Hi there! I think I'm a few months behind you with TSW. I stopped using them in Nov. 2019. The most helpful thing I've done is get a hydrometer. I was using a humidifier, but the hydrometer showed me that I wasn't using it nearly enough. I was able to increase the humidity in my home environment from 30-35% to 55-60% and it has made a huge difference. My skin is not very flaky anymore, and the air is a lot gentler on my skin...not so painful and exhausting. Good luck to you!
missfitandnerdy you are my online positive women role model. I like how you take charge in your life even when it's not positive. keep up the good work I never been more motivated in my life and I want to thank you for that. have a good one!
I’ve been meaning to comment this on your videos for so long, but I’m really enjoying how you’re editing your videos these days, some of the zooms and stuff make me laugh so much 😂
Hear hear Marisa! Thanks for being open and honest about the struggles of chronic/invisible illnesses. We need more folks like you talking about your struggles to overcome the stigma associated with them.
Self advocacy and self education is the biggest positive I take from my auto immune disease. Resilience is up there too. I’m sorry you haven’t had better luck with drs. You are clearly intelligent and willing to put the work in. Those qualities will help you achieve the most out of life with auto immune diseases. Ty for spreading awareness. ✌🏼
Yes! Being your own best advocate is so key to getting through chronic illness when doctors dismiss your symptoms over and over. It’s very frustrating but you learn to stick up for yourself
I've only recently found you and I totally appreciate and empathise with your strength. I have not dealt with this but my entire life I've been in and out of doctors and waves of bad health without much help or answers. It's expensive, stressful, and can be so frustrating depending on the health professional (which are usually just doing their best)! You are one strong cookie and after a huge rest I've found that exercise is even better after flare ups where you just have to CHILL. Not fun but the body is better off. Thanks for sharing your journey, you are not alone!
Ugh so sorry to hear you’ve had about as much luck with medical professionals as I have... it can be so frustrating to be going to people who are supposed to be able to help you and heal you and they have no idea what is wrong and don’t seem interested in helping. Best of luck to you!
Wishing you all the best. I cannot imagine what you are going through. I am so disappointed for you regarding the consistently unhelpful doctors. I am a veterinarian, so not a people doctor...but an every other species doctor and I have also had terrible experiences with my own doctors which makes me so mad as a healthcare provider! In general I think people are more willing to advocate for their pets than they are for themselves, which I think may be why I have learned to never be dismissive of people's concerns since they will go OFF in defense of their furry babies. You know yourself best and you are doing an amazing job of advocating for yourself and taking care of yourself.
Oh man, I've been a fan of yours for a while now, but quit watching bc I got sick, laid off, and broke up with the love of my life, which made my auto immune issues worse so I had to give up working out. Drs don't know wtf is wrong and keep brushing me off with "it's probably just allergies" which is frustrating. It's been tough, but then I got back to your channel and was like holy shit! If I can offer any advice it would be to make sure you are your own best advocate for your health. Don't take no for an answer. Do your own research and don't go back to doctors that are less than helpful. You'll find answers eventually and a doctor who can help you!

You are doing great! Lately I went more into performance psychology and MAC protocol (which is mostly about mindfulness that I know you are aware of but also explains a lot of things like gym being your (or my or anyone's) happy place that helps you disconnect from thoughts and problems. If you look for new books to read and areas to explore I find performance psychology is something that fits your profile and I find it less fluffy than many other psychology areas because it is aimed at demanding, highly skilled individuals who won't take bs and want to perform better in their chosen field - and if you choose the right protocol it also enhances your day to day life through the same methods. I think a lot that you're speaking of in this video is really well explained in these textbooks (the one I just devoured is for practicioners but hey intj thirst for knowledge won't be satisfied with fluffy bestseller sports psychology books). You're doing great Marisa, hard as it is.
I know the feeling... I had chronic nail psoriasis for two years and when it was at its worst I honestly felt like it was ruining it life. It sounds so insignificant but my fingernails were crumbling off and were red raw and sore all the time, the simplest tasks like buttoning a shirt were impossible. I did eventually heal but it was a very slow and painful process. Looking back now I struggle to see why it worried me so much but I know at the time how awful it made me feel, plus as a flight attendant my grooming and personal hygiene were very important to me. Anyway I guess I'm trying to say I empathize with your situation and one day you will look back and be proud you made it through :)
Marisa you are soooo lovely and such a wonderful person. Beautiful inside and out. Some days will feel like you just want to scream or break something but it’s just part of life and there will be better days. It will not always feel like this.
Love that it seems like your chocolate guy prepares for you to come lol. I've really been enjoying watching your journey. I can't even imagine how difficult it has been, but you just seem so strong and you are a HUGE inspiration.♥
Lately, I've been having skin reactions to Gluten (I assume getting tested next year) and man, I have been living no aveeno oatmeal lotion and allergy pills working hard to avoid steroids as I've had to use them off and on for years. Being itchy sure does suck!
So sorry you’ve had a tough time recently. I appreciate your very real perspective on TSW and managing your skin, I’m the same with stress flaring my skin. Also feel you with carrying food everywhere, if I go away I always have loads of bags not filled with clothes just filled with food! 😂 hope things get better for you soon!
I didn't feel you were negative, but I'm an empath and I get it. Hang in there Sweet Cheeks🥰 Oh BTW I absolutely adore when you FF>> the mouse voice....it makes me instantly happy🐭🤗
I'm sorry to see you're in a bad place right now it hurts my heart to see others struggle, have you read medical mediums celery juice book I feel the information can greatly help you heal, do let me know. God bless :)
I’m sorry about your struggles... I know there isn’t anything I can say that would magically take this away from you, but when future-you looks back on this bump in the road, you’ll be even stronger than you are now ☺️ is there any way you can slowly work in small workouts (other than walking)?
I was planning on slowly going back to exercise this week but due to the stress I flared again and couldn't. But I'm hoping that once I've healed from this flare, I can slowly get back to the gym!
Years? Will you not be able to workout at all till you heal? I can relate, I don’t have a chronic illness but I haven’t been able to workout for a few months due to a hernia, the gym is also my happy place :( I appreciate you not wanting to complain but I think you should vent, we’re not just here to watch you lift or eat, we’re here to support you :)
The doctor said it would probably take me 3-4 years to heal. Some people take 1 year, some take 6, few take even longer. I plan on going back to exercise as soon as it doesn't hurt to move haha. But right now my skin is so dry that it hurts to bend my knees and wrists. And sweating makes me really itchy so it isn't fun.
MissFitAndNerdy jeez that sucks. At least there is an end to it, as hard as that is to see right now. You’re hella strong and one day you’ll be telling us all about while deadlifting :)
Life has a way of teaching us many lessons. Wait till you hit your 70's. If I could offer you anything from someone with chronic illness including celiac it would this. You need to go on an elimination diet. For me it was meat/fish basically animal protein, no eggs or dairy, and salad of lettuce, olives, cucumbers, onions, and olive oil. Definitely no root or starchy vegetables or nightshades. No sugar or anything that can turn into sugar. Do it for 2-4 weeks and see how you feel. It's not fun but it helps so much! I feel so much better. I add in new foods slowly some I can handle some I cant. I learned nightshades, fruits, and egg whites are big triggers for me. Good luck.
@@MissFitAndNerdy That was the first diet I followed as well, but I still had issues so I tried other eating plans for my autoimmune diseases and stomach problems. You might want to try a more severe elimination diet for a few weeks. That's what it took for me. That's the only way I felt better and figured out what foods I was sensitive to. No root or starchy vegetables or nightshades, no sugar including fruit or anything that can turn into sugar, only meat & salads(lettuce, olives, onions, oil oil) for 2-4 weeks then you can slowly add in other foods. I added in goji berries and my body started aching so that was a no-no for me. Same with tomatoes. When a person feels bad enough they will try anything that might help.
@@mememo3764 This is topical steroid withdrawal though, it isn't an autoimmune response or any food triggered response. I'm just following AIP to reduce overall inflammation but I don't have any food triggers other than banana
Yes! It was super helpful when I had my first flare 10 years ago. So when this started happening I went back to acupuncture and it didn’t help at all :( tried two different therapists and nothing
MissFitAndNerdy aww man sorry to hear that. I am on my own journey newly diagnosed with Gastroparesis so having to eliminate foods myself and find your videos helpful

Girl how do you talk to a camera when you're out walking without getting phased by other people? I can't even vlog in my car without feeling weird haha. I need a chocolate guy. I'm sorry to hear you and your family are going through some stressful stuff :C Big hugs for all of you! I've felt that with having a chronic illness (I have asthma) or issue (I have an extra rib, lol) is that sometimes we end up knowing more about it than the doctors do. It gets kind of frustrating when going to a doctor should help you but instead it's just a waste of time. I have an extra rib, and I have costochondritis because of it. When I was "diagnosed" with the extra rib, my doctor didn't even tell me about costochondritis. I found out thanks to google. Everything I've found that helps me relieve some of the pain has been through my own research. I feel like I'm always going to have this issue, unless I get surgery to get the rib removed lol. It's frustrating, and sometimes I feel very alone with this issue too.
Haha I’ve just SLOWLY gotten used to it. I still can’t vlog in crowded places hahaha. And I’m so sorry to hear you’ve had a similar experience with medical professionals. So many doctors appointments have been a waste of time. It gets frustrating after a while
It’s topical steroid withdrawal. I used topical steroids for almost 10 years. Then my body developed a tolerance and I had to stop using them. Now I’m going through withdrawal
It would make sense if this were autoimmune but it’s not. I’ve cut out a lot of the most “dangerous” plant foods and I’m healing a LOT faster than expected so I think I’m on the right track :)
I just watched the video you posted on your eczema. You NEED to look up a young woman named Makayla Peterson and what she did to COMPLETELY STOP her autoimmune issues. Please at least look her up and listen to what happened to her. This is FOR REAL the one thing that could change your life!
You could say long term illness instead of chronic. I think doctors are pretty much a waste of time unless you break an arm or need stitches, basically emergency room stuff only.
Hey😊 maybe you could could do some calisthenics? I mean I know exercise is "stressful" for the body but... for some reason I just feel like you need more physical outlet than you are getting. Hear me out. You buzz with energy.... literally. So when there is no outlet for it, sleep is difficult, stress is increased and it can have a huge negative impact on the body's health. Maybe no heavy weights, but just body weight and some isometrics. I know you're working with a professional that you trust, but knowing everything is not possible. As someone who deals with the body stuff that's atypical I know l don't always listen to the signals because I am afraid of losing progress. Sometimes it's 2 steps forward 3 steps back then a pole vault forward! weeee! Just wanted to give you my 2 cents. It's ok if you don't agree...😉 Thanks for being so open and vulnerable, most people wouldn't do what you do! Happy Holidays!!
Because of my skin, it hurts just to move. Bending my knees and my wrists is painful. And sweating makes me itch like crazy. I think my body would benefit from some exercise as soon as it doesn't physically hurt haha. I'm going to start with light cardio as soon as I can.
I grew a tolerance and they stopped working. Also they have some pretty gnarly side effects aside from the withdrawal. I don't want to have to depend on a prescription medication with heavy side effects for the rest of my life
@@MissFitAndNerdy That makes sense then. Definitely if you're taking prescriptions, the benefit should outweigh the side effects. I hope you find something else safer that works. 🌹
@@MissFitAndNerdy I never see you eat meat at all but I could be wrong. There is a connection with skin disorders no.1over exercise and sweating, no.2 masturbation, no.3 excessive sugar intake will not keep zinc in the body. Yea, when you do these things, look for the flare-ups. Also, zinc repairs our gut lining and keeps bad things out of our bodies. And anyway with the topical roids withdrawal zinc should help balance your hormones too. I have psoriasis and tried everything and found that the only thing that works is food grade peroxide and zinc gluconate and the other so-called western medicine creates more problems than it helps. Humara = fingernails and hair falling out like the movie The Fly with actor Jeff Goldbloom.
You must have never seen a single one of my “what I eat in a day” videos... which is basically every other video hahahah. Maybe just check out what I actually eat first
Hang in there! You are strong, both mentally & physically, and such an inspiration to me and many others 🥰

It gets frustrating after a while
how did u even get this chronic issue?
It’s topical steroid withdrawal. I used topical steroids for almost 10 years. Then my body developed a tolerance and I had to stop using them. Now I’m going through withdrawal
Have you tried all animal based? Skin condition healing seem to be a common positive trait.......
It would make sense if this were autoimmune but it’s not. I’ve cut out a lot of the most “dangerous” plant foods and I’m healing a LOT faster than expected so I think I’m on the right track :)
MissFitAndNerdy Good luck, hope you heal quick 💁♂️
I stopped drinking coffee too, what’s that, that you are drinking??? In that a little paper bag???
Its chicory root! :)
If you can make the gym a happy place nothing can stop you :) xxx
Yeeessss!!!
I just watched the video you posted on your eczema. You NEED to look up a young woman named Makayla Peterson and what she did to COMPLETELY STOP her autoimmune issues. Please at least look her up and listen to what happened to her. This is FOR REAL the one thing that could change your life!
Believe me, I’ve looked into everything :)
MissFitAndNerdy Good luck to you and love you’re channel.

@@MissFitAndNerdy I see... yeah that's rough love! Best wishes on your road to wellness!
DID SOMEBODY SAY CHOCOLATE?!?!
hahahahah yeeeesssss
Why doesn't she just take the topical steroid?
I grew a tolerance and they stopped working. Also they have some pretty gnarly side effects aside from the withdrawal. I don't want to have to depend on a prescription medication with heavy side effects for the rest of my life
@@MissFitAndNerdy That makes sense then. Definitely if you're taking prescriptions, the benefit should outweigh the side effects.
I hope you find something else safer that works. 🌹
*Insert generic unsolicited advice here* (I noticed there were a lot)
🤗❤️
GI doctor sucks 😒. I have gastroparesis and I struggle with finding a good doctor that takes people with chronic illness serious.
Zinc, iron deficiency, you need meat in your diet now!!
My diet is like 50% meat. It’s topical steroid withdrawal, not a deficiency
@@green15838 my guy
I'm not gonna pretend to know every detail of Marisa's diet
But like her literal last video she cooked duck breast
You must have never seen a single one of my “what I eat in a day” videos... which is basically every other video hahahah. Maybe just check out what I actually eat first
@@green15838 She eats a ton of meat lol
Maybe you can go to the gym and just help other people 👍🏻
I dont think people at my gym want me to just go interrupt their workouts hahaha
