Another awesome video! Thanks Marthyn! I keep requesting Chason, and I will until I see his awesome talent acknowledged by you! :)

Thank you Marthyn! Much appreciated...
Thank you guys for supporting the metal drumming scene for so long!!
Francesco is a friggin monster! its terrifying watching a human being be comfortable playing 16th notes at an astonishing 270 bpm! :O
True
So good! Drummer, guitarist, vocalist. He is the man 🤘
It's amazing what triggers can do.
@@Guppusmaximus Oh! so you are one a those guys huh? LoL Triggers dont do anything unless given a signal...that signal is provided by the player.
Guppusmaximus are there really people like this still complaining about triggers? You know pretty much everyone uses them? Not just metal bands
Francesco also writes all the music, so it makes sense he accents the orchestra :)
I think that being able to play The Violation right through is a benchmark of extreme metal drumming ability.
true...actually it's a benchmark for OUTSTANDING metal drumming ability :-)
Victor Supreme Probably, lol
Wait, so extreme drummers don’t exist? Because I’m pretty sure there are like 2 people on this planet that can play this song.
The thing that kills me about Francesco is he had just LEARNED to play drums 2 years before this video. The drums on that whole album are 100% perfectly written
Wtf? That has to be cap
Bobbie Smith nah man I asked him personally hahahaha
@@bobbiesmith1812 It’s true, he originally was the vocalist and rhythm guitarist but started playing drums because the band couldn’t find a steady drummer. He was playing shows with them within a year. The dude is absolutely unreal.
@@DmitryIvanAlyosha80 he is a virtuoso, a fucking multi talent
I also heard someone (who met him after a concert) mention that Francesco told him he doesn't even consider himself really as a drummer because he can't play anything except Fleshgod songs
I'm not even a drummer, but stayed for how interesting your explanations were. Great video!!
Same here. I love these vids, along with Craig Reynolds / The Downbeat.
Marthyn's biceps is strong in this video
curls for the girls :-)
@@drumtechniqueacademy Looking good Marthyn!
Haha yep, those curls for the girls are paying off. Plus the new ink doesn't hurt either!
@@jgoosedrums true that
Saw him live last year, but he was has the frontman playing the guitar, and they got another brand new drummer.
This guy is a true role model for any metalhead that has a band, he is able to swap between the positions, this is completely amazing.
And of course, the entire band is impressive, I got amused by the whole atmosphere that they can create during a live show.
Funny you say that mate. I was going to ask if they had a new drummer. The guy is very talented it seems. I'm just getting into the band now.
Francesco is among the strongest drummers in the extreme scene
Sick drummer! What a speed and precision! Your comments and tips are really good. I've already seen this video on UA-cam before but I didn't get all these details you shown and explained.
This band Live is amazing. You can feel the drums right through your body. Exquisite.
He is one of my favorite drummers
Cant get enough of these kind of videos! Keep 'em coming!
Will do
16th notes at 270 bpm = 1080 hits per minute = 18 hits per second. 18 per second. And he doesn't seem to get tired. It's mind-blowing and not many people are physically able to do that. Wow.
Thank you, Marthyn. I've been waited for this video.
I'm super excited for this one!!!
in this one I'm showing off my limited heel toe skills... I still hope my explanation + exercises are useful! enjoy!
@@drumtechniqueacademy if that's what you call limited please send those skills to me :D I'll accept.
@@HeadbangersKitchen haha
Spencer Preweet from ARCHSPIRE...this guy playing is scary as hell...
Saw them live back in April. They were all super nice dudes. Their playing was flawless too.
Spencer is a beast
@J W yeah but his cymbals attack especially between the bells is quite amazing...
calling his drumming boring just tells me you dont play an instrument well and never will @J W
bro where can I buy what you are smoking? jeez @J W
Their best song, too. Fucking amazing.
Funnily enough one of the things I appreciate the most about this drum performance is how the guy gets ready to play the next song right after The Violation. How strong do you need to be to do that !! Ridiculous cardio.
Thank you Marthyn this is awesome. I don't even play drums, I play guitar and I love these analysis.
Sometimes you see Francesco look to the outside... actually he is in a hurry coz the pizza delivery boy could arrive any second :)
Italians don't order pizza takeaway.
João Cota we do
Really informative video! Love the small tutorials on how to get the different techniques right! Thank you \m/
you're welcome
These videos are brilliant Marthyn, keep them coming!
I was waiting for this since you started these videos.
Wow thank you for this Martin !! This guys physical strength is scary .. look how he’s ready to play the next track right after the violation ends.. madness
Awesome analysis, good catch on the lower back issue. Insane heel-toe to be that consistent at 270, where any mistakes will be highlighted by the triggers immensely.
I'd love to see some analysis of Travis Orbin (his Unleash the Pwnies video to fit the theme of your channel) or Alex Rudinger (Inexhaustible Savagery or Tethys, maybe even Xenochrist). This series is awesome!
thank you!
these videos are awesome, thanks for doing these!
Awesome man, thank you for making these videos.
I think this is my favourite performance yet. The drum fills are frighteningly fast! I'm enjoying these videos, Marthyn, and I'm not even a drummer!
Tomas Haake of Meshuggah please
it's gonna happen at one point :-)
Bitte do not look down live :D
Yes! Do "Bleed".
@@rmr5044 Yeah it's pretty damn groovy. I also like Marrow quite a bit
@Fuster Cluck Sorry your simplistic ears can't handle it.
Stick to AC-DC.
Its amazing how you can make this so interesting, you're an amazing teacher. I don't even play drums and I watched this start to finish.
Highly informative, entertaining and all round great video! Thank you very much. subbed.
Kévin Paradis from Benighted certainly deserves a spot in these reaction videos, i hope so!
Also romain goulon!
totally agree!
Yes pls😍
It is really good that you talked about leaning forward. Iirc they had to cancel shows, because Francesco got lower back problems. You should address these things more often as these issues are often overlooked by many musicians, not just drummers. It is by no means badmouthing someone.
Btw that's why i really like John Longstreth from Origin, he looks so relaxed while playing.
True...and yes john is amazing
I'm a huge fan of Paoli, hope he get's better soon. But lets face it... John Longstreth is a robot, everyone knows that by now.
I hope he does one of John longstreth, he’s definitely my favorite drummer out there
is the leaning forwards thing what got Joey Jordinson into all the trouble that led to him being kicked or was that something else? I remember hearing it was back issues
@@thepardigon178 dude, it's just leaning forward, don't dramatise it too hard
wow great video man, ive seen other "teacher" reactions to videos but this is actually educational, awesome to see how its done, not a drummer as its always been mind boggling how you can make every limb do something different specially how you describe Francesco doing this, truly great instructional video makes me want to get a drum kit and have you teach
It's perfect when you spend time to explain what exercises we can do to play like him.
Thank you !
You're welcome...if thats helpful then Im gonna continue doing that
@@drumtechniqueacademy Yeah, very helpful ! There is a lot of videos showing how to play heel toe, swivel..
But it's difficult to find some good exercises, not only about speed but about control it.
Can't wait your next video !
you gotta check out dan presland of ne obliviscaris, hes incredible.
True
damn awesome you've made an analysis of him! I knew he used different techniques. He is performing so well at such a high bpm. Someone had to made this clear ;)
Awesome! I love these videos! Nice Work
One of my favorite drummers, and I'm a guitarist. Keep it up with the fun tutorials Marthyn
Dave mcgrew from cattle decapitation
YES Kingdom of Tyrants please!
Man, he is not human afterall
Jamie from Ulcerate please
Im sure that guy will take way more than 1 video to observe properly,
And what a great drummer Francesco is

THIS....FUCKING THIS ....the GOD of extreme metal /!!!!!!....more like please
Dude, I loved watching this breakdown! SUBBED
Hey Marthyn!
I love your vids and explanations! I'm a guitarist and audio engineer and your videos are pure gold when it comes to drum production including the terms which are used by drummers!
Thank you and keep the flame alive!
wow a reaction video with some actual content. Good stuff
thank you!
MARTHYN!!! You are the most thorough teacher of percussion! I admire you! You break down every single stroke of every moving part of a drummer's extremities! Thank you so much! Thank you I wish I could talk to you in person and tell you how appreciative I am, because you've helped my technique over the years! Thank you I really appreciate these videos!!!!!❤❤❤
Thank you so much Marthyn ! keep up the great work!

Excellent Choice ! This guy is amazing
Great job Marthyn, great explanation and breakdown with practice tips. Best one for now.
thank you very much!
Thank you for this video! Francesco is a monster. Can you please do a video where you analyze the drumming technique of Spencer Prewett from Archspire? He is incredible in so many ways!
Marthyn, you're the man! I wish I have a teacher like you in my town for some presencial classes. Here metal is very weak. Cheers from Brazil
@Ammon Herrera yeah, surely. I was talking about my city... But in the country we have a lot of bands

Im really interested to hear your reaction on some videos for Marco Minneman, especially his play in necrophagist. There was something that really needs your explanation in technical elements. Thanks for video with Franchesco, really good job! Cant wait 4 another 1

At 0:31: "Alright! That's it. Let's start now with The Violation"... ( ͡°( ͡° ͜ʖ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ʖ ͡°) ͡°)
Great analysis as usual \m/
What about something from Marco Minnemann (with Necrophagist) or Virgil Donati (Alien Hip hop)???
Holy shite, mate! You made my day! LOL
the difference between a real teacher reacting and a "drum coach" or any others "coaches" out there is significantly huge.
Marthyn, I love your reactions, so professional.
thx alot
Great video ! Very instructive ! Thx Mr Marthyn !
Thank you very much!
I talked with the bassist of this band after a show at the summer slaughter fest back in like 2011 or 2012, the bassist told me the drummer had only been playing drums for like 3 years at the time when this was filmed, dude is a monster.
Non è possibile 😱😱😱
Darkside from mgla is such a great drummer especially with his hands. Would love to see your thoughts on his playing!
Oh yeah. Darkside is such a unique drummer. Have You heard him in latest Kriegsmachine album?
@@ironscull Oh yeah, such skill. I definitely look at him for pushing myself as a drummer.
@@blackmetalden Im not a drummer. I play guitar and bass. But i can fully admire a good drumming skills like Darksides. Hell i never listened to black metal before but then i discover Mgla and later Kriegsmachine and I sunk in.
can you post the youtube url of the video you'd like me to review?
@@drumtechniqueacademy ua-cam.com/video/LLOvk0LwuGk/v-deo.html I think this is the best video to show his skills. I think an Excersises in Futility V would be better but there are drum cam from it.

How about john longstreth from origin ? That will be awesome
Would be cool to see an analysis of non-extreme metal band (Dream Theater for example)

You're welcome, thx.
Amazing.
You should do one on Alan Cassidy from The Black Dahlia Murder.
Derek roddy be awesome to discuss.
can you post a youtube url? thank you
@Gary White yeaahhh i've seen it too, sick performance \m/
Derek or George Kollias definitely; two ultimate legends of extreme drumming. Derek has many clinic sessions and a modern drummer show or two to pick from -being fair I don't think the video above is him at his technical best; his technique has become more refined as years have gone on
@Gary White Yes that video it's just a flow of anger being bashed out on drums and does not show his abilities much. Sadly derek is not as followed as before so new content is scarce. Tough, he produced some of these video's lately : ua-cam.com/video/zSXOkhouDS8/v-deo.html
Ps : He's very powerful and seems a dominant trait as seen raw here : ua-cam.com/video/YJXBjbDmgBs/v-deo.html
Thank you, i've been looking forward to this! He is my absolute favourite, i mean his style is just interesting to me. If possible, in the future i'd love a deeper insight to 'the oppression' or 'under black sails', but i don't think they have a live drum video of those anywhere? Anyway, thanks for this, absolutely loved it!
As for future suggestions, tomas haake and kai hahto would be amazing to see at some point. Also, just to jump out of genre, buddy rich would be interesting.
Yeah buddy rich sounds interesting
spitzen Video Joey!!!!!
Perfect analyse... i recommend you to react to "Tomas Haake" Drummer of "Meshuggah"...
Thanks for your Cool videos
Thank you
Yeah, and not Bleed. They have OTHER songs.
Frost from 1349!
and Satryicon
Great video dude
wooohooo! favorite band!
Have in mind that Francesco has written all the instruments parts for every album since Mafia in 2007 and also records them only by himself in the studio. Just, wow...
Andrew Baird from Fallujah !
Hi there Marthyn. Congratulations on your videos, they are always very informational and fun to watch. It would be awesome if you did a reaction to Jaime Saint Merat's drum cam of Abrogation by Ulcerate. He's easily one of the most technically proficient, creative and tasteful extreme metal drummers of our time and deserves more recognition than he currently gets.
This is one of the most best explications of a single beat technique have I seen.
Thank you so much!
Please, check the technique of Spencer Prewett from Archspire in the song "Involuntary Doppelgänger"
