Then you see on the news about dying shellfish around Teesbay area… Tough year for nature along the NE/Scottish coasts.
