Someone reversed into my m4 whilst I was in the gym. I watched them out the window managed to get the reg whilst they sped off. Literally spent the next 2 days scouting for it. Found it in tesco car park 👌 made them pay for it at a bmw bodyshop
I feel your pain about the damage. Had the same happen to me 3 times in 2 years. So glad I bought a dash cam, one time a guy dropped his motorcycle against my car while he was filtering through traffic. He picked it up and took off. Got his numberplate on video and went straight to the police. Insurance eventually took care of it.
People like that need a well weighted hammer taken to their hands, in addition to having to pay for any damage. Would be a surprisingly good deterrent.
saw a mineral grey m2 with a huge mess all the way down the size, looked epic, haha! Unfortunately working in the motor trade I now can spot a bad one a mile off, but to be fair seen some good work from chips away. Looking forward to more videos with M25 OMP
I had Chips Away over to fix a scratch on my M2 Competition today. They did a great job! I can’t blame anyone else though it was me reversing into a nail sticking out of a post so my own fault. Glad to see you got yours sorted
I took my 440i to get a front bumper repair at Parks BMW and as you say they took the bumper back to plastic and did a full respray. It was in fairness a fantastic job but cost £540 which seems excessive but at least its been dine right. The other downside was that the car was away for 4 days.
well lesson learned never park your car where people have to back out and possible hit your car...i never park my car that way for that reason. good vid
I was made aware a little while ago that these blend in jobs do not last eventually where the blend has been done will show, but I don't know if that is true or how long before it shows. I would have thought for not much more than £200 you can get the bumper properly painted. At least you've got your car back looking like new!
Hi Joe, where did you get your steering wheel trimmed? I have an alcantara wheel from when I bought the car but its starting to look a bit worn now. Thanks in advance.
I was looking at the new M240i but have decided to go for a well-kept secondhand M2 Comp instead. I don't do a huge mileage so I will have to live with the thirst. My last M car was an E30 M3, so the M2 will have big shoes to fill.🙂
Good to know it can be done in either the 240i or M2. Cheers all! This is one of my main car buying criteria, I dont like using bike racks or roof bars especially for longer trips and this is a topic very rarely mentioned in reviews! M2 and 240i now added to potential next car list 👍🏻
Real talk tho, what was that C1 doing 🤣 glad the car got fixed up, great vid as always Joe. It’s interesting what you said about the gearing of the manual M2 comp. My 230i will do 2500 rpms at 70mph in 6th gear also so I guess it’s geared similarly to an M2 comp, just with a much lower total output but I’m pretty sure the m235i and M240i have substantially longer gearing which is a bit strange considering they sit in between.
Just out of curiosity, how often do you change the oil and what is your preferred brand? Obviously, BMW's shell-produced PurePlus/GTL formulation is great, especially the M-specific 0W-40 (very limited availability in US), but do you prefer other brands?
3:38 they miss the bins and hit your car.....Obvious solution: should've ordered it in Fire Orange! 😂 RE auto vs manual, I agree with you 100%, the only way for me to feel fully engaged whilst driving is with a manual, but from a purely mechanical aspect, the new auto boxes are so reliable, you'll replace the clutch 2-3x (regardless of what type of driving you do) before the auto requires any substantial service. I like the tone of this vid, very casual chat, enjoyable countryside views. nice one. 👍
I've used Chipsaway whilst I'm over in the UK short term, for less than £200 the franchise guy did an AMAZING job on the painted surface and also painted bumpers (which are harder to match & treat) you literally can't tell that there was anything there before he did his work I would highly recommend them to all.
Chips Away traditionally have done a great job for me. Shame that happened to your M2 though. It’s happened to me in a past and it really winds me up how people can do that and drive off...! Mad.
@@JoeAchilles1 Nice ! If I get this car, good to know that I can drive to the mountains with my 29er in the back and have fun on the way home too. Thanks
Watched someone in a brand new Range Rover Sport SVR scrape their front bumper on a VW Transporter as they left the office yesterday. Made a real mess of the SVR. Dread to think how expensive the repair will be.
Great video as always Joe. I used chips away last year. Don’t know if anyone else found this but I was a little surprised to learn that a lot of these mobile firms had switched to “paint-less” repairs only. I was equally as impressed with the finish chips away achieved. Looking forward to that track edit boi! 🤘🏻
TRL is a top bloke. Bought two cars from him and he's always my go to choice. As you said Joe. His after sales is top notch. M2 comp should weigh anymore than an M240. So i think you have a point Joe.
I did not know that BMW used the Dakota leather on the M2C seats! Quite a disappointment... still a lovely car though. Even when considering current alternatives like the 718 cayman, the Alpine A110, and just like the M140i in its prime, it’s the only one with 6 cylinders nowadays...
Yeah it is a pity, I had even considered getting some alcantara stitched into the inside of the seats for more support... Agree re the 6 pot, love my 6's :-)
The Alpine seems to be a very precise and nimble tool and I know for a fact that the dynamics of the Cayman are great but it is hard to compensate the lack of cylinders! Thanks for sharing your content and making me buy an M140i almost 2 years ago now ;)
My M2C certainly doesn't "feel" 200kg heavier than my old M235i! Whatever the weight, it hides it very well indeed with brilliant chassis and suspension set up.
Hey Joe, great Vid as usual, after watching your videos for a while now I brought myself an M135😀. I was just wondering where do you get your fuel from? Are you V power only or wherever is nearest!
Ahh great to hear James, hope you're loving the M135 :-) I try to stick with Shell 99, but don't get to bothered sticking in the odd 95-97 when I don't have the option... Cheers
