Francesco is amazing. The reason he could get so good in such a short period of time is because he practised the right way. He started very sloooowly, then gradually worked his bpm up to higher and higher speeds with a metronome. It's important to be completely relaxed in your wrists and only use fingers. Same with feet, start slowly, then gradually go faster. You try to go as fast as you can right away, you will just tense your wrists and learn it the wrong way. Your wrists will then slow down your fingers. Getting really good at drumming takes disciplin. Much respect to drummers who have the persistence to do this.

when you look at the section of the brain associated with motor movements of the body (sensory motor cortex) you will see that certain body parts are closely knit together and neural activity tends to cross between parts, causing certain muscles to flex without controlling them. in this case, the right hand hitting the snare, in the brain, is also activating the part of the brain controlling the neck muscles

There are lot of muscles (something around 30) that cooperate to make a certain faces. If it were uncontrolled muscle movements they would certainly not result in a well defined smile but just some random twitching. Also, these musicians changes their faces while they play i.e. they can actually controlled them, or at least could control them before they became part of the muscle memory that is used, for instance, for the movements to play a right handed blastbeat.
