Dude providing those little tips and tricks on the installation is badass. Now I know to find an extra long allen on a socket drive and not tighten the plug sensor all the way before installing the bolts on the oil housing, thank you
Thanks for watching! Much appreciated and I’m glad this helped!!
Just replaced my OE pan with SPE upgrade. I did the pan first as I thought it being the hardest. I used a tapered metal scrapping tool and plastic interior door wedges. Took my time, worked rear and sides, and the pan just peeled off. Lovin’ the new black powder coated SPE pan. Kept my Fumoto drain valve for oil change ease.
I just installed the SPE oil filter kit with the PPE oil pan on my 2019 today, I went with the large CAT filter. Awesome, love it.
Yes it is awesome!!
@@PowerstrokeRick The SPE fuel filter and oil filter kit are awesome, enough said, I have both.
Be careful with oil filter.. read comments….
pretty good video my man. I think I can do this as well now, Thanks for the time and input to help other people. Videos like these give people the confidence that we can do our own work to our truck instead of paying other people to do it for us.
Thanks for the awesome feedback brother I appreciate you watching and glad it helped out!!
While I generally love (and have) SPE powerstroke products, the powerstroke specific Amsoil bypass system is superior in every metric that we care about in oil filtration. The new oil pan is awesome... just put mine on.
Why not add a bypass filter to this setup? It's already got the port to supply to the amsoil bypass filter.
Just ordered that same set-up plus oil heater element. Gonna' use the port on the side of filter housing and spare port in oil pan for a bypass filter.
Awesome good to hear!
Hello,
I have been watching your video's. I just wanted to let you know I installed the SPE oil pan on my 2018 ford 6.7L and after a few thousand miles the mount screws had loosened up, I had to locktite them in. No problem since.
Thanks, Keep the Vids coming!
I don’t remember if I showed it in this video, but i used blue thread locker and tightened to factory torque spec! Thanks for watching my videos!!
Love your vids, Rick! They give me the confidence to install this stuff myself! Much appreciation brother
Glad to hear you like them and happy they can help you!!! Thanks for the support!
Same here man, thanks for this video
SPE should have used the same style O ring as you used on the filter adapter. The cast pan would have been nice to see finned for added oil cooling. Nice truck btw.
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
It’s like a sore Rick..Can’t beat it🫡🇺🇸great vid.
That’s what’s up!!!! Thanks man!!!
Hey I'm really digging the cat filter set up. Jus concerned about not having a bypass valve on the filter like the oem!
If you need the bypass function on that big mama jama you got way bigger problems…. My thoughts at least
@@nickvogel7934 yeah, I would think as long as you change oil regularly it shouldn’t need the bypass.
Don't need it with a full flow filter.
I got the H&S lower fuel conversion to a CAT filter on my 15 and love it
To address your comment at the 35:57 minute mark about your fuel filter... H&S has 2 very nice options - 2011-2016 Manufacturer SKU #: 121008 or Manufacturer SKU #: 121009... 2017-2022 Manufacturer SKU: 121006...
Hope this helps...
Nice i would like if Ford came back with their pan with oring dont want to any oil leaks when doing it to fast on the OEM steet pan with silicone
I’m running the H&S lower cat filter for my fuel set up down below and it’s great! Just ordered this today and gonna slap it on!
Hell yeah thanks for watching! I have the SPE Fuel setup on my 2017 I’m waiting for them to come out with the 11-16 version!
@@PowerstrokeRick I enjoy their products! Running couple other things from them as well!
Every u tube cowboy spends tons of money turning a 500,000 mile truck into a 100,000 mile pile. I work on Powerstrokes every day. I rebuild tuned trucks 10 to 1 compared to stock.
Shit I smoke cowboy killers for a livin!! These trucks will never die with SPE parts.. like a sore D*** can’t beat it
BEWARE The CAT 1R-1807 filter is a good filter, but it does NOT have an internal BP relief valve in it. AS REQUIRE BY FORD 6.7 ENGINE , That's fine as long as your engine has a BP .VALVE AND I DONT SEE ONE IN THE ADAPTER NOR IS IT LIDSTED ON SPE WEB SITE , FIX THAT IF YOU WANT TO SAFELY USED THIS FILTER WITH OUT THE WORRY OF KILLING OF A ENGINE DUE TO OIL FLOW ISSUE WHEN COLD AND IT DOES HAPPEN . FORD JUST UPDATED FACTORY OIL FILTER TO FL-2124-S OIL FILTER WITH MORE PLETES BETTER FLOW AND MORE CAPACITY . WHY SCREW WITH SOMETHING THAT IS NOT NEEDED BESIDE THERE ARE PLENTY OF ISSUE THAT REALLY NEED ATTENTION ON 6.7
thank you for bringing this to light
STOP YELLING. It doesn't need the bypass since this setup flows over double the stock setup.
@only2genders84 it flows better when new but what happens at 3 or 4000 miles when it starts plugging up?
@@stevem4679 lol plugging up? Are you kidding me?
@@HSKFabrications are you one of those people that thinks the oil filter is there just to catch pieces of metal? The engine is constantly catching soot from blowby which is something every engine is designed to have. Combustion soot gets in to the oil which the oil filter catches. The dirtier the tune or more inneficient the emissions system, the more soot gets into that filter which does plug up within 10,000 miles. This is the main reason that bypass is in the filter.
I have the SPE fuel system and love it. I also have the dual filter Amsoil by-pass oil system which I also love.
What year is your truck? I’m considering the SPE fuel filter system for my 2020, but concerned about the CAT 1R-0749 hangin’ to low under the truck. Don’t want road debris and trash hitting that sucker going 70+ mph. Also, with your filtration setup have you thrown any codes? Lastly, how long you been running your whole setup?
Does not hang low enough to cause Any harm, if you like there is 2 different options on there site you can run a smaller cat filter for the oil at least Been running setup on both trucks for 6-8 months no issues
Great video. Very helpful.
Glad to hear it!
nice , but 2020+ is different oil pan as well as adapter housing, and 1 sensor.
Waiting on my spe pan to get here supposed to be Wednesday gonna do it and the spe ccv delete to a catch can and an exhaust Venturi
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
You didn't show it, but I'm guessing you drained the oil BEFORE replacing the filter adapter, correct? My adapter oring seems to be leaking but I didn't notice until after I just changed the oil. LOL. Thanks for the video
@@chrisberard3083 yes no problem and thanks for watching!! I started with draining the oil, then did the filter housing and filter, let everything drip for awhile and then pulled pan
@@PowerstrokeRick thanks! I thought about it after asking it. It was probably a dumb question on my part based on how low that adapter is relative to the pan. Thanks for taking the time to reply
I could be all wrong but it looks like your drag links should be flipped over 180 degrees. It would vastly improve your turning radius if that would work.
Are you talking bout the 4 link radius arms? Or the steering drag link connected to the pitman arm?
@@PowerstrokeRick I'm not very knowledagle about all this but I belive the 4 link radius arms.
@@dh405 I do have to flip them 180 like you said I’ve seen them mounted both ways but couple cats told me to do the same, I will once I do more suspension work!
In the instructions, it says 10 to 12 pounds torque ? For the pan that’s to low I think 80 to 90 ?
After the brake clean on the pan gasket did you lightly coat the seal or just put it up the way it was? Great vid and commentary.
Thanks for watching much appreciated and I just left it how it was
Why?
Is your pan or oil housing leaking , I had a buddy who did this conversion and he’s pan is leaking …. He got 54k, miles thinking about doing the crankcase oil catch can from SPE. Perhaps this can stop the housing or pan from leaking ?
No I don’t have any leaks and didn’t have any before i did this upgrade. If you have a leak coming from somewhere else that will have to be addressed
What did you torque the 5mm Allen bolts too on the filter housing?
I forget. Go on SPEMOTORSPORT website they have it in the directions
What is your oil change interval?
I usually do 5K miles across the board, but since I have the deeper pan with the cat filters, I go about 8k now!
@@PowerstrokeRick I’ve got a 16 with stock oil filter and a aluminum pan holds about a qt more forget the brand. And service every 5k! It’s on a diet with lots of extras so to speak! Never a problem! Less the death wobble but permanently fixed that!
What are the two sensors that go into the oil filter housing? I’m going to put new ones before I install.
Not sure off the top of my head
If I’m correct the one on the back is the engine oil temp sensor and the one in the front of the housing is your oil pressure sensor
One more question buddy - can you use this system in conjunction with an "Amsoil Type" bypass oil filter system?
That I am not sure about, you will have to contact SPE
@@PowerstrokeRick Thanks, not a problem
Can that filter get used without replacing the housing?
No not through SPE I believe there is another company that makes a adapter but I don’t recommend
Hello, did you use any silicone on the new pan, thanks
Those transmission lines are sure rusty. Seen transmission lines rust a pin hole in the lines and piss fluid everywhere and take out the transmission. Toyota pan sealant cutter special service tool would work well to get the pan off that Ford.
Yeah luckily I store the truck for the last 4 years before that it was exposed to salt and thanks I’ll have to check that tool out do you have a part # by chance??
Noticed any difference in oil temp?
Haven’t put enough miles on it yet to know
do you have a stock front driveshaft and what size lift do you have?
Stock front drive shaft with 7” of lift
Sticking with factory filtration. No rust.
can you use the cat filter on a stock 6.7?
Yes
No bypass or anti-Siphon on cat filters its a bad idea .half empty oil filter every time you start the struck
Wrong. I have the filter setup on my truck. Pisses all over you just like the factory filter when you remove it. The more you know.
I had one too . It was low every time I changed it .
It's the the bypass that concerned me the most anyway
@@thefartdart Ions?
Do you have to uses Cat filter with it, or will a regular filter work
That I’m not sure I believe just the cat filters
The 1r-1807 crosses over to a bunch of other brands if you want.
Get an Amsoil filter.
How many quarts of oil did it end up taking??
Just shy of 16.5 qrts, with the new pan they take 16 qrts and since I used the big car filter, it took a bit more
After doing the new pan and filter will your dipstick be at the full mark with 16.5 quarts?@@PowerstrokeRick
@@juantamayo5834 yes just about
Just another guy having to compensate for lack of other stuff
Like a sore d*** can’t beat it! Thank you for the support!
It’s not a billet oil pan Lol it’s a cast pan bud
Deez nuts are billet
I could really do without that horrible music
Turn that volume down bub
