Small correction, Aurora is made from 2 hallucination, 1 chambass oil, 1 benezine and 1 stimulant. If you take any of the other ingredients out of the box you get your pay docked.
The whole justification to keep using because the doctor said you could go 2 years using Aurora and be able to get clean is totally something an addict would do. Making crazy justifications to keep using or to wait until a later time to stop is all part of addiction. Great storytelling. Just from that part alone I could tell you've probably experienced addiction directly or indirectly at some point.
To be fair, the doctor says you aren't looking well regardless of, well, anything. Go in dead sober at peak health, he'll still say you're in bad shape.

Tbh the addiction mechanic is amazing. It behaves a lot more like real life addiction and you do end up making choices you shouldn't just to deal with the problem until you can cure it. I think it'd be interesting if there was a mod that removes all addiction cures so you have to use the drug to stave the symptoms off, see a doctor, or feed the need.
Next build i will do is a drug lord that sells aurora in enormous quantities and call him heinsenberg. He'll specialise in ship building and science, making big ass outpost to produce aurora more efficiently.
The only issue with the lore video is the fact that the game simply wasn't programmed for sea creatures to spawn that far away from key spots. Also, they are fish, so in reality the only reason for them to be so close to the surface on a water world when near the city is because they are probably enjoying easy to acquire food that falls off of the city platform while the rest of the world they would likely be significantly deeper eating wild plants/other animals.
Four Chasmbass under Neon still isn’t a very good sign. Assuming you are correct as the Sharkwhale can dive, it doesn’t change the fact you only get ONE flask of oil per Chasmbass and it’s also implied by the carcasses the older/bigger ones are rarer now as a result of overfishing.
@@NefasQS The real question for me is why is the fish narcotic the only usable for the drug? I find hallucinogens on all sorts of animals on tons of planets.
Chasmbass oil may have a particular property that is favored for the effects of Aurora. While you could manufacture something similar with different ingredients, you have to take into account cost of production and logistics like transporting non-Volii Alpha materials or creatures then setting up new facilities or processes to handle that. Additionally, it wouldn’t be surprising if people demanded for a ban on said off-world materials for a variety of reasons. Currently Aurora as a finished product is banned but the materials for it actually aren’t as evident by the fact that Chasmbass oil is not considered contraband. If Neon depended on off-world materials then that’s a weakness Benjamin Bayu wouldn’t like. Lastly, if people were to try to demand a halt to the fishing of Chasmbass that will have bad PR because people clearly depend on the species for a source of protein + job creation. Lots of parallels between our world and Starfield’s for sure!
@@NefasQS part of my last comment was more on the fact that it's true I couldn't make Aurora without the correct oil but a lot of animals you kill do have 'hallucinogen' as the resource you get from them, sometimes in bones and sometimes even in scales and such. Your comment about crabs disappearing from the sea isn't entirely accurate. It wasn't just snow crabs but also king crabs that massively disappeared. Also, there is no consensus on what caused this since it happened so fast. The scientific community generally agree overfishing could not have led to such an immediate drop. Right now it's still a complete mystery. There's theories that maybe ocean temperature change caused them to migrate but it's all still conjecture. The international communities are still trying to solve this as it's very likely they migrated somewhere else and didn't just disappear.
the reason why no chasmbass are found beyond neon is because you're technically not allowed to land anywhere besides Neon in Volii Alpha without exploits.
makes more monetary sense to genetically modify a rapidly reproducing small fish like a minnow to secrete the same oil instead of harvesting what look like the equivalent of sharks.
So I'm not entirely sure how much we're going to add the skills and other stuff into this but I'm going to count them because it actually makes sense. If you get your animal skill up high enough you can get anywhere from 1 to 4 oil from 1 fish. And I'm just some random person that dived into the water and scraped it off of their skin. They probably got some kind of machinery that's capable of way more efficiently getting a lot of oil from one fish. Ultimately it doesn't change many of your points but it does make it slightly less awful I guess?
I wish there was a questline where you fight the corruption and decadence of Neon, the setup is there, just the writers of Starfield have no imagination
Its pretty friggin bad man, one use and youre addicted, i cant remember anything in fallout getting you addicted after one use, youd have to abuse before your character got addicted.
I think you're reading a bit too much into the low spawn rate of fish on Volii Alpha especially as it's the only thing that would point to overfishing. The devs likely just didn't think anyone would go swimming off into the distance and as you can't land anywhere on the planet except on Neon there's no reason to set up any procedural generation of wildlife. Or for a more in-universe explanation: The name of fish implies it lives in the depths of the ocean and the only reason you can find them by the surface around the platform is likely because the platform provides a source of food. The industrial impact of such a comparatively small fishing operation as Neon would be negligible on the fish population of an Earth-sized ocean world.
The drug aurora in the game Starfield is lackluster at best. This is due to Bethesda’s PG middle school dialogue writing and emotionless voice actors. What I would’ve liked to have seen was a lot more dark content like crackheads on the street telling you their space ship broke down and they just need some credits to get fuel to take their family home. Maybe some homeless dudes zonked out in back alleyways.
Bro what is funny the fact people call it a drug and it looks like a food coloring and people are like that looks good and i feel its great in game but i know for a fact that would cause some people irl to do drugs if they did it because of a game thats sad but honestly in starfield i made 8 million credits by making a mega aroura factory lol its works like a charm in game
I honestly wish they made it more like Slo-Mo from Dredd, because the whole point of that is that it wasn't addictive and didn't have any negative side effects, like LSD in real life, just that bad people used it nefariously, yet the authoritarian government policed it heavily out of fear for it. Aurora feels like it's *trying* to be Slo-Mo/LSD, but without any of the message behind it. It's just a boring hyper addicted chem that the governments of the Settled Systems are correct for policing so heavily.

If you get your animal skill up high enough you can get anywhere from 1 to 4 oil from 1 fish. And I'm just some random person that dived into the water and scraped it off of their skin. They probably got some kind of machinery that's capable of way more efficiently getting a lot of oil from one fish. Ultimately it doesn't change many of your points but it does make it slightly less awful I guess?
oh god, Yannick has adoring fan's face... i can't unsee it now
Dang i didnt even know they build in an euphoria and addiction mechanism .
Aurora is just Starfield Acid and or DMT 😂😂 also what fit is your character wearing?
Toad licking brethren: Assemble!
I love the Todd Howard flashlight
We should get a quest to cripple or destroy the Aurora production in Volii Alpha! But Bethesda being Bethesda...
No no you had it the first time… We do love our skooma and aurora
I wish there was a questline where you fight the corruption and decadence of Neon, the setup is there, just the writers of Starfield have no imagination
Lol buddy, look at real life, people fight corruption everyday and nothing if ever changes, has nothing to do with imagination.
Destroying everything for pleasure. Seems exactly what we do right now.
I smuggled it off Neon, and the Trade Authority only paid 100 credits each. Sad
bayu just living the dream
Its pretty friggin bad man, one use and youre addicted, i cant remember anything in fallout getting you addicted after one use, youd have to abuse before your character got addicted.
What’s that suit you have on it looks dope
I always thought it was some kind of space weed 😂😂😂
i guess i can take a spin on the aurora quest line..
It's funny to me but the doctor they're on neon sounds exactly like the guy locked up at the UC prison In the basement
I wonder why the seas of Starfield don't swarm of sea life. I need to land on two coastal biomes to scan eight forms of sea life.
13:30 what, a rich person who has everything he wants, still grabs for more power? Le gasp, say it isn't so!
I wonder what happens if you kill Bayu beforehand
How do you get this quest? Is it from Undercover for Crimson Fleet Faction?
My edgelord instinct is telling me that bayu needs to go, and its time for a new governor.
How this suit you are using is called? It's cool.
The colors man, the colors!
It´s sseing the image of Todd Howard whenever a flashlight is used another effect of Aurora?
3 seconds in, and i already liked the video
This is why the UC is a superior interstellar government. Long live the UC!!
Wish i could eat sammich through my hazmat suit
What armor are you wearing in the intro? And how do I get that???!
Do the Neon gang sidequest and side with the Strikers.
