this girl seems sweet, but she really needs to work on her self-esteem and stop getting with guys who clearly take advantage of her- emotionally and financially.
$18,000 upside down in car payments makes my belly hurt. I work in Southern California and my coworkers who make the least per hour, drive the most expensive cars in the parking lot. They are high school grads and minorities (Mexican, Filipino, Chinese/Korean mostly). How they can afford these $900-$1000+/mo car payments is that they live with many family members under 1 roof and pay no rent or mortgage. They work 12-hr days, 6 days a week and have no retirement savings accounts either. I wish they could all come on your show and get your advice. You're doing a great job, Romain.
Thank you for sharing your story, I have also made mistakes on previous car purchases too :( What car do you drive and how old are you if I may ask? Give me more information I am interested about your case? and Thank you for the kind comment :)
What she described is not financial abuse. Financial abuse is if someone is taking control of your money and controlling how you spend it. For example, taking your salary and making you beg for money. This woman is giggling way too much for someone who’s on a show talking about money issues. She needs to take things more seriously. She’s earning a good amount of money per month but just doesn’t know what to do with it. Also, that’s so disrespectful to be living at home and not paying anything towards household expenses.
As a Dutch person, I totally feel you on the amount of eating out Americans do! Although I must say that ordering food in can be almost just as expensive and is for sure gaining in popularity in my country as well.
Ordering food to your house is definitely more expensive. Id order and pick up Though after watching these channels i try yo eat at home more lol And so far this week I've only eaten out once!
I’d love to see this super sweet gal get counseling for her self esteem. She is a sitting duck for predatory behavior from men. Sadly, there are such men that look for her level of malleability & go for the financial jugular. I really appreciated how she listened and was respectful. It’s easier to watch, as I so respect Romain’s valuable advice.
Yet another great episode! Yes her situation is dire, but luckily she's young so hopefully she can make some major changes! I love that you always include a little "fun money" because I think that's very important psychologically. A little feedback: I think she could've benefited from an explanation of compound growth. Obviously she's far from being able to invest, but I think the idea of your money multiplying can be a great motivator. Keep up the top notch work and I'm certain your channel will grow!
Thank you very much for the kind words and feedback ! I take note as I am considering my recommendations in coming videos. I think you will really like the video that is coming out in 2 weeks! The money case is purely on the component around compound growth ☺️
And yes for the most part I always include some, maybe not much wants (aka fun money) as it has proven to provide the best debt relief outcome and keeps the individual engaged in the process rather than doing a 100-0 instantly.
Yes at 22 years old I bought myself a brand new mustang (stupid decision), tuned it to go drag race, and 3-months later (car was brand new) I blew up the engine! It hurt :(
Even if she’s living with mom, she should be paying something….she’s a grownup, not a child. She needs to get rid of that ridiculous car. Seattle has great pubic transportation. Even if she takes a loss and rides transit for 6 months she can be debt free.
First thing she needs to do is get the best and biggest debt consolidation loan she can at the lowest rate.Next call that person who she gave a car to and tell them to refinance the car in their own name or shes gonna repossess and sell said vehicle. Pay off debt by working from 30 to 60 hours a week. Shes stuck with that damn Camaro unfortunately.
Also, I can concur on the health insurance part... I had been admitted to the ER in December 2019 and was in there for 6 days with tons of tests. Coming out with a bill of around 52k, luckily they cut in half for a "deal". And spent the next year and 3 months working 12 hours every single day (literally) besides holidays. It's expensive, but worth every penny. But them deductibles though... jeeeeeez
Thanks for sharing your experience and I am glad that it ultimately worked out for you! Health Insurance is Key in the US I can’t stress this enough :(
Talk about being upside down on a car. 😮 She’s young, makes good money and seem like a good person. If she can buckle down she can have a bright future.
They sure made a big deal about 95k being really high miles. That’s absurd. 200k perhaps. The implication I guess is thst you need to buy newer cars with low miles. I really didn’t understand that part. I have a ‘17 Civic Si with 93k mi and I wouldn’t consider that a lot of miles considering most modern cars will go 200k easy and some 300k+
It depends what you are looking for, the sweet spot is generally 2-3 years, still under warranty as a certified pre-owned, and with about 30-40K miles is the best bang for your buck if you are looking for fairly new cars without paying the large first year depreciation.
I am confused on how you get annual income of $68,500. She reported 4,000 a month, at 12months is $48,000 a year. I find that sometimes incomes are estimated a little high with you and other UA-camrs I follow. How did you calculate for such a high income?
Absolutely no problem, very fair question - Lexi makes $4,000 Net per Month. I assumed a 30% Tax Rate, that means she makes about $5,700 pre-tax or $68,571 per year.
@@danielford2369 Hey Daniel - I hear you, and trust me I am very familiar with the different tax brackets. Because of this individual income fluctuations I decided to go the more conservative route. My model does run an annual salary calculation against updated tax brackets but I often give myself some slight leg-way to account for each individual case.
His style and the type of guests he brings on is completely different than Caleb… his budgets are different as well and Caleb has no money case segment. @@haleysmith6208 Very true. I'm anal about finances, and can feel my anxiety level rise with some of these stories. I worry that someday Caleb is going to stroke out with some of these people.
This lady does not know what the word financial abuse means. She is making herself look like a victim. To be financial abuse means one person holds all the money there for they call all the shots. The other has no escape or power because they have no income. You have all the money. You at any given. Moment can leave. Also who pays another person bills that your not married. That goes for any boy and girl. If your not married you dont pay that person's bills. Your not legally obligated or morality nor spiritual.
OK, Lexi, so unfortunately your parents did not teach you how to handle/manage money. BUT, you can read, you have access to the internet..TEACH YOURSELF. I know it doesn't seem important when you're so young, but you will seriously regret ALL your bad financial decisions when, and your WILL be, 60. Good luck, sweetheart, but I'm so hoping you take this extraordinary opportunity to LEARN. Be the WINNER, Lexi, not the loser!
This girl is in deep deep trouble. Luckily she is young, single, no kids, living at home. She should be working minimum 50 hours a week, more like 60. Double the income and pay this stuff off. Then pay off the car. I don't see how she can get rid of the car. She's $18K in the hole at least. Add $10K to get a good used car since she's a woman and won't turn a wrench. Now she's at $28K. I think she's better off keeping it, taking care of it and she should get at least 200K miles maybe more since she doesn't live where they salt the roads.
I have a 2000 dollar e-bike and it’s a handful of things that go wrong with it almost everyday And it’s not cheap to fix So I can’t even imagine how people are struggling with loan debt of any kind or cars or boats toys etc I LOVE my 2000 dollar e-bike but she’s a handful lol Anything that goes wrong at all I have to get it fixed lol With cars you don’t necessarily have to be ocd about maintenance lol
You have financial problems but only work 30 hours a week?...most americans think they work pretty hard doing 40 hours a week wich to me is basically a part time job..😅😅😅...!
She paid 45,000 dollars for a 2017 camaro They wanted to make some money lol Man…you can buy a brand new car fully loaded for brand new for 46,000 dollars … Ouch…you can get a Porsche cayenne turbo lol a 911… If you want a Camaro tht bad be prepared to be underwater

Oooh I feel her pain with the love blinders and financial abuse 🥲 it's unbelievably common, especially with older people and women. Cuz when ur a woman so much of the house stuff falls on you, and when ur working then the cost of all that living gets on you too...
