One of the best looking cars ever made, even today. That car was ahead of it's time. I had a white one like that and sold it like a dummy. Now i have a 2010 Camaro 2 ss and i still miss my Trans Am
dang... & i thought my 98 formula was a "low production run" kinda deal... these truly are rare unicorns! ...beautiful unicorns, but unicorns none the less... absolutely spectacular, thank u for sharing these with us! god bless
Ray E, no thank you for checking out the video. Tim's is an amazing unique story, and we're proud to be able to share it. Hopefully you subscribed to our channel because we have a number of equally unique stories coming out soon we'd love to share with you.
John Hudson give it some years with cash for clunkers and the way they are going through them a good solid Fbody will be hard to come by more want them and love them than exist today.
Imagine a car that came out in 98 still looks modern 24 years later. I loved them in highschool and have owned a 2000 silver T/A for 21 years. When I got it, it had 10,000 roughly. 22 years old and it only has 78,000kms roughly.
Even though they do not make Pontiac no more you're right I really don't care about the value either I own a 2000 WS6 same color and I've had it for 21 years and I would never get rid of it not one problem it's been a beauty of my life
beautiful car! My favorite color is the sunset orange metallic! But that color there, is gorgeous too! The WS6 is one of the best looking American sports car ever made!
I'm the proud owner of a 1999 trans am in bright metallic purple. It was originally white and was told by the previous owner that the previous owner before them loved the BMP color and had it painted. I absolutely love this color! Definitely stands out! I've had mine for going on 4 years now and I never plan on selling mine either.
Back in 1999 I bought a navy blue metallic Trans am 6-speed, it looks similar in color as yours. I had it for 5 years and put 29k miles, nothing ever went wrong with it, not even a bulb burned out. Definitely a great car, I had lots of fun with it.
Thats one of my alltime favorite TA's... And yours is the only one I've ever seen... Should they have ever made another one, likely they were destroyed or wrecked... Too many people abused these cars which is what I think makes them even more special..
Your in good company, I have an 01 SS 1LE thats 1 of 6 ever made. I went a purchased the same car but 00 with 22,000 original mile just to have one to drive. My wife have a 00 Ram air WS6 with 17'000 original mile she bought brand new. Both that car and her are Keepers. Great Video !!
Love your car, love your story...THAT car is meant to be driven, NOT a museum piece so thank you for sharing. American muscle may be dwindling but those that ARE out there should be driven AS WELL AS treasured.
My cousin had this color when i was a kid this is the exact trans am i want color and all … I’m from New Orleans i was about 9 years old it was the year 2000 .. i rarely see the purple trans am anymore this the exact one that made me fall in love with them its my fav sports car to date ❤️💯💯💯
Hi there is a purple ram air not to far from me haven't seen it recently. It was owned by a older couple. Last time I saw it was still brand new beautiful. I love your car and that car that is owned by that couple I just don't get to see it very often. Beautiful car!
Nice pair of birds. I own a 2000 firehawk trans am with the rare 2 level optional wing. I am not a big fan of the silver color I have but it is a nice car also.
Just a FYI.. this is not the only Bright Purple Metallic 1998 Trans Am WS6 6-speed ever made. I also owned one and would be more than happy to supply tons of proof.
I have 98 ws6 trans am black with 6 speed but has a corvette motor now had put twin turbos on it and waste gate stuck but still won the race has 98234 on car 23007 on motor setting right now with car cover on it only drive every now and then still love it
I also have a 88 gta trans am tpi 5 speed 1 in 861 t5 I live in Canada which makes card more like 1 in 100 Never in my life have I ever seen a real one in my life ppl tell me there like a needle in a haystack My dad bought this car brand new orderd it t5 took 3 months Then he let my mom drive it and I got to use it in high school It's flawless inside and out Super shiny Black on black
Ben Kalinowski That's awesome! We'd love to see some photos and good on you for keeping it in nice condition, hard to do with a car you got in high school!
Yep I knew about the purple cars very rare indeed. I had a 98' ws6 t56 sebring silver car with only 29xxxkm when I sold it. It was always a dream car of mine but eventually you just gotta move on.
I know how you feel brother.. I'm a huge Mustang enthusiast, and I've been told many times, that certain things on my Mustangs Ford did not do from the factory. Yet I know for a fact that they did because, I did the same thing you did I contacted Ford and they assured me yes that they did do those certain things from factory.
How were you able to afford to buy a brand new $40k car in 1998 as a teenager in school?? I couldn't even get a small loan at that age because of no credit history. And inflation today would make that about 60k
Same thing here. I went to the dealership in 97 to purchase my Trans Am Ws6. Heard they was coming out with a new body style so I waited til 98. 13 months and 6 days later after placing my order. I got T-tops and all the options expect the 6 player cd changer in the trunk. Mine listed for just over 30 in 98. That's a nice car. Everyone told me to go with red too, but went with silver.
Sweet. Thats a very nice unseen color. I like seeing these with rare options. Pontiac was such a great part of American history. I had a mint 99 pewter grey ws6 with t roof I almost added to my stable. I enjoyed the fact pontiac cars always turned heads when nicely optioned. SSEI bonnevilles, GP GTP/GTX's, Even a grand am could look great leaving the factory with a ram air hood!
I know a owner in flint,Mi Original owner it's a automatic,ws6 Never seen one for sale. your color and the gold convertible for 98,are both super rare.
I totally relate to people not believing the color combination. My dad owned a factory starlight black 81 turbo trans am WITH the blue decal kit and ws6 suspension. Eventually however he shoved a 455 and manual into it so now nobody gets it's engine with the car
I had a purple metalic trans am not a ram air but the person who had it before me had a ram air hood put on it, only 64 were ever built. I regret selling it ofcourse I ended purchasing a 1998 trans am convertible which I have today navy blue metallic which was the replacement paint for the purple metalic paint.Ilove my car.
I'm planning on buying me a WS6 very soon.I had the chance to buy one back in the day and didn't.Ive always regretted it.I love those cars. You beautiful yet so mean and tough looking and the TA sound.Theres nothing like it.I want a black one.Murder it out lol!
did you remove the baffle on the hood air intake to get more direct airflow in there? there was a bracket that attached to the hood intake to match up with the air cleaner opening to help pressurize the incoming air. with that and a K&N filter, acceleration was explosive!
I have a 1998 pontiac firebird the color is purple has the 3.8L engine manual transmission no power windows its all classic was planning to sell it but might keep it watching this video👍
“I don’t consider myself as from coming from a car family, my mom used to race and my parents met at a racetrack, also have a relative who works for GMC” my man you come from a car family 😂
This content and quality is too good to have such low subs, very underrated
Thank you! Such a compliment.

I wanted a 98 trans am in high school I remember the commercials. I was commercial dreaming.
My favorite car is corvette, but the TA WS6 will always have a sweet spot in my heart for being the most brutal looking.
Mine too
Love my 2000 M6 Ws6 will never sell it.
Ive seen his post on fbody FB pages about his car and his story. Glad to finally see a video of it, Thank you!

The purple is such a gorgeous color on the trans ams
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 02 WS6. it is black with the 6 speed manual, not rare BUT, a great car

Car, and the paint is gorgeous...
Beautiful WS6!! Great American muscle cars!! 👍🇺🇸
Yes they are!
Thats one of my alltime favorite TA's... And yours is the only one I've ever seen... Should they have ever made another one, likely they were destroyed or wrecked... Too many people abused these cars which is what I think makes them even more special..
Absolutely Eric! I was amazed at how immaculate Tim's TA was when we saw it in person, this car is pristine.

Loving the car files, please keep these coming! “Put it in sport mode!” 😎
Oh wow!!.. Very lucky and blessed indeed.. Hope you still have it to this day..
When you first said purple I thought oh boy but you are correct that color jumps out at you great looking car!
Yes this is the car I wanted as a kid and still do. That car is only reason I bugged my mom to teach me stick.
Wow I wish my trans am looked like this one 😍
trans Am ws6 98 to 02 will be one of the most collectible cars in history by 2040... if were all alive by then ;)
That's a great story!
Tracy Timpson -Toschi We thought so too, this is exactly the type of story we're working to spotlight!

Beautiful TA. Color is awesome on it too
Beautiful car, definitely the best and most underrated color for this car.
Couldn't agree more!
WOW! Sometimes it pays NOT to listen to your friends! Love all f Bodies. This one is amazing. Enjoy my friend.
Mine ain't no ws6 but still a 1998 bpm with only 112k as a daily driver... Absolutely love it!!! Love that ws6
Hi there is a purple ram air not to far from me haven't seen it recently. It was owned by a older couple. Last time I saw it was still brand new beautiful. I love your car and that car that is owned by that couple
I just don't get to see it very often. Beautiful car!
Hell ya!
What a beautiful rare car!
Nice pair of birds. I own a 2000 firehawk trans am with the rare 2 level optional wing. I am not a big fan of the silver color I have but it is a nice car also.
I hope you still have this car. Love the color.
Most aggressive car of the mid 90's to early 2000's. Most aggressive of all.
If I get one of these I only want purple. Camaro of similar year, sunset orange.
Just a FYI.. this is not the only Bright Purple Metallic 1998 Trans Am WS6 6-speed ever made. I also owned one and would be more than happy to supply tons of proof.

Yellow paint on the calipers and those autozone shifter pedals is killing it
My dad has photos of his purple 98 Trans Am. But it didn’t have a Ram Air. I think that it is still the best color for this car.
Yep I knew about the purple cars very rare indeed. I had a 98' ws6 t56 sebring silver car with only 29xxxkm when I sold it. It was always a dream car of mine but eventually you just gotta move on.
I will never own a Corvette, but would own one of these.
Driving all around Franklin Park haha, i'll have to keep an eye out for this car on the nice days..had no idea this guy lived in that area.

Very nice!
I think J Leno has one of these too. Nice car man
What the color code on that purple lol. I'm repainting my WS6 this winter...
did it have the single exhaust pipe from the factory?
“I don’t consider myself as from coming from a car family, my mom used to race and my parents met at a racetrack, also have a relative who works for GMC” my man you come from a car family 😂
Great video work
Thank you! We appreciate your kind words.
I hope the car owner sees this - how did you avoid the door panel cracking? (interior, which I understand to be a design flaw)
My cousin had a purple stick shift trans am
What's the paint code would love to have some made for my black firebird
Seems to be 88U, Bright Purple Metallic.
What’s “Rair” mean in Rair Air?
It’s not only one in purple yours is one out of 6 only one was made in purple convertible
Lol. The original need for speed had a testarossa a 911 or a Corvette ...vipers came into existence 7 years later.
You're probably thinking of the Test Drive series. Road & Track presents Need for Speed had the viper, rx7, c4 vette, etc.
One of six that color
Has the hood been repainted? The RAM AIR decals are too low on the hood.
No paint work has ever been performed on this particular car.
Just wondering if there is anyone else in NM with a bpm ta????
Guess it wasnt the only purple ta made
I have a 98 NBM T/A and people think its purple haha
It would have been nice to hear the engine.
I think Jay Leno has the same color

Without a doubt.
Bad video!
This guy said his parents weren’t into cars, but also said his mom used to race…. Like what? Just contradicted himself in the first minute
Ticks me tf off whenever this guy (or anyone really) keeps saying “vehicle”… just say car..
