The proper way of eating south Indian food:
You guys must have plate for more traditional taste you guys have to use banana leaf as Plate
Place the main dish and Pou sambar and chutneys near main dish
For each bites you to dip it in all and eat

I am a South Indian! Just go with Sambar and Chutney together for both idli and dosa. It goes really good.😋
But the coconut chutney looked plain. Not sure how those restaurants made it. We have to give them home food. They'll go bonkers
Since everyone is complimenting how great you guys look together and how sweet your friend is, so I will just compliment how good that resturant is I can tell just by looking at the food that it is pretty authentic South Indian food...Now my mouth is watering I'm out of here.. 😁😁😁

Asofetida and tamarind is the main ingredients in resam which make it unique. ❤️
God it feels so happy to see Marcello just explode with joy and his giddy actions tasting the dishes. It's sure to fill any heart with pure happiness its such a treat. And on the topic of the ratio of chutney or sambar to dosa, I would recommend as said your instincts but a better way is to see how strong their individual tastes are since sometimes I just drench it in there if I don't feel like tasting the batter or just touch it because the chutney is too strong

Mix the tomato chutney, coconut chutney and 1.5 parts of sambar and try that with the dosa/vada/idli/uthappam. That's how we South Indians love the dosa/idli.

One small thought (and I know you know this too😉).. the food shown in the second half of this video (aloo chaat, tikki, masala papad, lassi and samosa) are NOT South Indian... But we love them too as ours...

North cold region and the staple food is wheat, which is "heat".
South India is hot region so we take Rice - which has "Ice"😁😁😁🥰🥰
