I love to put just a touch of cayenne in mine! Cayenne is good to kick the immune system in gear. Now I’m not for hot at all but I do like this little punch! Awesome!! Thanks
Great video but how do you reduce the liquid if you simmer with the lid on? Also, the honey tip is great for those who don’t know heating it kills the beneficial bacteria. If canning it though you may as well add it in while it’s hot because you’re going to cook it anyway. I loved your presentation and was simple
Thank you this video was the most helpful out of all videos that I’ve seen. Thank you for taking such detailed time I’m going to do my elderberries today.❤️🙏
This video is great, I am just about to make my own for the first time. I have one question to make sure I’m clear. After adding the lemon juice into the mixture as a preservative, you then put the jar into boiling water to preserve it. Where do you keep the jar after you’ve done that? In the fridge or on the counter? Just wanna make sure I don’t spoil it!
If this recipe makes only 1 pint can it be placed in refrigerator for immediate use?? Then to do another 1 pint patch for self storage I need to water bath it for 25 mins. Place in dark cool spot. Is this correct? Honey is very expensive in my area I sure don’t want to mess it up. By the way this is a great video!! Ty!!!
I would not proceed the syrup with the honey .. Raw honey will loss it’s beneficial properties .. just add your honey and refrigerate it .. or add honey after you open it to use ..
I noticed that some the stems float so you can use a strainer or slotted spoon etc to get them out. I'm not sure about the wet fingers. Do you mean you handle the frozen berries with wet fingers?
Years ago I bought dried elderberries and put them into my smoothie. I got violently ill about an hour later. Vomited several times...it was awful. It did not say anywhere on the label not to eat them raw. SO I learned the hard way. I was actually very angry. It should have said on the label to not eat them raw. Also, I read that you should leave the lid off when boiling as the toxic elements escape that way. Not sure if that's true.
@@FromQnz2King There aren't any "toxic fumes" it's just the chemical escaping from the berries. It doesn't hurt you to breath that in, but you wouldn't really be standing over the pot constantly anyway.

If you hot bath your syrup aren't you losing the benefits of the honey ?
Thanks I just order elderberry dry I wish I have fresh God Blessings

I place the lid cocked off the edge- to allow steam to release- as it simmers.
Yeah I was wondering the same things about the closed lid and honey 😏😐

We refrigerate it, but you could can it using safe canning methods for elderberry.
When I make mine, it’s a fushia color. It’s not as dark as yours. Could it be the type of elderberry?
That could be.

Also does the 25 mins begin after the water being to boil? Ty!
Do you have to can it or I can just skip that step of adding the lemon and just put it in my fridge after I add the honey?
You sure could give that a try. I like to freeze mine.
What do you mean by add acid please Hun
Citric acid

How do remove all the stems there's millions of them no way you can remove them all. I used the same method as you. Thanks for the tutorial.
a fine strainer helps with this.
Wet fingers will help remove them. I tried this and it does work

Take the lid off to inhale the toxic fumes?

Water bath canning Requires that the jar is UNDERWATER! .Processing the syrup with Honey will ruin honeys properties! Add after. Or use Sugar.
One third of video talking about a paper bag😮
Just run a fork down the fine stems and they drop off
