Indian food is some of the tastiest and most complex on the planet. It’s made up of thousands of unique dishes with unique regional variations and others that are specific to certain states and cities. It can range from street food to more upscale variations. Come along with me as I dive into the world of upscale, Michelin star winning Indian food in Manhattan, NYC!
For this food adventure, I linked back up with my friend Marina. We would be dining at Junoon, a Michelin Star-winning Indian restaurant in the city! They got their first star in 2012 and continued to get one for eight consecutive years!
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/stores/davids-b...
We chose to dine outside. They made me a strong masala rye that contained a lot of amazing spices. I’m not a big fan of hard liquor, but this was really tasty! They also have a massive wine menu with over 200 varieties. But we were hear to eat!
Our first dishes were the masala pork ribs and the eggplant chaat, which is crispy eggplant with tamarind, yogurt, and cilantro. The masala pork ribs blew my mind! They fell apart in my mouth and were very easy to eat. I loved the masala barbecue sauce on it.
The eggplant chaat was crispy, sweet, and refreshing. It was unbelievable! I love eggplant and this was a unique take on it! We followed that with some mango lassi. It was nice and thick and cooled down my mouth from the spice from the ribs!
Next was the East India gin and tonic, which was garnished with a paan leaf. It was unique and refreshing! I’m not usually a gin guy, but this one was great. It didn’t feel so strong!
Then, we had tuna puchka and tandoori octopus. The puchka contained raw tuna, onion, tomato, and caviar. The pani contained cumin, coriander, mint, black salt, and cilantro. It was the best pani puri of my life!
The tandoori octopus was smoky and tender and very enjoyable. Junoon is my top Indian restaurant in the world now!
We started losing the light outside, so we moved inside to try the mushroom and truffle khichdi, which is a mix of rice and lentils with an elevated presentation. It was like a light dal and I loved the earthy truffles and mushrooms. It was heavenly!
Next, Marina tried the Mumbai Margarita, and then we jumped on the Tellicherry Duck, which is sliced thinly and placed on a tellicherry pepper sauce.
We also had nadru mattar makhana, which consists of lotus root, green peas, and onion in a tomato sauce; zaffrani zucchini pulao; and Junoon naan stuffed with gruyere and paneer and sprinkled with za’atar.
The Junoon naan with the duck was unreal! I loved the coconut in the curry and the tender meat. It was truly outstanding! The pulao was also great. I loved the saffron and raisins in it!
For dessert, we had a mousse made to look like a cricket field! We also had Ma’s Rice Pudding and kulfi pops. My saffron kulfi pop was really nice and light, like a cross between ice cream and sorbet.
The kheer, or rice pudding, was light and creamy, and not too sweet. It also contained almonds and banana. The cricket mousse was a game changer. I loved the coconut. It’s so easy to eat and so unique! It was the best way to end our meal!

This restaurant became famous because of Chef Vikas Khanna. He is one of the most renowned chefs across India. and has cooked for the POTUS and for the Indian Prime Minister as well. He is originally from Amritsar.
I was wondering I hv heard this restaurant name before, thanks for sharing this info. Yes indeed Vikas has made India proud.
I don't think he works there anymore and he isn't the owner I believe, that's what it says on the website, he was there from the beginning and the restaurant earned Michelin Star because of him but he doesn't works there anymore.
Chef Chintan Pandya of Dhamaka was also the executive chef of Junoon during 2017 and later started his new restaurant again, Ruhi. You can see the his influence in creating/finalizing Eggplant chaat, similar to what he came with up at his first restaurant, Dhamaka.
P.s You can search chintan pandya Dhamaka to know more about his working nd thinking style in kitchen/restaurant.
@@thegibberishsinger Thanks for informing.
He's the chef that worked with and impressed Gordon Ramsay during Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon is one of the people that supported Khanna's rise to a michelin star Indian chef.
I love the way David introduces indian cuisines to his friends and family. I can feel his genuine love towards indian food. We miss you in India David. Visit India soon. Love from Assam. ❤️
Indian parents in Michelin star restaurant:- itne se platter mein pet kaise bharega 😂
@@videohub9521 😂😂😂 so true.
@@priyadarshanigogoi5152 maybe that's the reason why this fine dining isn't famous in india
@@videohub9521 i don't think so...there are rich people like Ambani in India too and all the celebrities. They go for fine dining I guess.
@@priyadarshanigogoi5152 yeah true but as I am from middle class so we prefer like dhabas or hotels that serve meals rather than cuisines 😅
I like todays guest David brought. She is energetic and joyful. Smiley face makes every 1 smile.😁

Thank you so much

So often it seems Michelin Stars=Small portions... but this looks AMAZING *AND* has some great sizes! Indian food is some of the best in the world, I bet this was AMAZING!
All truly upscale restaurants serve small portions.
Small portions because it's usually 3-12 course.More courses smaller portions.
@@arizonad8012 No it isn't "usually" -unless you order those extra courses and pay for each of them.
@@emilybh6255 Yes, but no one is going to go to Michelin Star restaurant and order one course or 3.Most people will order at least 5.Did you ever visited any of them?
@@arizonad8012 I've been visiting French Michelin Star restaurants and French American and since I was little in the 1960s and 1970s. My parents loved taking us to gourmet restaurants. At the most we would have a drink, appetizer, entree -which sometimes came with vegetables and or a salad, and a dessert. But sometimes we just ordered an entree and dessert or maybe just an entree with our drinks. The entrees were never huge and the appetizer and desserts were even smaller. The idea was to taste new flavors of food we ordinarily would not have at home. I've never been to an Indian Restaurant that ha a Michelin star however.
David, your love for Indian food is so genuine! Loved the way your friend was also so appreciative of Indian food!
Food looks like the way you and your friend ate tells me you enjoyed every thing beautiful place friendly staff 🙂 thanks for sharing David
Yes sir so good!
Thank You David for promoting Indian food.

Great table layout, terrific dishes, and amazing hosts.
This food and the presentation looked absolutely stunning. Probably the best among your videos I watched. Happy for you.
Best food Junoon all the way. Thanks for covering David ❤❤
How amazing! Watching you have a good time makes me so happy! The dishes looks so well presented...
That looks absolutely incredible. I have no words
This was just awesome ❤
Wherever Mango Lassie scenes, David's dialogue be like" Mango is national fruit of India" .. but missing in this video.
Big Love from India ❤️ .
First of all thank you David you always promote indian🇮🇳 food🍲... Love❤ from assam...
Food looked amazing, but I don’t think I can afford it 😬!
Obviously you can, avoid 5 star hotels like most of us😂
There are hundreds types of Indian street food and budget friendly hotels available in America...
Michelin star restaurants are very expensive. In NYC you need to carry 12-15000 or more $ with you.
me too bro...can only watch
Salivating over all the dishes ,,I’m seeing…. Now I know what “ eating with eyes “ means….😋😋😋😋😋😋
I love the way how Michelin star restuarants just fool around and present the hybrid dishes as if they are authentic ..... You need that confidence in life 🤣🤣
Seriously, they pimped the humble khichadi. 😂
Dude Michelin star restaurants are also rated in recipe creativity. You cant just stick in some street food for it. I'm sure anyone eating Caviar Panipuri, doesnt expect Caviar to be Indian.
@@prasvasu4217 yes yes! I've been to a few... Thats what I'm saying ... The peculiarity is what I like. They murder the recipes, but in a good way. I just laugh everytime at the fact that we pay shitload of money for something creative 😂😂
@@vedantathavale5171 I am totally agree bro...the original taste is 100% pure and it touches the heart. How much you fantasize panipuri...but the best will always come with patato masala filling which is original. 😊
@@rahusphere lol, I was hollering over , who the fuck puts mushroom and truffle in khichdi, My mom barely even adds oil or ghee
Gr8 to see Junoon food. Reaaly upclassed Indian food
Bring your cousin & brother back 😍 wanna watch them again!
presentation of dishes were🔥
Junoon is the most unique creation of our ❤ Chef Vikas
The food looked delicious I have never tried Indian food but it will be on my list
Thank you much for the video.
Indian food is so diversified from North to South & East to West. Food as well as dialect changes after every 100km or so.
This is not typical Indian food. It is alot of fusion (mix of Indian and other) food. Try the straight Indian food before doing fusion. You will understand and appreciate it more.
Wow! that's joy at another level. Thanks for sharing the video.
Hey Bro...a lot of respect and love for your work and representing Indian food. The way you explain it bring water to our mouth.Missing the real Indian street foods in US.
I like this combination. She is a good company to have food with always smiling and energetic. Do more with her
Well thanks David for showing this place... its definitely on my bucket list.. And it was pleasure to see such a wonder company along you. Regards to the lovely jolly lady.
The food looked awesome, I wanted to get on plane fly there from Canada to experience the food,, 😀

That Tandoori Octopus looks amazing. Should pair well with the G&T. The Caviar and Tuna is just next level decadence.
David, your Guest is Adorable 💜🤭
Most amazing food with the best presenter with his girl friend. The presentation is the best I have ever seen or heard. Outstanding. Only 100 out of 100.
Omg one day I just thought why haven't you been to Junoon till now & here is the vlog,,,
That's one refreshing luxurious video...😍😍
Hey David! Whenever I see ur vlog, m always craving for food 🥘
Very nice way to prepare food and great presentations 👌😛
I loved this video as I always prefer fine dine. Such a beautiful restaurant. I must visit it. Fine dines are not extremely spicy ,but have fantastic balance in the flavours. That's what I like....less chillies, classy flavours.
Good to see you with INDIAN Dice man , Really lots of love 💞❣️ from INDIA

Love your content !
Wow you’re more knowledgeable on Indian food than an average Indian is. So impressive. Can’t wait to try this restaurant out🥰 Thank you for this.
Happy to see you enjoying Indian food bro...👍👍👍
Indian food is easily the most diversified food in the world, in terms of spices, desserts and fast foods as well
What a presentation. Superb.
Chef Vikas Khanna is a gem , master of fusion culinary . Met him once in Dubai Junoon years back and then also Eggplant chat was their highlight .Zombie from the cocktail , mutton kebab and desert made out of beetroot was yum .
This Restaurant owner is Chef Rakesh Bharadwaj...not Chef Vikas Khanna
@@shamikas5443 Not sure of the brand owner but Junoon Dubai was started in 2015 and Vikas Khanna was the chef there . He used to cook for the guests twice a month then and it was a good experience altogether.
@@sreejithchittezhath9368 thanks
wow what an amazing restaurant!!!
That was awesome restaurant discovery in NYC.
The Michelin star you mentioned is Chef Vikas khanna who also cooked at white House and he is originally from Amritsar India . We indians are proud of him.
Divine food. David!!!
It is very classy Indian food, fresh, clean and delicious.
Today's guest is the best. So energetic. Making us all smile ♥️ bring her again
Just seen your video, absolutely love it..just subscribed... love from Fiji
Great video loved it
I love and respect the fact that that indian restaurant really represented almost all of India cooking styles to the courses, idk but seeing the food being presented with the wood plat reminded me from the north east really blew my mind cause the nagas really use wooden plat with high elevation support
David I must say I loved your and your frns experience of junoon throughout. I'm huge fan of Junoon's owner Vikas Khanna and I'm a vegetarian however your reactions got my veg mouth watery 😂.. good one bro..keep up 👍🙌👏👏
