Minute 59 was a bit of a low blow xD.
crazy she's 1 day older than me too
I love how she talks about her rough childhood and being forced into acting and being traumatized by her experiences early in life, and Graham is like “My parents paid me to take piano lessons.”
😂
Yea I noticed that too haha
I also thought he had grown up poor. I guess maybe not?
Her parents prob sold her for s e x two. Disney is a trafficking operation
@@agimxhemali220 You are an idiotic conspiracy theorist who cannot differentiate "two" from too. An excuse regarding english not being your first language is not viable here since the difference between two, to, and too are among the very first things you learn.
I love how humble she is
I can’t wait for your episode on iced coffee hour ❤️
i aspire to be like her financially
Wow! I just watched your NYC vlog 4, Kelly
Omg u guys should really do a podcast together
You and her are long lost sisters
The fact that she's been through so much and yet is still so kind, warm and humble is mind-blowing. I'm glad she's living a better life now. She deserves it.
most people who go trough lots of trauma are very kind and warm
@@hi-pi9rb Eh, not to be "that guy" but history has proven that *a lot* of times that couldn't be further from the truth.
Why is it mind blowing? I don’t understand how people say things like this as if trauma means you automatically turn into an evil person.
@@valizeth4073 history? Do you ever talk to regular people? Millions of people dealing with trauma aren’t out here being violent psychopaths, “history” is just the most insane stories but not the majority.
@@lianarodriguez1314 yeah forreal, just because of a couple extreme cases/anecdotes like Hitler or Stalin doesn’t mean trauma creates monsters. They’re the outliers; it’s not like anyone’s out there interviewing a huge sample size of a million people with trauma.
I think this was a great opportunity to LISTEN. When you're talking/interviewing someone who went through what they did, it comes off really insensitive when you redirect the conversation to yourself after they discuss something that wasn't a great expirence. People make the mistake of trying to relate to an expirence, which you can't relate to trauma if you've never expirenced that form of it with one experience which may have not been great for you. You're comparing being exploited with an expirence that is not related though was also unpleasant. If you're not educated on how to approach conversations with people who have experienced those types of things, It's always great to do research as to how you can approach them without coming off as insensitive. Sometimes the worst thing you can do is try to compare something to an experience that you've never had before rather than just listening and learning.
Ex: " My financial awareness stems from so and so which was traumatic..." (Didn't say that exactly but it's for example purposes)
Instead of following with " I loved to play with this and this at that age" which seems extremely dismissive and appears you aren't actively listening, you could've addressed what she said like " That's horrible ... Blah blah... I think at that age I was only concerned with childhood things"
Also the tone throughout the whole video seems like She's being interviewed to prove what she went through rather than for y'all to listen and use your platform for her to voice what she went through.
Also, I didn’t like how much they were talking about the other guys Attire and criticizing it, it just got very annoying because I came here to listen to Jeanette talk about her Life growing up. Getting off topic is gonna happen of course, but they went on and on with that shirt “dilemma”.
Right, comparing her being forced and manipulated to act for over a decade and support her entire family to him having to go to paino lessons for a small amount of time for a couple years while only worrying about lizards and tamagotchis. Did he hear himself speaking??
Oh, shut up. They're having a conversation. It goes both ways. If she wanted to do a monologue, she could have done it. In fact, she did through her memoir. People like you are so insufferable, thought police, speech police. I would be exhausted if I were you 😂
Absolutely agreed. They really could have listened better and spoken about themselves less. The amount of time spent talking about themselves became annoying.
Its not like he prefaced, “I KNOW ITS A TERRIBLE COMPARISON”
I'm glad she said money can solve problems I hate it when people say it cant...
saw that too and then she clarify it. 💯
Right? Money could solve every problem I have having right now!
It can't solve the underlying issue though.
@@davidh5101 well i mean….does poverty not sound like a problem to you? 😭😂😂
@@travisjacobs3 I mean it can you are just looking at it from one angle.
"When I was 6 I wasn't thinking about money."
"Really?"
She said "really" like she was truly surprised to hear that, like that was something profound, which is sad because 6 year old children should not be worried about their parents' financial situation. Jennette was, hopefully at least, and based on my experience, in the minority and was worried about very adult problems at too young an age. It is a shame her mother/parents put that burden on her.
i don't know who she is (out of touch with media) but she reminds me of a more intelligent version of myself: humble, quick witted, intense -- weird, arty, impoverished childhood. i love the fact that she can't pronounce louboutin. she wouldn't buy a car if it cost what those *gifted* pumps command at a boutique in west hollywood...
Or she just said “really?” Cuz most 6 year olds start to understand the concept of money and are generally interested in it (ex. Getting a few dollar or coins)
@@htbcerberus5358 Understanding the concept of money and worrying about paying your parents' bills are not the same. :/
@@katelynanneg I never said they were. I’m just saying that she said “really” in regard to his question because most 6 years have a somewhat fascination with money
Yeah, in her podcast she talks about her abusive mother and all the terrible things she did to her, one of which was literally giving Jennette an eating disorder from a young age so she could get more roles and how that affected her adulthood and teenage years.
It's kinda sad how she's had to worry about adult problems since she was a literal toddler.
Jennette: "yeah my mom forced me to be the bread winning of the family to dig us out of a financial hell hole and i'd sob bc it was too much pressure and i'd be manipulated and guilted into child labor my whole life."
whatever this guys name is: " yeah my mom and dad bribed me with toys so i'd go to piano and i totally miss it."
bro. wtf. read the room like are you not actively listening?
That was so annoying 😂😂
“Oh so you stuck with it for TWO years…” she says 🥲 yikes man. Yikes.
Just because she had a sucky childhood doesn't mean others should feel bad for her. :P
@@ronburgundy3172 or maybe just think about what you say before you say it? she’s not asking anyone to feel bad for her. it’s just a strange thing to say in response.
Not saying he is totally in the clear, but he did clarify that his experience wasn’t even comparable to what she went through.
I have been asking my kids, “whatever happened to Sam from Sam and Cat?” because we used to watch it all the time. Then BOOM. Jenette McCurdy is everywhere. Thank you for showing your courage and pulling back the curtain on fame and Hollywood for all the young people who aspire to be famous like their tv heroes.

I super understand the criticism regarding not addressing her book and that whole specific experience that much, but if I'm being super honest, I loved that they three just spoke together casually almost as friends. She's absolutely mindblowing and amazing, but her mom and trauma are not all she is. It was great seeing her interact just like the young funny and empathetic woman she is, beyond everything she's been through.
I loved this episode.
Thank you, I was thinking the same thing.
Fair take, not 100% sure whether it not I agree but it is a solid take
They dropped the ball interviewing her. They totally kept turning it to themselves and then the long useless topics of the clothes, and the dating.. I had to fast forward a lot of it and was surprised when I thought I fast forward enough (which was a lot) these men are still going at it almost bickering.
I wish they would explain things more. When they talked about encroaching I understood it but I expected it to be explained because I listen to Joe rogan too much apparently. I have never actually heard about encroaching though so I googled to be sure my brain totally understood it right because when they started talking about hillside it made me think I could be wrong.
I think the problem is they didn't have a frame of reference or understanding of the financial insecurity or trauma Jennette experienced. At least the host acknowledged his piano story wasn't a great comparison. I stopped watching after they started talking about clothes and romanticizing the "simple" days when they didn't have to pay for so much. Maybe it got deeper later on.
This was a terrible interview....Jeanette actually brought topics and ideas to the table....These guys didn't take her seriously which is a shame.
I have mixed feelings. I could see where it would be a nice relief from her perspective to not have to focus on my trauma that I've been focused writing and talking about for the last year or so.
It also felt like they did a lot of mansplaining. I couldn't listen to them acting like they know so much abt certain topics.
“this is going to be a terrible analogy”
the narrator: and it was in fact a *terrible* analogy.
@@angelsotired that's clearly a spam bot lmao

I liked this interview quite a bit, its nice to see people having a discussion with Jennette that isn't completely about her trauma like every other interview.
The other comments disagree lol
People are allowed to like something that others don't. I know in this world that's hard to believe, but it's allowed. 😂 @Glanzern
@@stephaniesonnier9130 I didn't dislike the interview. I was saying everyone else WANTED them to just talk about her trauma.
I love her dry sense of humor, but it breaks my heart to learn what forms it.
Her sense of humor is dry for a reason. She wanted to be a nice, likable girl, but her character, Sam Puckett, was a mean jerk. McCurdy wants to live it down by being unemotionally funny.
@@davidlafleche1142 she got to play a nice girl in an animated movie and I actually loved it. Remember bling? It was the best. If she ever got to act again she needs to make sure that she can play a character like that instead, if you are a Good person you should play a good person.

I can’t with the financial mansplaining! She mentioned her interest in personal finance and it’s clear it’s paying off! She’s making financial choices that are true to her true self. It doesn’t feel like the hosts did their homework in researching about Jeannate’s background. More prep could’ve helped them prepare to at least be empathetic about her childhood and past financial choices. Most importantly, it could’ve helped them avoid assumptions about finance topics that she could’ve already know about.

I agree. This podcast is new to me but they are not good listeners. Love her, tho
@@michaelfreeman3337 Yes, that's a Brontosaurus!!
She was my favorite on iCarly when I was a kid. I'm kinda surprised her childhood is so relatable. Hard to imagine happy kids on TV as having a rough real life... Hope things are better now.
I hated Sam. She was a fucking abusive bully and I absolutely despised how romanticized she was. Anytime Sam was beating Freddie, or Gibby I instantly would get angry because it reminded me of the kids who bullied me. I just fucking hate how people actually believed that Sam was a good person. Hell, even Carly was an abusive twat too.
@@summerrose8110 To be fair I wasn't interested in moral fiber as a kid. I just thought she was cute and resembled someone I knew at school. I'm sure, being a TV show, all the characters had designed flaws to make for interesting dynamics. I don't think they ever intended to romanticize bullying. Although... Apparently Dan Schneider is a bit of a creep, so I really don't know...
I greatly admire Jennette from what she talked about here. She's financially safe with her money, spends minimally, but also prioritizes travel for her happiness. Looove that 😌
Why was that sponsor placement so funky 😂
Worst placement ever
Threw me off lol
maybe that was the point, considering you commented about it! He is a genius
ikr i was listening while working so i did not see the video, i was like "whoa did they really cut Jennette like that!?"
Jack’s undeniable need for sponsorships in aml of Graham’s secondary channels has become obnoxious. I agree. The placement of this sponsorship was incredibly off. It seems like they should handle ads in this podcast more professionally by talking to the camera before going into an advertisement. Saying something like, “we are going to take a short break for an advertisement from this videos sponsor. We will be back in 60 seconds.’
UA-cam suggested me this video because I recently read Jennette’s book and I’ve been looking up interviews and stuff about her.
I loved this interview because she seemed comfortable around Graham and Jack and felt like friends catching up.
The portion where they start talking about Jack’s clothes and style made me a little mad because of the way it was addressed.
Probably Graham meant well but it was completely unnecessary and speaks volumes about his character the fact that he felt comfortable enough to bring it up in the episode.
Jennette was trying to be polite and stay neutral kind of talking about her white tee but graham kept going..
I don’t know… i would probably watch another episode if they have a guest that interests me.. but I didn’t quite liked Graham. Jack I adored. He seemed sweet and genuine. Even Jennette said he has a kind face.
Felt the same
he was a total jerk about the way jack was dressing. i can see what jack means about graham just wanting him to dress like him
When Jennette said "I was excited to talk about that" when they finally brought up her book, (at the last thirty minutes of the podcast) was so heartbreaking to hear. That's what I kept waiting for/expecting too. I was disappointed with this video tbh, there weren't very many questions on learning more about her experience, and at first when they were talking about money and the guy putting so much emphasis on how her management team "lawyered" her and went on about it when it was a thing that happened years ago, and it lead to a decision that she had already stated she felt so much better about. Whenever she answered the questions in the beginning with the house maintenance stuff and there was just silence, I would feel like " oh no, did i just say the wrong thing? These guys think I made a mistake" and then to proceed on with HOW she made the mistake, I just wish they didn't make comments like "this is what they were doing" or "they for sure disclosed that you" like, dude that's not what important, if the person said they don't remember or they don't know- just let it go and move on the next topic - which is her story, not explaining why things happened that aren't important.
"Money making child soldier" "I like dinosaurs too!....." Lmao. Entire video in a nutshell.
the hosts were so tone deaf
@@omgitzmetiya I hate say that about Graham but I have to be honest they due seem tone deaf
Yeah they missed an opportunity to talk about socioeconomic factors and how that played a lot into the financial anxiety Jennette had at a young age. I don’t think the hosts really recognized that or had experienced it themselves.
LMAO as soon as that happened i just knew...
yup. 4 minutes in and im done with this i just KNOW its gonna be cringeworthy and uncomfortable to watch.
Jennette looks beautiful and her personality is so refreshing.
Period, I hope she will become a highly respected actor
Crazy how humble she seems, super respectful and kind. Andddd she’s still funny just like when we were kids!!! I wish the best for her and her family :)

Totally get the financial awareness as a kid. I think I was 8 when I stopped asking for every toy out there because I knew we didn't always have the money for it. My parents always did their best and what they couldn't do, my grandparents did. But y'all would be surprised how common it is for kids to worry about money
same I remember being 8 and my mom venting to me about how we can’t afford the electrical bill
I became aware when I was around 4, believe it or not. My sister died, so it was a traumatic, confusing time for me which is why I think I have some really vivid memories from that time. But, my parents would feed me and not eat themselves because we couldn’t afford the food. I also remember these very nice ladies showing up at Christmas with a garbage bag full of gifts for me because my parents couldn’t afford anything. My dad worked, but he worked steel mills in the late 70’s. The mill closed right as my sister died. We lived in Michigan. Because of our financial situation we moved back to PA. On the way back the muffler kept falling off the car every other mile. I never asked for toys growing up, or money. Never asked them for anything and was always extremely grateful for anything I got.
Yes, children become aware of a lot we don’t think they do.
"I think I was 8 when I stopped asking for every toy out there"
i never got every toy out there...so i didnt grow out of it ina sense...esp since i felt like my parents could afford it...but thats cause they worked hard to save money...didnt have much vices, both worked...this shit just made me think of that...like for me thats not easy...i just spend spend spend
My parents didnt even buy me clothes, girls get cute outfits for their parents only for existung right ? I was giving an allowce who was btw miserable.... i USED TO BUY MY OWN CLOTHES since 15 !!!!
I worried about money so much that if something went missing or broke I would legit cry and panic bc I knew my mom would be really upset to have to replace it 😬
I was glad to hear about her struggles with social cues! I was homeschooled for 11 years too and sometimes feel like people in groups have some sort edge.
What are social cues?
@lovenature3958 the ability to "read the room" so to speak. To be able to sense what's appropriate to say and do in different situations with different people.

I definitely get financial awareness as a young kid. I learned growing up that maybe was no and that we could only afford stuff when my grandma brought it. Like growing up all my clothes or at least majority of them were brought by my grandparents. And I knew why that was as a child. I never really asked for much growing up due to understanding how poor we were. I grew up with a single mom and we lived in the projects in government housing.
So relatable, I remember wanting things and not asking because I didn’t want to stress my mom out. I mostly wore handed down clothes and rummage.
I relate to this but me as the mom here . I am a single mom of 6 and wish I could give my kids the world . My mom helps me out at times with buying them clothes . Thankfully I just got a promotion and really try . 3 years ago was the first time I was able to get them all Christmas gifts and they didn’t have to share board games or a video game . I spent so much on them to make up the years I couldn’t and I cried seeing them the morning of open everything up . My oldest son sounds stressed at times asking me for life essentials and it hurts me . I’m sorry as a child you endured this and I hope you understand it hurts us as well . I haven’t bought myself clothes in yearsssss

Geez Graham! There’s more to life then making money. You have to enjoy it sometimes, especially when you’re young! You never know where life will take you when you’re older.
I don't know what his childhood was like but if you live in a low income paycheck to paycheck household, this is a real thing. I remember being at that same age when my mom would put back items in the grocery store. She would say, "We're poor. we don't have enough money." I think this is what led me to the habit of always having a fully stocked fridge because of that from my childhood.
I like reading these types of replies. It's so true and it shows awareness of why you do certain things now as an adult.
It's true. I'm paycheck to paycheck and slowly building up to the point where I can afford to spend extra on unnecessary items since I didn't really have that as a kid and I want my kids to have more than I did

I relate to the financial awareness. I was well aware about our financial struggles as a young child. I remember in elementary school I intentionally skipped field trips cause I didn't want to ask my parents for money too often.
*Makes me sad that as a child, she was obligated to take on her parents debts and their duties to financially support the family. Children should never have to be that, no matter how much the family is struggling. If I was living paycheck to paycheck and my child was so successful, I’d make sure the bulk of the money was put in trust to them to support their future. She got robbed! So sad.* 🥺

That’s just the real world. Not everyone has the luxury to be a celebrity in Hollywood, and outside entitled areas of the US, that’s how the rest of the world lives
It's sad a lot of families do this

Honestly, hearing her story and how she battled forced anorexia changed my view of ICarly completely. I HATE how the producers made her a character that ate a lot. I can never watch Icarly the same, and it’s amazing that that was even allowed.
Wow! I forgot about that! How heartbreaking!!
Probably only time she ate
Honestly, I didn't realise for part of it that she wasn't the interviewer because I was organising my house and that can be distracting.
I loved her questions to Jack about the dating and questions to both about emotions and how she just asks "really?" as an ending so if they want to think more they can or it can end there. You can feel the writer and listener in her the whole time. I hope I can find more interviews with her that delve more into her book. Recently listened to her narration of her book and was blown away with her humour and grace in delving into her journey into a healthy existence.

Never knew Jenette was such a chill down to earth person 😀
she really is!
Not only was this a perfect display of someone speaking over others constantly, it was made extremely uncomfortable to watch by his complete disregard for the guest's interests. It felt like he flipped the roles and made Jannette interview him for an hour and a half.
Really like these three, fun conversation, especially the second half. Great episode and thanks for having Jeanette on.
Jeanette is freaking amazing to have the willpower to take control of her finances at a young age while being the primary breadwinner, not succumbing to the creepy grooming with the show's creator, and resisting the immense pressure to keep acting from both fans and the industry. It's so creepy how close to gaslighting some reactions to her retirement are. She has the autonomy to resist very huge "If someone doesn't want to do this then there must be something wrong with them" energy. She doesn't succumb or cope, she speaks out. Simply amazing.
Yep I'm so proud of her for standing up for herself.
This is my first time watching the show, and I enjoyed the overall interview with Jennette. It was, however, pretty strange to hear that Graham regularly gives Jack critique on different facets of his appearance... like enough to apparently full-on have Jack agree to change into Graham's shirt/jacket/watch combo before the show. Just wanted to share that I felt pretty bummed for Jack in his position as it was presented in the show. He has every right to the comfort of developing his own sense of professional style and/or wearing clothes he likes and feels good/totally himself in. Everyone develops and matures at their own pace, and you can still support someone on their own sartorial journey without trying to be forceful about it or impose your taste onto them... which is just not a healthy thing for either professional relationships or friendships.
Graham is a control freak
Graham is a narcissist
I agree. That made me sad. I also don’t think Graham’s shirt is any more professional or put together looking.
The one Graham is actually wearing, I mean
Yeah, it's weird seeing how unbothered Jack seems by all this. I think any other person would have told Graham to f**** off, but whatever. This makes me admire Jack more, and Graham less.
Happy for her. She seems to be in a better state of being since leaving acting, wish nothing but thr best for her. Great episode
In the kindest way possible, this interview wasn't much of an interview as it was talking about yourself and mansplaining. Seriously, this comment is not intended to be mean but rather to provide some insight to gain more self-awareness. The person being interviewed should be speaking majority of the time with some directional guidance from the interviewer. Also, bring people on that you genuinely are interested in knowing and picking their brain, not somebody solely for viewership/clicks.
Rewatch your interview and reflect. It was always an "I/me" response.
Absolutely! She barely talked! I was skipping to see if she has the chance to get the floor but no luck.
I completely agree.
Some one needs to do a video read on this interview
Jenette is such a great guest and so grounded...gotta check out her podcast

When Jennette says the word “goddamn.” Graham: We’ll bleep a little bit of that. Narrator: They did not, in fact, bleep that. And I’m all for it. Hahah.
glad i got recommended this, the two guys doing the podcast seem honest and real, made it fun to watch! subscribed :)
the fact that they spend +10 mins talking about this poor guys shirt when shes talking about trauma and abuse......... girl graham you can not criticize him while wearing THAT SHIRT
LITERALLY the guy in the blue shirt is much better dressed and looks much more professional in my opinion. he is also sweet and much more respectful the dude in the grey shirt is just making everything about him. like why have guests on your podcast if you just wanna talk about yourself
I like how this became, “Lets pick apart the personality of Jack” lol. Jack, you’re fine the way you are.
I actually think he’s the sweetest man! And the shirt is a little “preppy” but it really suits him! And I love how much more comfortable he became once in his own clothing 🥰
No, no he's not. I'm getting serious weirdo vibes from this guy
Them: talking about how much they love dinosaurs
Also them: can’t name a brachiosaurus
actually that's normal, they loved dinosaurs when they were kids, it's hard to remember the names after all that time😅
@Lexi 93 it's different for each person, for example I don't remember the names of the characters from my favorite childhood cartoons even though I was obsessed with them back then (and it was not so long ago, I'm only 17 lol maybe I just have a really bad memory)
Loved this video! Watched it all in one sitting
This was awesome! Glad I stumbled on this podcast!
literally the way he treats jack is gross like give him a chance to answer for himself damn and stop criticizing everything about him
also the mansplaining is like too much lmao like she didn't come here to be explained everything she already went through :////
Him calling his outfit childish yet saying he should shop at h&m LOL
I love her energy and calmness in this, definitely checking out her podcast now

Hi, this is my first time watching your podcast, and I just want to say that you two are amazing hosts. I had so much fun watching this. Jennette was an amazing guest also. (:
I don’t think spending money on vacations is ever bad if you have the money. At the end of the day it’s experience and that’s always worth it
i know like what that's a great investment if you have it, it's something you'll never forget, likely with people you're grateful to have lifelong memories with, it makes you closer with them, or even if you're alone, there are some places or experiences that can change you for life and you cannot put a price tag on something so significant. shit even just the quarry across the state line from me changed my life without spending any money, so kauai with someone i love i'm sure would be something wonderful. that was weird that they kinda yikes'd at that lol, she has the money so i think it was a great use of it.
I totally agree. I don’t like the way the reacted to her when she said that. Seeing the world is never something to regret or try to avoid because it costs money, especially if she can do it she should
@@kellymitchell4885 right? I didn’t like it either… like traveling is the best way to spend your hard earned money…
it’s so nice to see someone with a traumatic childhood interact with ppl who didn’t. it makes me feel less ~alone
Human beings are social creatures, talking to others maybe what you have to do.
Some people weren't abused as a kid?
🥰🥰🥰
Right they are so out of touch its ridiculous and very immature
It is so hard to interact with people who had happy, stable childhoods. Like I am genuinely so happy for them because nobody should go through abuse, neglect, or poverty. But every time I hear them casually bring up having something that I craved so desperately my entire life (not just material things but love, support, necessities, etc etc) it truly pains me. It’s not even jealousy it’s just pure sadness and longing. But I still do my best to feel happy for them, and I do. It just feels so unfair sometimes.
Awesome podcast show iced coffee guys!! Haha this was definitely my favorite. Also this is only the 4th one ive watched completely
So glad to hear your story thank you❤️❤️
I love how once Jack changed his Shirt he turned into a different person and the entire vibe in the room changed!🤯

Honestly sounded like a serial killer 🤣🤣
This is the most interesting podcast episode I have ever seen. They all seem like old friends and the topics were so interesting. I’m gonna need to see more of these episodes. Ps, The fact that he offered his shoes, is so sweet in my opinion. I think he’s precious.
I love getting to hear Jennette’s story and see where she is now despite her hardships.
Couple suggestions for the pod:
Poster of library books gotta go, the glare of the ring light takes you out of the illusion immediately.
The set up is very… intimate, even with a humble set, everyone needs some elbow room.
Idk what it is, I’m not like a stalker, but I just love Jeanette McCurdy, her vibe her mind her voice, she’s so smart and so interesting and on a whole new level of chill, I’m obsessed

Graham talking about his love for reptiles as a kid after Jennette completely poured her heart out about her traumatizing childhood was the most insensitive response I’ve ever heard 😅, poor girl.
I respect her for playing it cool though, I know I would have literally got up and walked out if I had to listen to these two morons go on and on as if they’re upbringing was even remotely relatable
Like if “my uncle broke his neck tab dancing once.” Was a person
Then he brought up his parents bribing him to go to piano lessons like-i get it, I had hockey as a kid and was accidentally put on the boys team by my dad...and since we didn't have much money and couldn't get a refund I HAD to go even though I hated it. But a little after that I also begged for guitar lessons, and was told I could get them, went to a free first lesson and everything. I was so upset I couldn't go after begging and begging but found out later it was because we couldn't afford it at the time.
Ik I'm kind of rambling here but my point is being able to go to piano lessons, and getting allowance money to save up for toys and reptiles, is such a privilege. And parents forcing their kids into music lessons is pretty common...it's normal. I know he acknowledged it wasn't the same but him bringing up totally normal childhood scenarios in response to actual abuse is weird to me.
He said twice it wasn't the same and not on the same level
He did the same thing with the piano lessons lol
@@katieh1752 then why bring it up?
loved her genuine laugh, she seemed so kind and started glowing when she does, can we just talk about the dating and feelings conversation from an astrological perspective: Jennette the sweet and emotional cancer, Graham the virgo that loves to analyze everything!! and everyone lol and Jack who I guess could be an air sign, maybe an aquarius?
love this casual interview
I am cringing so hard at how Graham reacted to Jack mentioning wanting more kids. Geesh--your whole life can't be work! Family is a different kind of freedom--but also growing up, letting go of selfishness and learning a wholeee new way to love. Very beautiful. Worth a thought. Peace!
Having a family can be beautfiful but how exactly is it "freedom"?
@@circleinfo I just had my first two babies (twins) and I’ll tell you it certainly doesn’t feel like freedom yet 😂

Nah I totallyyyyy feel Jennette on the home ownership thing. Ownership is just not for some people, houses are a pain in the ass and if you're not given a warning for how MUCH of a pain in the ass they are, and you aren't handy yourself (which she said she wasn't, and I personally am not myself either, so I feel), it can be SO costly and annoying. The only real way to deal with the constant issues that come with long-term home ownership are like........learn how to be handy yourself, which takes time investment and costs money, hope that you have friends/family nearby that are handy AND willing to help, or pay someone to fix it and hope they're not ripping you off. With that stuff in mind, you can start to see the appeal of being able to delegate any broken shit to being your landlord's problem.
Owning a condo is less of a hassle than a house, and you still own equity. Kinda the best of both worlds. I live in my condo and I’ve never had crazy upkeep issues. I recommend it!
Hands down 100% would so much rather be responsible for these things myself. My apt maintenance is ABYSMAL!!! Hires the lowest dregs of society who have no idea what they're doing, to fix everything. Don't even trust them in my place. Being able to hire educated people over min wage immigrants would be preferable any day.
@@krysiunia honestly condos are the dumbest thing of all time. Who would pay to own part of a building lmao it's so goofy. Just rent or buy a house. U basically paid an upfront property cost to live in an apt lmaooo 🤦

@@Brandon-bc5um If you can’t afford a house it’s a way to own equity for less than half the cost. I personally prefer living in a condo or apartment over a house. To each their own.

That's because she's just that good at acting. She's really, actually good at it. But sometimes we're gifted in ways that we don't even want.
Yeah... it's acting, she was an actress. It was her job as a child to lie for a living and be someone else for the world to be entertained on national television.
i liked her character because i sensed she knew the struggle of having to help her "mom" or parents with adult problems without actually wanting to be burderened with that role
@@dameionarutogaming9728 yh she was my favorite
I saw it.
I feel like they’re trying not to pity her. I don’t think they are actively trying to be disrespectful. And I think she can tell the difference. We’re all thinking back to when we were 6 and how different our situations were to hers. I do think they should have spent a little more time studying how to speak to abuse and neglect survivors though.
Agreed. She seems uncomfortable at times with the host.
Maybe on her podcast they do, but this is The Iced Coffee Hour it's mostly about finance. It's up to people who face the trauma to open up themselves if they so choose, we cannot force them so let them heal their own way.
@@UpQuick Dont see it, I could be blind or it could be your projection. let people heal their own way, they will discuss it if they so choose.
Reading “we’re all thinking back to when we were 6 and how different our situations were” is so interesting to me. I was a child actor and when I read the book I had so many moments where I was shocked by how relatable the book was. I was based out of Memphis, so the industry was certainly different and easier to step away from, it was also 100% my choice to get into it initially, but yeah, the memoir’s popularity has been such an interesting way of finding out what surprises people and what I never really thought much of before now. One thing I’d love to hear more people talk about is, while there were a lot of things working in film/tv that are insane retrospectively, I couldn’t get through a DAY in theater. Not sure if that was mostly Memphis area that was so toxic, but I always found theater acting to be immediately physically anxiety provoking. I hope that this conversation and the rise in social media accessibility is giving modern child actors more resources to step out of that bubble and develop at their own pace and spaces to gauge what they do and don’t want to share with the public.
Absolutely love you and I’m in awe of your courage! Damn girl, you are a true inspiration! Sending love and positive energy to you always!
I love Jennette, the book was so good, I read it in one day 😢 I can relate so much and she gave me so much hope and will to live and go away from my toxic home... I wanna be healthy and happy
