Sights & Sounds video: • 2002 Pontiac Trans Am ...
Mods include:
Texas Speed LS6 heads, Torquer V2 Cam, BBK Intake, 85mm TB and Z06 MAF, Kooks Headers, catted Y-pipe and 3" Flowmaster Exhaust, SLP Subframe Connectors, BMR 1" drop with Bilstein Shocks, Hotchkis Lower Control Arms with relocation brackets, UMI adj. panhard bar, BMR adj. Torque Arm and driveshaft safety loop, Diamond Stage 2 clutch, Jaam ram air system. We don't know what any of this means, but it works well!
For the best video experience, we recommend wearing a good set of headphones. The audio in this video was recorded with binaural microphones that, when played back through headphones, give the feel of 3D sound. Trick stuff.

Car sounds great man, and to this day I still think this is one of the best looking cars ever made.
67ShelbyMustang500 I agree hoping to buy one this fall
I love this car but it is like Saab it ugly in its own way that’s what makes it look good
One of the sleekest looking muscle cars ever
Fastest h pattern car in the world
I have a red 2002 WS6 amazing underrated ride
I want a black 02.... All time favorite vehicle.
I have a black 2002 ws6 manual and it is awesome
I like the 94/95s more than the 02s. I like the nice flat front on them without the big air intake holes in the hood.
God I miss my 4th gen Trans Am. I can't wait to get another one.
The 2002 Ws6 Trans am and a 1989 TTA pace car, are by far the best cars to hit the streets in my opinion
I connected my phone through the AUX port in my civic and cranked the volume up! My car started to rumble and I pretended to be in a WS6! It was awesome!! I didn't go as fast as I thought I would though..
Absolutely in love with the 98-02 ram air ws6, best looking cars ever, my dream car
I planted that big willow tree you see at the 2:00 mark, on the left back in the early 80's
sure u did
+RJ Frezno how serious are you on a scale of 1-10
whatSongIsThis? I grew up here. The car drives right by the lady who cuts my hair. My car broke down right on that road once in the middle of the night. Then at the end he drives right by a tree I planted in like 1980
+RJ Frezno That's awesome, man. Seems like it got to enjoy a bit of a soundtrack, as well ;)
I know this is an old comment but man is that neat
That noise is just the greatest thing ever.
That engine has a beautiful sound
Yeah LS1, if you like this you'll like the LT1 aswell
Still love these cars. They're one of the last cars from Pontiac that wasn't just a Chevy clone. The WS6 has performance bits the SS doesn't to make it a stepping stone between the Camaro and the Corvette. Amazing car that aged gracefully
I love the WS6 so much.
I just need to buy an F-body. Such amazing cars for so little nowadays (except once people realize how good they are the prices will skyrocket).
EDIT: I already own one lol.
+Unbearable Pain Here in FL i've noticed that the trans am at least have been starting to go up in value slightly. I think they hit the bottom of there depreciation already. 3 years ago i almost bought a 70k mile 2001 ws6 in awesome condition from a dealer for $10,200. I didnt because i was young and stupid and listened to everyone telling me "dont get it, it will eat your pockets in gas". I should have just slapped them because i finally got one not to long ago and its amazing. and fuel economy isnt very bad at all! but sadly i paid $11,200 for a 2002 with 90k miles, but part of the reason it cost more is 2002 is more sought after and the color which is midnight blue is somewhat rare. But still i kick myself for not getting that sweet 2001 ws6 3 years ago. but I got lucky becuase i found the exact car i was looking for.
+biggboysouth You've got taken for a ride...I know, once you're into a car it's easy to just go see it, sit in it, take a ride in it and then just pay for it without thinking much. But if you look for a while you'll find them with less miles than 70k and preferably owned by someone without a constant lead foot. Me I went from NYC to PA to buy one, NYC had the same shit conditioned cars you look at, at high prices as well.
There I found a 2002 SLP Camaro SS with no rear seats, engine tune and a shipping slip from the last owner who was US Army cat stationed in Germany!
This alone should be enough to tell me the guy drove it like he stole on roads with legal speeds of 155mph, now I'm after a transmission change and doing good but beware, sometimes the your enthusiasm says "YES" but listen to your reason when it says "NO" as well.
BTW, I got a 43028mile car (now 49k+miles) and the guy wanted $15k for it but I paid $13200 cash because there's no credit or national banks in PA, just have most of the money for the car you've picked is what I'm saying, you'll save a nice sum (for that future tranny repair no doubt as it is with most of those cars) :D
+g00dl00kinb0i Depending on how much you've researched both car you will know on average a trans am will go for about $2-3K more than a comparable Camaro. Taking that into account I also was able to find it in a rare color that i wanted navy Blue Metallic(NBM) with black interior which will effect the price, If I wanted a pewter T/A i could find them all day for cheap but if you want a SOM or NBM your gonna have to wait a while for one to pop up and if one does it's a 70% chance that it will probably be an auto and not a manual. Also Sport and muscle cars up north go for a considerable amount cheaper than down south for one main reason. Up North you are foolish to drive them all year around and will need to have enough money to own a second car. Where as here my ws6 is my daily driver and i drive it all year around. Also I'm blessed enough to have a father who is a mechanic and also restores and builds classic cars for clients for a living. I was able to have him inspect the car before making the deal. What we found out was the car was 100% rust free, suspension rode like new. Clutch has absolutely no slip, read diff made no noise, steering had no slop and the tranny was tight and crisp. Also the interior is in excellent condition. Mileage means little if the car was taken care of and vice versa. I looked at a 50k mile ws6 that was beat to shit and was falling apart, but my 90k car feels like new almost. You get what you pay for and i paid for a well taken care of automobile. I purchased my car with the mind set that it will be an investment once it becomes a classic. It's a very good chance that my 2002 NBM ws6 m6 will be worth more than the more wide spread black and pewter cars including camaro especially because it is the last firebird year ever made.
I get what you're saying, I could have gotten a T/A for cheaper and I know that. But I didn't want just some random T/A. I was searching for very specific criteria which took me over a year to find. A completely Stock m6 NBM ws6 is hard to come by. Especially for under $15k
biggboysouth I'm aware of that, but it all depends how much you look for it too, I could have had a 35k mile Midnight Purple 2001 T/A w/tan interior for about 2k more, about the same miles.
The only thing was the 4L60E - I didn't want an Auto.
The real difference is when you find a 6-speed T/A, those I can agree cost significantly more.
Mike H Yeah, I'm glad I took this SS instead, was going 130mph+ at night/fog yesterday morning on my local twisty Pkwy and got home safe, Chevy Camaro forever !!!
I checked, you're right....but I think the guy did mention the car had some things done to it, not sure if the paint was one of those things, '98 is a bit too old for me + still has that EGR valve...
just bought one!
How is it I was thinking about buying one
Its amazing, its such a great car in so many ways. Ive always been a huge pontiac fan and this car is so much fun. Im in love with it
***** Thanks man
fraycus07
I actually sold a few WS6 Ram Air T/A's when I was a salesman for a Buick/Pontiac/GMC Truck dealership from 2000-2002. I got to take a brand new 2001 Trans Am WS6 Ram Air t-tops 6 speed on a dealer swap from Long Island to Connecticut. I didn't beat on it because it only had about 18 miles on it when I left my dealer, but I did punch it a couple of times. That was a very fun ride there and back. Even just cruising in it flowing with traffic was a lot of fun I remember. Awesome, awesome machine! ... Best of luck with yours by the way :)
IrishChris1979 thank you! it has been so much fun
Just gotta love that ls1 powerplant
Probably the best review of a 4th gen T/A I've ever seen
This brings me such good memories of my two LS1 Trans Am’s 😢
Thanks for the video - swayed me to a 2002 over a 79 WS6
I just restored a 91 trans am and gotta say that i like the dashes before 93 a lot better.
What a machine it is! Thanks for this pure sound inside view experience shared...i would love to own one, 98-02 ls1's are magnificent, but 93-97 lt1 firehawks shouldn't be forgotten, both great motors. Thumb up!
This makes me miss my ws6 :(. I remember that purr when putting it in a higher gear didn't last long because I always wanted to downshift to hear more!.
Great video. I'm hoping to pick up an LT1 from the 90's for a summer car and project. Have had too many imports and turbos, now it's time for something different
That mic'ing is incredible! Sounds like I'm sitting in the front seat :)
Favourite car of its time.
I want to get one soon.
10 years ago this car was pretty amazing.
Very nice, and props for taking it easy as you drove next to the grave yard. You nice guy you...
I want a LS1 firebird soooo bad.
Prices keep going up, LS1s are the engines the muscle car guys want 4 swaps.
AMAZING car .. beautiful sound .. timeless design
Car sounds great man I have a 2000 trans am ws6 wish I had roads like that in Brooklyn ny I can't drive 10 yards with out some obstruction in the road
Great sounding car man really 👍🏿
I think the WS6 was GM's crowning achievement. This thing is just pure, raw power in a beautifully analog, yet elegant sports car.
Can't Lie But The Sound Of That Car Is Nice, Love How The Car Handles The Roads Good
That sound is epic
after 20 years this car still looks awesome
That's what I call an engine sound, V8, not those 4 cylinder toys
If a 4 cylinder is built correctly it will walk all over a v8 not that i dont like v8s just the 4 cylinder cars are lighter in every way and can be much faster
Skids is
skids ftw that’s known facts
Most 4 cylinders rev up to 7K only a few rev above that
Love the trans am, getting one as a first car in a few months :)
Hunter Morris ever end up getting it as a first car?
Wanted to see this so much!
Love that sound
Nice car!! I have always liked that model.. You are a true daredevil driving like that on the street!! Great video!!
Love this car
Awesome, my favorite video of your's yet..
Sounds and looks so badass. I want one.
Looks like sunset orange! Beautiful car
Wud hv luuuuvd to see the outside of the car!
My plan is to get a trans am with ls1 this fall. If I can't find a decent one for how much $ I have then my second choice is camaro. I really love the trans ams looks over the camaro. I live in Albuquerque and I've been browsing the market here, el paso, denver, and pheonix. Seems like pheonix has the most selection at any given time. Definetly worth a road trip for a nice one!
Do you have a walk around video or pictures you took for this car? I'm really interested in a 2002 Trans Am and hope you had some good quality photos :)
I have been enjoying riding in one of this car was a automatic transmission and it's really cool and easy to drive. I wish that I could have one that has a automatic transmission. 375 horsepower and ws6 package that is very cool stuff and fast
Great sound and acceleration B) What's up with the white gauges?.. reminds me of the Mustang from that era
Sounds insane
great sound
can yall try too do a 2006 pontiac gxp and a gtp?
Nice ride. Don't see these around anymore. Is this stock motor?
i loved my '98 Trans Am! wish i had the 2002 tho.
What's the difference other than the ls6 intake?
+James Walker that's about it really. its a bit quicker than the 98-00 models.
@@jamesvwalker268 98 has the bigger cam
@@marcellowheeler88 nah dude virtually dead even -the 98's had the bigger cam so it equals out
Just got one watching your newly released video of the Ferrari 458 and then I watched this TA and Hmmmm......can't compare these to each other except they both have a gas pedal!
nice car
Lol, that's because this car did come from the early 90s. The 4th generation F-Body cars (Camaro/Firebird) were introduced in 1993 and went pretty much unchanged aside from some powertrain and exterior updates until they were discontinued after the 2002 model year.
Thanks!
Not much power under 3,000rpm, is there?
Did the owner ever dyno it? What kind of power does that thing produce?
very cool car to drive around and sounds as a muscle car should
great car :)
That's it, here I come firebird.
Nice car.... All that corn and bean fields kinda looks Indiana
That's funny, I'm from Indiana and thought the exact same thing haha!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful! More posts like this. Thanks WR!
what camera did you use? the goggles? or the ego?
To the owner of this car if you are reading this, do you get any drone around 70-80mph with this exhaust set-up? Sounds awesome on video
nico atillo I do not get any drone, no. At 80mph I'm about 2k RPM with my rear gear.
can someone tell me where i can find a video like this but with the 2002 ss?
+kyle gorman I just got 1080p POV glasses and have a 2002 SLP SS....I wanted to test the glasses out today behind the wheel but had some belt issues :[
what camera did you use?
how much power?
F-Body is great. Video is great. I drive a 96th. Formula Convertible. And in Germany we have on the AUTOBAHN no Speed Limit :-) Have a nice Day.
That's awesome, Roland. I'll be traveling to Germany in early May. Unfortunately - I wont have my SOM WS6 there to test it out on the autobahn. Are you anywhere near Stuttgart?
No, I live near Dortmund, Sorry.
Design is 30 years old and sounds great
Beautiful Trans Am sounds amazing.Good for you.I love the landscape what state is this?
is it stock
I like its engine sound
I always liked these. Too bad it is kind of difficult to find these in 6 speed manual on this side of the border.
its not too bad the thing is most people want like 13k for a 80k miles one
Try 20k.
Just bought a 95 Trans am!
Me too :)
Nice bro!
Very nice I'm saving up for one got $3300 so far aiming for october
sounds like youll need a new rear end soon
Wish I bought one of these over a puny civic :(
At lease I get 38 mpg
G11B are you for real? how much of your driving is highway vs city?
Over9000Gingers I get around 30 mpg as well, if I'm not on it.
My 94 Sierra has a 350 and it gets 18 city, 20 hw
+Over9000Gingers These LS1 cars, more so with the Camaro and Corvette because of their low drag, will easily get in the high 20's or even a little in the 30's when driven right. If freer-flowing intake and exhaust systems are set up (like a good filter, intake lid, long tube headers, high-flow cats, and good exhaust like Magnaflow), these cars will do it consistently. 6th gear is a decent overdrive and all that low-end torque from the 5.7L means the engine is barely doing any work to keep these muscle cars haulin' along.
I feel like a bobble head watching this. :)
Damn man, how do you stop yourself from flooring it to top speed on those fine backwoods roads is beyond me......I'd be arrested for felony speeding on those on a monthly basis in my SS !
What camera did you guys use to record, all glasses I've tried have a very narrow 135-145* viewing angle :[
+g00dl00kinb0i Look for a gopro
+Panda Mark Yeah.....looks like it.
Unless I record in 720p glasses don't capture as much as other cams, too bad.
this thing is cool
I'm not againts 4 cilinders turbo, but they don't compare with an american V8, if you mean about the sound
yes pls
you dont need to keep the rpms so high all the time. It has torque all across the band. though I guess these cars take some getting used to
what do you mean take some getting used to?
+paulrscell Yeah, I got straight x-pipes on my 2002 SLP SS, first 3-4 months I was
starting from 2nd gear because the 2.73 gears always sound like the RPM is getting high in 1st.
Took me over 6 months of driving on weekends to get accustomed to this ride, this engine line & Tremec T-56 combo.
g00dl00kinb0i
yeah it definitely has a bit of a learning curve. even with my 3.23s and my exhaust cutout and airlid, my friends always think im stomping on it even though Im out of 1st in 2 seconds. I have to explain to them that Im barely at 2k rpms and only going half throttle, its just that its so loud and has so much torque that it seems like im going hard on the gas. Then you can be like "this is what full throttle actually feels like". and then they promptly shit their pants
paulrscell True that those engines like to sing, but @ 4.5-6k RPM I'll wake the dead, I put a Flowmaster cat on the right pipe a while back, the left one is too low to be catted so straight is how it stays...sometimes I feel guilty of stealing sleep driving around early 6a.m on a Sunday in residential areas :D
g00dl00kinb0i yep its a loud one. I really want a 3 inch system with long tubes but my stock pipes with post cat cutout already rattle whats left of my brain. los angeles is so full of modded cars that sound way worse so I can go under the radar as I am now. Then I see those vids of short, big piped, big cammed, ported fire breathing monsters and I start dreaming XD
About 430 at the wheels, everyone. The car is a blast to drive, and was equipped with Advan Yokohama 032R's in this video.
Dude POV includes the shifter!
Very cool video. As fpr the comments; I cant believe that people would even comment/notice the mans hands. Who gives a sh!t where they are, or how they look? Did you type in Trans Am WS6 in the search engine?
Would love to own one of these but the seat doesn't go back far enough. I'm 6'4" and it's not comfortable at all. Knees bent up to the steering wheel.
Im same height, if you mess with the power seat enough its not that bad. Otherwise unbolt seat n bring it back some
+Tie Bei Man....I'm 5'9", 220lbs and husky and I fit without problems, if I power the seat to the rear limit I won't even be able to push any pedals to drive it.
Try a Camaro instead (no difference really), you should fit in there without issues, just watch your head though...:D
+Tie Bei 6'2" here and I've got space to go. Strange experience.
I love that car. It's a shame they quit making them.
Doesn't look like a WS6. Can't see the back of the ram air hood.
I assure you, it is a WS6. I'm the one that has the pleasure of owning the car. Maybe the driver is just a little short... hahaha
What is the exhaust on the car? I know that is not stock! I have an 02' ws6 48K miles bone stock and want to finally put an exhaust on it.
Yeah. The exhaust sounds great. The Magnaflow sounds quite good on the '01-'02 WS6's. "Saabkyle04" does a review here on UA-cam of an '02 WS6 with the Magnaflow. It sounds nice. Not quite as good as this one, though. This one might have a Borla or Flowmaster exhaust on it. I'm not sure.
Kooks Headers, catted Y-pipe and 3" Flowmaster Exhaust are whats installed on my Trans Am. I think it sounds great - specially with the catalytic converters still in place. Keeps it from getting raspy.
Check out bassanii exhaust not really a top secret exhaust but not many people outside of racing know about it.
I hope you had your seat belts on
i'll bet that sounds bad ass from outside
Nice.
is this stock ?? sounds amazing ?
(description)
Always read the description first. Always
Baroda, mi. Singer lake road
Test drive Audi A8/A8L/S8 Please ! :)
They never did a write up on this car! Bummer... Cool video though
Please do a G35!
Stock exhaust?
Kooks Headers, catted Y-pipe and 3" Flowmaster Exhaust
Nice car bro. Would love a corsa on mine one day.
I’ll never understand why gm sacrificed Pontiac instead of that rolling fecal matter company they call Buick?!? I’ll never for this machine.
needs better suspension. The camera shakes a lot.
Oh my bad dude. Sick ride either way bro!
I think it's just a shit road.
