  • Sometimes we cannot use a Tap or Thread chaser to clean out bolt hole threads when they are full of rust and trash. Here is a quick tip on how you can clean them without having to go buy a tool and simply utilizing the same bolt to do the trick.

You made a tool...kind of misleading. Not everyone has cut off wheels for bolts either.

My search of how to fix a bolt hole on my BMX crank spindle lead to your video, my problem is the bolt won't line up or another word couldn't grap the thread, bolt size is 3/8' 24 TPI, the bolt is new and go in to the other side no problem, look inside the hole is very clean so I suspect just the first thread or 2 damaged, I don't have a older bolt so I would go by a taper on line, then something confuse me when there are 3 type of taper, 1, taper starter, 2, bottom, 3, intermediate, which one is the right one for me if the bolt hole just damaged a little? Thank you!

If the bolt hole is damaged a little what you can do is also grind the bolt from the tip just a little to where you cone shape the start of the bolt and that should allow the bolt to enter a little further into the hole and should help with lining up and cleaning the threads. Also push in firmly very very straight as you slowly thread the bolt in

@@EddiesCustomsandRestorations Thanks Eddie, it is not the bolt, it is the female thread hole like in your video, the bolt is brand new, went in the other side of the crank spindle no problem. Much appreciated your reply.

@@patriot0919 oh sweet! Glad it worked out for you! And yes I understood, I was just saying that by cone shaping the nose of the bolt would help the bolt enter a hole that has some issues ofcourse also making a slit on the sides like I did to clean the threads in the hole also all at the same time. And yes ofcourse! I do my best to respond to everyone so if you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, I'd be happy to help.

@@EddiesCustomsandRestorationsI am bit slow and now I totally understood that even the bolt is new, the point is to cone it to guide in to the rough edge of the thread hole, haha, genius, my mind was stack into that thread hole....thanks Eddie again.
