These do work better in an above ground pool or a non-concrete pool. I have an above ground pool and the unit I bought is amazing and has already paid for itself with not having to buy chlorine. I wish they had these 20 years ago.

Hi,.. sorry to hear you have had problems,.. I was inspired by your 1st Video and have made a similar piece of kit utilising a water filter unit,.. my problem is getting big enough pieces of copper pipe here in Bali and so using small diameter air con copper pipe but it dissolving in about 5 days... am now looking for 20 mm dia copper bars now that I know it really works,... cheers bob

Hi, Thankyou for the reply, as the weeks have passed the water is looking better, very clear, but the only problem now is there is too much copper in the pool😁 last year I used 2 pieces of 15mm diameter copper pipe 30cm long , when the electrode dissolved it was enough for the pool, this time I used double the amount as I said in the video but it is too much, so there is more staining in the pool, it's ok I can drain the pool a little and refil it to dilute the water but it is something to bear in mind, my pool is 35000 litres so just one dose of copper as mentioned above is enough..
      Regards

Hi, I kinda thought that closer the better, but of course not too close as debris that falls from one of the rods my block the gap if it were too tight..
Trial and error really but you will see a fizzing when it's working.
      Cheers

Is this safer for liners in above ground pool as you mentioned there are copper break ups pieces in the pool

    Hello there.
    I will try it in my own pool system. but I have a few questions;
1- Pool water copper level should be at the level of 1 ppm. Do you measure the copper level?
2- How many days does the copper electrode you use run out?
3- You just said that there was not enough copper level with solar panel. How long does it take with the battery to run out of copper electrodes?
4- Do you keep the energy on for 24 hours? or do you use it at certain hours?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

Hi Thank you for the comment..
When i originally made the ionizer last year I just used a single dose of copper, what I mean is I used the unit until one of the electrodes were eaten away, this seemed to be a good dose for my pool, the electrode(copper pipe) was 30cm long 15mm diameter and my pool is 35000 litres.
There was minimal discoloration on the edge of the pool hardly noticable and my pool stayed clean for the entire season.
I used a solar panel and of course this only worked during the day and took around 5 weeks for the copper electrode to dissolve.
This time around as said in the video I had an issue with algae, the pool had been filled but I had not used any chemical in the pool for a while so the pool became green, very green.
So I decided to give the pool an intense treatment of copper, so i used a laptop power supply and hooked this up instead of the solar panel, this of course ran for 24 hours , after around 30 hours the copper pipe had dissolved, the pool was clearer but could be better , so i fitted another copper tube and repeated the process with the laptop charger, the results were great, very good, so effectively I had given the pool a double dose compared to last year.
I have now noticed that there is too much copper in the pool, it is of course not dangerous to humans but the discolouration is far greater..
so as a rule of thumb I would suggest the pipe sizes should be ..
15mm diameter copper pipe and then for 10000 litres use 10cm long pipes , for 20000 litres use 20cm long pipes and as I did for 30000 litres use 30cm long pipes.
In conclusion if your pool is pretty good but you have an algae issue then use a solar panel with the pipes, this will be fine and will of course work during the day, if you have a lot of cloud cover then perhaps use a laptop charger but take care of course when using electricity near water..
I will post an update video soon
      kind regards
      marc

      @@myturkishlife1777 Hi
Thank you for your answer. I made slow oscillation with solar panel in order not to have too dense copper. because pool companies say that copper is harmless. but it can accumulate in the liver and brain. So I fixed the ph value at 7.4 with ph lowering in my pool. and I bought a test kit to measure copper in water. I will use chlorine if needed. The laptop power supply can increase the copper level in the pool with intense insulation compared to the solar panel. I will measure the copper level with a test kit and try to keep it at 1 ppm. for your information . have a nice day.

Could you heat the copper over a flame and use it to melt its own hole in the plastic container?

  • @holyholo1

I believe solid copper rods would work much better because these pipes will degrade very quickly also I was thinking you need only one copper rod and the other should be some metal for example zinc rod or a zinc wire that spirals around the copper rod. So over time you replace the copper rod that is modular

Hi, I think any laptop charger would be ok, but to be honest, if you can just use a solar panel as I did in another video it would be better and it would release the copper slowly over a longer time period.
However if you need to clean a green pool then yes go for the laptop charger..

      Hi, I just had a look ..
      It is a 19volt and 2.37Amp
As far as wattage I remember you times the volts x amp ....
      45 watts ...
There is very little current draw so if the charger is around 19 volts it should be fine...
The solar panel I use is 20 volts ..
