  • In this video Peter McLeod explains the basics of tides and how flats fishermen can utilise them to their advantage. He covers the basics of what makes them tick, how to decipher tide charts, using that information to find intercept points on the flats, how different species prefer different tides and his own tidal preferences.

Excellent video thanks i learned a lot! I also work on the shore driving piles and its very helpful to know that in a 24 hour cycle there are 2 high tides and 2 low tides and of the four there is a high high and a low low tide

I totally understand what you say, I was a NE surf fisherman, I could use this info in the SE, but I'm now living in the west coast of Florida {Gulf} and these tides have no scheduled high or low, they vary way too much from day to day, could you explain how to figure these out? thank you, Paco

@@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing thank you, I'm usually pretty good at following tides and this really has me stumped, I'm told it has something to do with the Gulf waters itself, but I felt that there should be some kind of consistency, but thank you for your time and if you ever have a moment....check it out.

4:18 I did some research on that and it seems that the gravitational force is larger during new moon. A bit confusing.

@@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing It was well explained. Also, nice to see that you are thinking about how these processes intertwine to form a good days fishing.
