    You Should come to West Aus and go to Dirk Hartog Island and ningaloo, the west coast(my home) is very underrated and i would call it one the best fisheries in the world. Dirk Hartog has everything from Gts and cuda on the flats to sailfish off the rocks.
    Ningaloo has amazing gt, bonefish, permit and especially cobia(40kg+ on mantas) fishing.
    You should come some time!

    Thank you very much for this video! Great Info as I am preparing a trip to the Indian Ocean. I always have been using floating flyline targetting blue fine Trevallies and GTs. Though I cauht many Blue Fine Trevallies, GT are harder to catch... Do you recommend floating, sinking or Intermediate Flyline for the Flat and the Reef Edges? Thank you and have a great fishing year!

    Thank you Peter for another great and instructional video!!
    Regarding rods, what do you consider a modern fly rod? I mean, will a Sage Motive fit into that?

    Hi Peter, please do a review on the River Salt Patagonia Danner Boots when you can, I'm super keen to see how they hold up against the flats environment. Thanks for all the great videos!!

    if you are running 130-150lb mono leaders how do you avoid losing your entire flyline or part of it because it is only a 50lb core?

    • @AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing
      @AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing  Рік тому

      Pray….. no, in all seriousness the heavy mono is not for breaking strain but for abrasion resistance. These fish tend to head for the nearest coral head to take you through which shreds anything smaller. Yes, we do snap a few lines from time to time, but if you are not straight sticking the rod gives enough cushion to reduce the pressure… sometimes you don’t have enough time to get an angle on the rod, so that’s when things tend to end badly…

    more budget orientetated gt reel? good line and sealed drag preferably

    • @AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing
      @AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing  Рік тому

      Hi Josh, there are many good reels on the market these days, but when it comes to GT fishing you really need the very best you can afford as if there is any weakness in the drag they will find it. The Shilton reels are probably worth a look…

    can you provide a link for the shirts with built in Buff's - the breath fog thing kills me and have been looking for just such a solution

      Casey they used to be made by the company Gillz clothing, but I am not sure they make them any more. They do have excellent masks though that have mesh in them and prevent fogging…

    Can you get away with a 9-10WT is that probably the minimum for GT 's

    • @AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing
      @AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing  2 роки тому

      I think a 9# is a no no, 10# is pushing it, might work on smaller fish… danger is if a decent sized fish turns up a 10# simply does not have the stopping power, especially if you are fishing anywhere near the edge of the reef… I like an 11# as a compromise between power and ease of casting, but if I know I am going to be in the surf line always a 12#..
