Those autos was the shit with a stall and programmed but the 6 speed well is just so much fun

awesome run brother!!! I have 01 ws6. I have practically done/doing the exact upgrades you have done. they are putting my car together now. I wanna ask, how has your transmission held out? I have a 2400-2800 stall and stock rear end. have you had to do anything with your transmission since your upgrades???
Don't think we can't see you cheating! At 3:10 you can clearly see the clouds glued to the roof of your car, making your car lighter. That's the only way you pulled on these other guys. haha Coming from a WS6 daily driver. ;)

When I sae the convertible Firehawk and the WS6 pre match comparison, I put my money on the WS6 with headers. I was not disappointed. Convertibles weigh more because of extra support beams so they are slower.

I got a 97 formula Trans Am rebuilt the LT1 rebuilt the trans rebuild the rear MAS Racing suspension runs like a monster
The elevation must be a killer. My wife's stock 1999 30th Anniversary Trans Am WS6 auto with 3.23's ran 8.65 1/8 mi on regular nitto tires here in Tennessee. If it was a heads/ cam/ headers/ exhaust/ stall/ with lower gears, it would drop way into the sevens with drag radials or slicks
Yeah this was an 8.5 ish but the 60 ft was like 2.1 and the car wasn't tuned very well. The exhaust past the Y was stock also. The track also wasn't prepped because this was part of a car cruise/car show and meant as just a fun thing.
The cam idling through the headers sounds fantastic. Are you planning on changing the cat-back/muffler eventually? I have a Borla mated to an ORY/LongTube but I have it dumped because the Borla was too quiet for me. I'm going to re-attach it after I get an aftermarket catalytic converter welded in + the electric cut out so I can switch between loud and respectful sound. Still stock camshaft here, though. lol

Hey just an update I got the Speed engineering true dual and installed them! My new tuner was helping me get my tune straight as my 4L60 started slipping. Once its rebuilt I am going to make another video with the new exhaust.

At that time it was heads, a cam and a shit tune/wrong pushrods. I got the right pushrods and that helped a bunch. Now I added a little more and have been getting it tuned and it runs better! Thanks for watching my video!

T/A's get lucky too. Love my red 98. It's finely getting a lsx 427. Should be lots faster than my 418 6.9 car. Built 4l60e, Moser 9" 4.11, Hoosier dr2's. 427 is going to a 700 lift zero lash sl cam motions.

How much did it cost you to do all the upgrades on your ws6?
Tayfun A Parts so far I have about $6,500 into it so far. Then labor/tuning for the heads and cam close to $2000.

Since this vid is 3 years old and you have another vid with a cam. Anything else done to the car? Do you still have it? Mine needs to get refreshed, especially the trans. By your slips I could tell you weren't getting the most out of the stall due to traction issues. Did you manage to put drags on it to cut the 60' times?
Hey! I have H/C full exhaust 3.91 gears. My 2/3 shift is acting up and due to some life events I have had to put the build on pause. I will hopefully get that built and a good tune on it!
Also this was at a cruise day event where the track wasn't prepped. Plus being high altitude in Montana it doesn't run as well as lower elevation cars.
@@theokayestguy9167 is your trans built, if you are having 2-3 shift issues, like slippage, your clutch packs may be on their way out which is where I'm at for the moment. I'm still on 2.73s too when I hit that 1.7 60 foot times.
@@theokayestguy9167 if you are in street tires with a stall, it will be very hard to gain traction even with a prepped track. I was doing 2.3 60's on street tires with my ss3800 but when I put nitto drs on, went to 1.8 and 1.7s. Your mph is were the DA will affect your speed. Mid 80s is around 104 to 106 in the 1/4.
@@theokayestguy9167 also, I've been in the ls scene since 1999 when I first got my 99 TA and now have my z28. I also tune with hptuners and saw your car stalling which is def tune related. Increasing idle speed is one way but the best is adjusting the overspeed/underspeed setting. That worked wonders for me and got rid of the idle hunting.
How much power does it put to the ground? Ws6 is my favorite car of all time!
At that time 383 rwhp. I was having some issues. Now I am having transmission issues! Once I fix it I will need to get another video up!

conrad testamark not sure of 0-60, it's around 430 rwhp.
Conrad, on my full exhaust/SLP lid only WS6 I got high 4s like 4.7s if I remember on my best run so far 0-60 which you can see here

The Okayest Guy's 0-60 is probably a good 0.3 to 0.5s faster with his head/cam setup combined with his skilled launching. I also haven't gotten my car tuned yet, which probably isn't helping me. I can feel the power band moved up a little in the RPM range, but I did feel the power increase after switching from the stock manifold.

I just bought new tires for my WS6 lol. I was starting to lose traction really bad in the rain, I could barely leave a stop light over 20% throttle... I was like it's time for tires. haha

Car mag.'s in the 1990's , Hot Rod, Car Craft, etc. told you that 350 LT1 and LS1's could make serious power and that's what John Lingenfelter proved, too!😁 1990's, people!😁🔧

Iki AMV I raced a coyote before I got the heads cam he pulled on me at first then kept an even lead and I couldn’t real him in! Hopefully get some good footage after the snow melts!

@@theokayestguy9167 a good Tune should really free up some HP. Im working with a Mail Order Tune right now. Car runs good, but I really need to pull some logs to send to my tuner so we can dial it in better.

Stumbled on this 3 years later but just gave me the motivation to go wrap my car up man if you could cut them 60ft times down you would be doing ALOT better
I think he was running street tires. Street tires with a stall is no fun. I had real problems hooking up until I went with drag radials, cut my 60' to 1.7

I have Custom grind Cam, TFS CNC 215s with supporting valve train mods, 1 7/8 Kooks LT, ORY, 3200 Yank SS Stall, LCA, SLP Lid, and Underdrive pulley. Stock muffler, intake and everything else is stock. BFGoodrich Sport Comp 2's 275x40-17. Thanks for watching!

DT Hellland No drag radials and the track isn’t prepped very well. It’s up here in Montana so higher Altitude.

He was definitely reeling me in! But if you look at the slip I squeaked out a win. Between reaction time/traction issues.

The infamous LS1 lifter *tick noise. My original motor in my 99 Trans Am did it, my 2009 Silverado did it.
Mine ended up being pushrods were to short.. The installer didn't measure right and put the wrong ones in. Once that was fixed it picked up some power. Still some valve train noise but not this bad.

Actually the ls1 lifters were way better than the later ls7 lifters. You can tell the difference by the ls1 lifters having only .065 travel. The ls7's have over .100 travel.
I road race my 93 LT-1 all the time, the Hellcats don't have a chance.
no matter how many camshafts and valves ford an mopar design their engines with. they arent gonna outdo the LS

Absolutely! What are your plans? That is really going to determine what route you want to go. I have definitely "wasted money" on things I thought would be good. If you have an idea of what you will primarily use it for ( drag strip, auto cross, or just daily driving) I can give you some feedback on what I would do first!

If thats the case, long tube headers, and a good cam kit will open it up! Also if you haven't swapped rear end gears thats a good route to go as well!

Looking at ur times unless im wrong.... ur running 8.8's in the 1/8th?.... My 95 LT1 TA Convertible ran 8.8's in the 1/8th and 13.8 in the 1/4 ,...with just bolt on mods cat back, k&n cai, Hypertech Power Programmer, Trans Go Shift kit, 3.73 rear gears, pulleys, air foil, 8mm wires ect. But bone stock ls1's were coming to the track running 8.5's to 8.7's on the 1/8th...I believe u shud be running a bit faster but this is a old 2017 vid so maybe ur time is better now!

Spinning aint winning and I don't care what folks say automatics always faster than manual even so much so when manual driver cant shift or pull out without smoking tires.

It was an automatic.. The big issue we both had was getting traction. It was an unprep drag strip.

Iki AMV yes, it is really a Hellcat.. there are a lot of factors in a race. HP/ weight and also traction. We were really close on all of those and I just got out ahead enough!

andrew paul With good tires I would be interested to see how we would line up now! The only real difference is I now I have the right size pushrods.. still need a good tune but HP/Weight I am still up a little.
He beat it because he got the jump and it's only a 1/8 mile race. Heads/cam/3200 stall I can totally buy him getting the jump. The stall with traction you can cut like a 1.6 second 60 foot or better. At sea level, this Ls1 is a 11 second car all day.

It was a hellcat and it did not beat me at the end. A stock 392? You are saying with with similar power but 900 lbs heavier its going to win? If you have owned both you will see its all the badges, wheels, hood are all hellcat. Even the license plate said "PUSYCAT". Also I did a freeze frame with the time slip.. Not sure what else you need to prove it says winner on my side.

Ravis Maximus if you read the description or watched the video you would see the WS6 has H/C. It is about 435 rwhp. The 392 with 485 crank is close to the 430-440 rwhp. Again 900 lbs heavier.

You know I didn't even think about that until now.. It was a car cruise to a track and back. It was no prep (sketchy) and back. Every time I went there for race events helmets were required (as they should be).

Did you watch the video? I put up the time slip on it. This is a 1/8 mile track and it wasn't prepped well due to it being a cruise to the strip and back. We both struggled with traction. I am not saying my car is fast, just that I beat a hellcat. I guess I missed your video of you running low 9s in the 1/4.

Austin Kerzisnik this was an 1/8th mile not a 1/4 and we both spun.. I beat him in the 1/8th where we race. The thing is I am at high elevation so that is why we both have “slower” times.
